Drabble Meme

I haven't done one of these in a while.

Choose a letter of the alphabet and name a word (or you can make it a phrase if you like) that begins with that letter. Name a fandom (and character/pairing). I will write you a drabble/ficlet for that fandom based around the theme of that word. Feel free to ask for more than one!

I have many fandoms, so try me. Crossovers/OCs/RP pairings allowed.

Note: I haven't seen any of season six of Lost, so if you ask me for stuff, it'll come from an earlier perspective.

Nine to Five ~ Dark Angel/Alias ~ Alec/Lauren ~ 292 words

“Twenty three million dollars of research and development, a genius IQ, and years worth of the best training the government could afford, and the overqualified X5 is stumped by a Xerox machine?”

Alec slammed the palm of his hand into the side of machine, before glancing back at Lauren with a look that indicated he was clearly not amused. “Cute. I wasn’t trained for office work. I was trained in assassinations.”

Lauren still continued to look amused, gently nudging him out of the way in order to get to the machine and make the copies for him. “It’s really not all that complicated. I can take over for you, if you want.”

“No,” he sighed, moving his arm in front of her. “I think I’ve almost got it.” He was stubborn, and he was frustrated that something so inherently simple just wouldn’t work the way he wanted it to. He pushed a few more buttons, then hit start, drumming his fingers against the side of the machine while he waited. The paper spit out of the side of the machine, and when Alec went to pick it up, he let out a frustrated groan. “Fucking stupid machines.”

“Alec.”

He glanced back at her, before throwing up his hands and letting her move in front of him. “Go ahead. Knock yourself out.”

She smirked as she moved in front of him, pushing a few buttons, before picture perfect copies spit out the other side. He looked them over before moving next to her again, peering over her shoulder with interest.

“Okay, how’d you do that?”

Lauren laughed, before nudging his arm and pulling him away from the machine. “Let’s just say I’ll handle office duties from now on, and leave it at that.”

Reasons Why You Shouldn't Shoot a Time Agent ~ In Plain Sight/Alias ~ Marshall/Rachel ~ 309 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
“Did you know that ‘rutabaga’ is originally born of the Swedish word rotabagge, meaning ‘root ram’?”

He could tell Rachel was getting annoyed. He felt it was only fair that she be annoyed while he was stuck in the hub with a bullet hole in his shoulder. One that she, for the record, had put there. He hadn’t known that there was a No Vortex Crossing allowed rule in the Lawrence Hub. Had he known, he would have worn a bullet proof vest.

“No, I didn’t,” she quipped over her shoulder, before turning back to the computer. “Thanks for another bit of useless information.”

“Not entirely. I saw Eliot slicing up rutabagas in the kitchen. It’s important to know what’s in your food, Ms. Gibson.”

“Then I’ll keep that in mind, Mr. Mann.”

“Good.” He moved up behind her, looking over the coding she was doing with an interested eye. “What are you working on?”

“Nothing that’s any of your business,” she replied, hitting the button on the monitor to shut it off before spinning around to face him so that he could see the frustrated look on her face. “Did I do something wrong? Because I just want to do my job and I can’t do that when you’re in my space like this.”

“Well, I can’t help it if I got the wrong idea,” Marshall fired back. “It gave me such a warm and fuzzy feeling inside when you shot me!”

“I’m sorry okay?! I thought you were someone else.”

“I guess you’ve learned something now, haven’t you?” he replied with a smirk. “Don’t shoot a Time Agent. They’ll only manage to piss you off.” With that, he turned and started to head back towards the kitchen, deciding it was time to annoy someone else. “Now … I understand that you’re good friends with Bela … ”

An Apple a Day ~ White Collar/Leverage ~ Neal/Parker ~ 301 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-28 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Neal wasn’t sure when she had shown up, but he was almost sorry he missed it.

Neal could pick Parker out of a crowd without even breaking a sweat. It was all in the way she made her way through the supermarket, almost as though she was casing the place when she was just looking for fruit to buy. It had been a few years since he had seen her last, and a few months since Kate had died, and he spotted her making her way through frozen foods with a basket balanced on one arm. It was unexpected, but not unpleasant, and he couldn’t help but slide his hands into his pockets as he went to follow her.

She was with a friend—a brunette woman who was reading off a list—but the Parker mostly looked bored, as though she had better things to do than listen to the woman ramble on about whatever the topic of the moment was. Neal felt that really, the only fair thing to do was to find some way to entertain her. So he did what people in his position did best. He stole an apple out of her basket.

It was a simple brush pass, something a low caliber thief could do without even blinking, but as he did, he threw in a bit of a shoulder nudge, intending on getting her attention. She looked up, surprised, then back down at her basket to notice that the apple was gone. Neal had kept walking, and didn’t stop until he heard her voice come from behind him.

“Hey!”

He turned to face her, before flashing a grin and holding up the apple in his hand and taking a bite. When she saw him, her eyes widened.

“You.”

“Hey, Parker. Long time no see.”

Lucy, I'm Home ~ Supernatural ~ Sam/Jo ~ 308 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
When Sam came back, the first thing Jo did was chuck a hairbrush at him.

It was then followed by a pillow, the motel bible, a mini-bottle of shampoo and the remote control. They didn’t hurt much, but she didn’t miss either. Being pounded with toiletries wasn’t the welcome he was expecting after having been dead for so long, but he couldn’t say that it wasn’t fair either. He did leave her. To save the world, mind you, but he had a feeling that to Jo that didn’t really matter. In the end, he had promised her that he would come home, and instead he made her promise not to bring him back.

