Fandom: Law and Order: TOS
Title: The Case that Put Jack McCoy Over the Edge
Author:
iluvroadrunner6
Rating: FRT
Characters: Jack McCoy, Arthur Branch
Prompt: see icon
Content Warning: oh, so much crack.
Summary: See title.
Author's Note: for
softbrowneyes. I apologize to any Jack McCoy fans who may be offended by the following drabble. Please note that it’s all her fault.
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Law and Order. They’re owned by NBC.
“Clearly Arthur, you see the need to put these monsters behind bars where they belong,” Jack said as he present his case to the man sitting in front of him. Branch stared up at him with disbelieving eyes, trying to figure out what happened to the man who had been his star attorney for so long. He leaned forward on his desk, making sure he had the right words for it before he spoke.
“Jack,” he began slowly, “Have you really thought this thing through?”
“Yes, of course I have,” Jack sighed, dismissing the question with the wave of his hand, “But what even is there to think about? These monsters must be stopped.”
They’re robots, Jack,” Branch sighed, “We should just round them all up and incinerate them, we don’t need to take them to court.”
“Arthur, these robots are stealing the medication of the elderly and using it to fuel their massive plan of world domination,” Jack said, his eyes wild with conviction, “They must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!”
Branch got up from his desk at this point, placed an arm around Jack’s shoulders, and started to walk him to the door, “Jack, here’s what we’re going to do. I want you to go and have a little chat with Skoda, see what he thinks about this case.”
“Skoda’s not a lawyer, his opinion should have no bearing on this—”
“Go talk to Skoda, Jack,” Branch sighed, placing the man outside his office, “And if after that, you still think we should pursue this—then we’ll talk. Alright?”
“Arthur, we can’t afford to waste time on this,” Jack replied, “The robots are plotting world domination.”
“Then make that appointment quickly, Jack,” Branch replied, before shutting the door behind him. He walked over to the desk, and poured himself a strong drink before sitting back at his desk again.
“I always wondered what would break him.”

Rating: FRT
Characters: Mike Canon and Riley Toth
Prompt: see icon

Summary: Mike and Riley debate the idea of being stuck in the middle.
Author's Note: for
softbrowneyes. This one is not so cracktastic. But I still like it.
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Las Vegas. They’re owned by NBC. However, Riley is mine, so please do not use him without my permission.
“And then—” Mike began as he and Riley sat side by side in Mystique, “—they expect me to choose a side, when really I don’t have an opinion either way. They’re all my friends, why can’t I just sit in the middle, and that be the end of it.”
“I hear ya,” Riley replied, taking another sip sucks, “Being Switzerland sucks. Especially when people hate your guts over a court case when you were just doing your job, and you don’t hate them because you were just doing your job.”
“Well, dude, you are a defense attorney.”
“I’m a public defender.”
“Still, a certain amount of hatred is generally involved there.” Riley hesitated for a second, before shrugging.
“Yeah, you’re right,” he downed the rest of his drink, before speaking again, “Still sucks though.”
“Yeah. Still sucks.”

Fandom: House, MD
Title: Status Quo
Author:
iluvroadrunner6
Rating: FRT
Characters: Robert Chase, mentions of Gregory House
Prompt: see icon
Content Warning: Spoilers for “Finding Judas.”
Summary: He, of all people, didn’t want to change the status quo.
Author's Note: for
johanirae. I hope this was more bitter!Chase than mopey!Chase for you.
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of House MD. They’re owned by Fox.
He shouldn’t care at this point. He shouldn’t be worried about keeping his job or breaking House’s trust because House obviously doesn’t care what he thinks. Doesn’t even care when he’s got information crucial to a patient’s diagnosis, because House thinks he is just another empty head to fill the space. Thinks that Daddy paid his way to getting this position, and that nothing he says has any real consequence.
He knew he could look for another job. He probably should look for another job. Generally speaking, you don’t stay in a job where your boss is a drug addict and physically assaults you when you’re just trying to someone alive. The little voice in the back of his head tells him to just let it go—the man was detoxing after all. And he really couldn’t afford to quit right now. It was all about being smart.
So he would go home, put a bag of frozen peas on his jaw, and then get up and go to work tomorrow morning, just like he always did. Because things were just better off that way.
He, of all people, didn’t want to change the status quo.

Deep breaths
Deep breaths to keep yourself calm.
Deep breaths to keep yourself focused. You can’t worry about Mac or Flack right now, when you need to worry about everyone else as well. They’re doing what they need to do inside the building, and you gotta make sure that people are away from the building. That’s what Mac told you to do. To get people away from the building, away from the danger.
Deep breaths to do your job.
Deep breaths because you need to yell. Can’t do your job if you can’t yell. Can’t yell if you can’t breathe. Can’t breathe if you’re panicking.
Deep breaths.

venetia_sassy. Somehow this turned into an introspective view on New York City, and I don’t know how.

He had always heard that beauty was the eye of the beholder, but he really didn’t get where Lindsay was coming from on this one. Wheat fields? He had to disagree. What was honestly so beautiful about wheat?
This was the New York skyline they were talking about. Danny wasn’t sure if he believed in its beauty because of the symbol of freedom and all that. He wasn’t that poetic, and coming from him it would probably sound like a line he was trying to feed her. But there was definitely something beautiful and comforting about seeing that skyline every day. It reminded him that he was home. And home was definitely his favorite place to be.

New day, new city, new place. Fresh start.
That’s what she told herself every morning as she got up and got ready to go to work. No one knows who you are, who you were. No one knows what happened to you—or rather, what didn’t. You get up, go to work, do your job. Easy. No one’s going to look at you strangely, no one’s going to look at you with pity. They think you’re fine. They expect you to be fine. This is what she needs.
She needs to be normal. And so far, that was what she was getting.

I loved all the CSI: NY ones (Danny has a sentimental side, deny it as he will) and particularly the final one. Really, really good insight into Lindsay and I look forward to seeing what you do wth it. Thank you so much!

i'm glad you liked yours. i actually started writing the last lindsay one, and i was ready to just go on and on and on about it, and then i remembered that it was supposed to be a drabble.
it should fit in well with my Stuff of Legends (http://iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com/tag/stuff+of+legends) series, which i kind of need to work on anyway.
