oh boy...

is it just me, or is the whole danny flying out to montana to support lindsay thing sound like something out of a fanfic?

it's not that i don't like danny/lindsay. really, it isn't. i like danny/lindsay in theory. but canon ships on procedural dramas are a really big turn-off for me. not all of them, but with CSI and CSI:NY--it is. it wasn't so much the fact that sara chose grissom over her other options, it's just that this show has been so focused on the case, their relationship--i don't really feel it has a place there. on miami i forgive it because that is just the nature of the beast. but for this--

and the whole thing that lindsay felt better and more confident because danny was there to support her? god, i could have probably read that in about fifty fics over at ff.net. big and dramatic seems to be it for this ship. there's nothing in between. and that almost kiss at the end? i never was so happy to see the paparazzi.

it's too soon for either of them to be in a relationship with each other. they both have too many issues.

and danny had one day off, no? so lindsay finished her testimony, the defense called their witnesses, both of them closed their cases, and the jury deliberated? all in one day? unless danny called in and said he was blowing off work. (and the time change isn't going to account for that much.)

i think this is probably the one episode of CSI:NY where generally, overall--i was not happy. and it kinda sucks.

although, that little flack/hawkes fight over choice of conversation? that made me smile. just a little.

I agree with you about the fanfic thing. I felt like I tripped and fell into the twilight zone for part of the episode. Which is a shame, because it had so much promise. Flack was on, as usual, and the case should have been interesting. Too bad that the romance stuff throws poo over everything else. Once again, Lindsay got a storyline that should have provided development for her character and, once again, she got shafted in favor of the D/L stuff.

And is it just me, or did Danny look...weird in some of the scenes? His facial expressions were...I dunno, they just seemed strange to me.

I need to rewatch it. Hopefully it's not as bad as I think it was...Please say it's not that bad...

the case elements were not that bad. i actually liked the case part. it was the DL stuff that dropped it in my opinion. and i feel so bad for poor lindsay because everything that happens to her has danny involved in some way. it's like watching a fanfic, and it shouldn't be.

*wants to bang her head against a wall*

canon relationships should not be on that show. period.

I know I bitch about Lindsay on a regular basis, but I swear I'd give the character a chance if they did something with her. Showing her overcoming the fear and the long-buried memories to put this bastard behind bars should have been something great for her character--but it's like the writers don't think she's worth it on her own.

I'll tell you one thing--Danny/Lindsay isn't going to make me abandon my fanon pairings--it's going to make me cling to them. (Not least of which because Danny is actually Danny in fanfic.)

Oh, and did that trial thing make any sense? Did they say why it took them so long to find him? Did it say why he walked into a cafe and shot four young women? Talk about only writing a storyline half-ass! *rolls eyes* And did I miss something with Danny's "go with your instincts" line? That statement came out of nowhere for me. Was it supposed to relate to something else? *is confused*

Uh, yeah. That's what I wanted to know. e_e

Ships in procedurals never really work. That's why I have no interest in current SVU episodes. It seems like they're giving you too much. Fanfic is where the ships should be. Althrough I have to admit I was happy whenever I noticed fic elements in this past season of The OC.

And Duke of Earl is a good song:)

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
yes it is.

and exactly! those shows don't really focus on the personal aspect of these people's lives, just the work one. therefore, the personal lives should only come in when relevant.

i'm really not happy about this.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
not even young women. they were girls. i mean, i knew lindsay was young, but i didn't think she was that young.

i mean that guy was just scary.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
but it's like the writers don't think she's worth it on her own.

if they don't think she's worth it, how could they ever expect the fans to? it's like i'm watching some kind of OC fic where she was placed in purely for danny.

Danny/Lindsay isn't going to make me abandon my fanon pairings--it's going to make me cling to them. (Not least of which because Danny is actually Danny in fanfic.)

maybe cling to them, but i'm afriad that if it becomes too much of a focus on the show--i'm not gonna watch anymore. which sucks because i really like this show. moreso than i liked CSI. i don't want to give it up, but if they keep the DL stuff up, i'm not going to be as interested anymore.

[identity profile] faylinn-drake.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
So is she supposed to be 24 or 28? Either way, I don't think the writers were using their brains. They do realize, hopefully, that you don't have to be really young to have a traumatic experience. *rolls eyes*

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
but that makes the experience even bigger, and they're not giving lindsay any real chance to develop. i dunno.

[identity profile] faylinn-drake.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
like i'm watching some kind of OC fic where she was placed in purely for danny.

No kidding. I wouldn't like her as an OFC, so why should I like her as a main character on the show? The writers aren't giving me reasons...

i don't want to give it up, but if they keep the DL stuff up, i'm not going to be as interested anymore.

I know what you mean. I haven't watched either of the other CSI shows on a regular basis since the middle of last season--CSI:NY was the only one that I loved anymore. And now, I'm starting to wonder if my continued interest has more to do with the fans and the fandom than it does the show itself.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't know. i watch miami because of the spectacle (i've learned to suspend disbelief) but NY--that was my show. i never missed an episode unless absolutely necessary, and this--it pisses me off.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-03-02 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
the case was good though. the casework was a great episode and written well, i just wished that the DL stuff hadn't overshadowed it all.

young!lindsay was way to young.

and yes, canon sucks.
