Laurel, as a general rule, didn't want to be anywhere near a crocodile on a good day.

Reptiles, as a general rule, are not something she prefers to spend a lot of time with, unless it's her turn to feed Ray's snake. Today, however, is proving to be the exception as she and Cisco wander the sewers of Central City, searching for what the reports claim to be an alligator in the sewers.

"Crocodile - it's a crocodile in the sewers," Cisco corrects as he moves behind her with his heat sensors to try and see if he can find it before they round the corner and walk smack into it. Laurel raises an eyebrow in his direction, and he continues, "Crocodiles have narrower snouts and toothy grins, gators don't."

"Does that really matter right now?"

Cisco blinks, considering again before shrugging. "I'm a scientist. It's important to be accurate."

"Right." There's another beat as she makes her way further down the sewer. "Are you sure the Canary Cry is going to work?"

"Define going to work."

"Stop the crocodile and not just make him mad and want to eat us?"

There's a long, pregnant pause. "I know it will get Barry's attention and get him here fast, hopefully before the crocodile decides to eat us."

Laurel purses her lips together, before she takes a deep breath and shakes her head. "Then let's at least hope that Barry finds him first." With his speed, he should be able to keep himself alive

"I'll keep my fingers crossed."

Neither Bruce nor Jessica were people persons so it is to no surprise that their partnership is a mess even on good days, let alone a bad one like today.

Bringing the Batman to Hell's Kitchen probably isn't the best decision she's ever made, because it stands to reason that his enemies would follow but Jessica couldn't do this on her own, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen was nowhere to be found, and Luke was still off finding himself - whatever the fuck that was supposed to mean.

Bruce is the only option she had. It was kids. She couldn't afford to lose.

(For the record, they didn't lose. But she wouldn't say they won, either.)

They're both beaten and bloody, and she pauses to close the door to her office behind them and lock it so that Malcolm doesn't accidentally stumble in. After that, without a word, she strips the leather jackets from her shoulders, revealing the bruises and cuts left by the bad guy's knife. Slow footsteps trudge their way to the bare desk in the middle of the run down apartment, and she goes into the desk drawer to pull out a bottle of whiskey and a single glass. She'll pause long enough to pour a glass and slide it down to him as he pulls off his cowl - no one's going to see his secret identity through the too-dirty windows, and even if they did, she doubted anyone in Hell's Kitchen would care.

"You did the right thing."

The words don't seem as patronizing as they do when they come from Trish - it's not Trish's fault, she just knows that Trish is trying to make her feel better, and doesn't understand what it means to take someone's life in your hands and snuff it out, just because you think you know best. For some reason, she doesn't think Bruce has that problem.

"Save the kids, right? That's all that matters?" She lifts the bottle to her lips, taking a swig and turns to head back towards the bedroom. There's a small wave as she points towards the door, ready to basically drink until she passes out. "Don't worry about locking the door on the way out."

She should probably say "thank you," at least. She'll probably remember that in the morning.

"Shawn, pineapple is not as good a flavor as you make it out to be."

There's a scoff. Then there's a sputter. Shawn turns on the woman he had considered one of his best friends, unsure how to even process this blasphemy that he normally only sees from people like his father.

"It's like I don't even know you right now."

Tonks levels him with a slight look in return, before shifting Maia in her arms as she continues to speak. "They're tart and chewy. Who likes tart and chewy fruit?"

"Me, obviously." Shawn places his hands on his hips as he continues to stare her down. "What about pina coladas? Or pineapple upside down cake? Or chocolate covered pineapple?"

"Naming pineapple foods that are covered in an obscene amount of sugar is not going to make your point any more valid."

"No, but it points out the number of delicious pineapple foods out there. I hope you don't expect me to deny Maia one of the best foods there is."

"Just wait until she's a little older, Shawn," she sighs softly. "Like when she actually has teeth to chew it with?"

Shawn considers for a moment before nodding once in agreement. "That I can work with."
