OC Backstory - Chelsea Carlson

Actual Person: Rose McGowan, Actress
Age: 25
Parents: Roger and Anita Carlson
Siblings: Alexandra Carlson
Chelsea grew up in a large suburb in New Jersey, with a mother who always had dreams bigger than her means. She was married to a music teacher at the local public high school, who she had thought was going to be a great composer and provide for a better life than they had. Roger and Anita separated when their two daughters, Chelsea and Alexa, were still young, but they never really got divorced, Anita always running back to him when her latest affair with a one of the rich husbands she was seeing, refused to leave their wives for her.
Anita was never one to hiding her affairs from her daughters, and often had the men over when her children were home. Chelsea tried to shield her sister from as much of it as possible, but she couldn’t prevent her mother from trying to turn them both into gold diggers like herself. The lessons never really stuck for Chelsea—she was always more like her father—but her sister was more like their mother, and bonded to her more, causing the sisters to grow further apart as they got older.
Chelsea and Eva Patterson met in her father’s choir class in high school, and quickly grew close through those classes and their activities in the drama club after school. While they quickly learned that they both have their flaws, they put up with them probably more than most would. They both moved on to the same acting program in college, and also moved into the city together once they graduated.
While Chelsea and her mother never got along, she did pick up some of her mother’s bad habits. Chelsea’s biggest flaw is probably her ability to commit, or rather, staying true to that commitment. If she tries hard enough, she can keep herself from cheating on someone, but most often she doesn’t feel the effort to try, and therefore, she finds herself constantly falling in and out of relationships, or even having affairs outside relationships to try and get those needs met.
She has two vices she tends to turn to when she gets stressed, cigarettes and sex, and sex usually comes in the form of her relationship with whatever man she’s with. She has no idea why some of the men she knows puts up with her and her behavior, but she’s always grateful when some of them do.