So that was why he sat on the bed, taking the barrage of various objects and in the process, she yelled. She yelled at him for leaving her, she yelled at him for being a stupid noble idiot, she yelled just for the sake of yelling because she didn’t understand this anymore than he did, and he didn’t have answers for her. So he just let her yell, and scream and get it out, and eventually Jo was crawling into his lap, wrapping her arms around him and leaning in to kiss him, drinking him in as though he had never been gone. He leaned in, wrapping his arms around her tightly and just enjoying the feel of her pressed against him. It had been too damn long since he could be close to anyone, and having her here—it was perfect. Too perfect, but he didn’t have the energy in him to question that now.

“Don’t you ever do that again,” she whispered, sliding her fingers through his hair as she stayed close. “Don’t you ever leave me again.”

“Never,” he whispered back, pulling her in to him and keeping her close. “I promise.”

Death Wish ~ The Losers ~ Pooch, Jensen & Cougar ~ 223 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-06-23 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
“This is a bad idea.”

Jensen looked over at Pooch with a skeptical look. Pooch knew he was going to be the odd man out on this one, but there was just something about this that screamed ‘bad idea.’ In fact, generally speaking anything that even remotely concerned Aisha was a bad idea in his book, therefore the idea to play some kind of grade school prank on her?

“This is a spectacularly bad idea.”

“Come on, Pooch,” Jensen teased. “Aisha and Clay have had this coming for a while. Even you gotta admit that.”

“Okay, Clay, maybe. But does anybody else here agree with me that going after Aisha is a spectacularly bad idea? Y’all did see when she got all happy with the explosives not too long ago when somebody pissed her off.”

“Pooch. Let’s think about this. We—” Jensen gestured rapidly between the three of them. “—are the pranks masters. I think even Aisha can acknowledge the exceptional carry-through of a good prank.”

“Uh-huh.”

“Just watch, dude. You’ll see.”

Pooch glanced over at Cougar, who glanced up from where he was cleaning his rifle and shrugged. Pooch sighed and ran a hand over his face, before heading back towards the van. “I’ll be in the car. When y’all are done with your death wishes, you let me know.”

Coug gives thumbs up on the whole pranks idea. Not that he'll say it, but he wouldn't want the team to get too gloomy or anything.

Pooch doesn't have a problem with pranks. He just thinks that they should choose who they play those pranks on very carefully.

*snickers* You should get out more with the cast? (Yeah, I know, most don't crosspost, sigh.) She might even be fine with the prank.

... if they survive her original reaction. Which I think Coug's working on. ;)

LOL yeah, I should but Pooch is one of the voices that comes and goes, and I don't really watch SWS. I was just basing this more off movie canon.

And Aisha does really scare the crap out of Pooch.

Oh, she scares the crap out of everybody with an ounce of sanity. It's just that some of them are insane enough to go for it anyway. Ahem.

yeaaah. While, for all that he doesn't say many words, Coug tends to be very loud all the time. ... okay, not loud. Present. And expressive.

Also, let me know if you would like me to link you to dl for the comics...

Nice Try ~ Supernatural ~ Dean & Sam ~ 339 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
There were some parts that Dean loved about being a big brother. There was someone for him to shove his work off on, someone for him to hang out with when Dad was away on a hunt, just someone for him to spend his time with. But then there were the times when Sam was just a brat. He whined, he complained, he asked stupid questions. It was a pain in the ass, but it was his little brother so Dean did what he could for him. It was his job.

“Dean, I don’t wanna go to the stupid show.”

Now, was one of those times when he really hated his job.

“It’ll be awesome, Sammy, I promise.”

“I wanna go play on the Zero G machine.”

“We don’t have enough money for that, Sam, and they need Dad’s permission.”

Sam sulked at that, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he slumped down against the wall. Sam was ten and a major brat, but Dad had given them enough money to run around at the planetarium for the day—and that included the afterhours laser light show featuring the music of one of the most awesome rock bands ever. Dean glanced over at Sam, before rolling his eyes.

“Don’t give me that face, dude.”

“I don’t want to be here, Dean.”

“It’ll be over before you know it. Who knows? You might actually like it.”

Sam glared up at him at that, and then slumped into silence against the wall. There was still another half hour before the show went up, and there was a really pretty girl in line next to him, but talking to these her didn’t let him take his mind off his brother. Dean was a ass man—not an idiot. He caught just enough of a glimpse of Sam wandering off out of the corner of his eye. His hand snapped out, grabbed Sam by the back of his collar and yanked him back against him.

“Nice try, Sammy.”

“You suck.”

Fat Darrell ~ Supernatural ~ Dean & Ben ~ 606 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-07-01 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
“This? Is the most awesome sandwich in the world,” Dean replied, handing the Fat Darrell over to Ben. “Well, one of them. But I will bet you twenty bucks that you won’t be able to finish that on your own.”

“How do you know?” Ben shot back with a look. He was sitting on the hood of the Impala, kicking his legs back and forth while he studied the sandwiches. The Braedan-Winchester clan was on their way to New York City, and Dean had insisted, for reasons unknown, that New Brunswick be a spot on the way. Lisa had wandered off to look at some of the college information (never too early, really) while Dean and Ben settled in for lunch. Dean had ordered a Fat Cat for himself, but he decided that Ben needed something considerably less artery clogging. “I can eat a lot. Mom says I’m a bottomless pit.”

“Yeah, well, this can fill up a bottomless pit,” Dean said with a smirk as he pushed himself up on the hood to sit next to him. “Trust me.”

Ben shifted closer to peer into the bag for a minute. “I still don’t see why it’s the best sandwich in the world. I didn’t even come with fries.”

“Yes it did.”

“Well, where are they?”

“They’re in the sandwich.” Dean watched him as he took a bit of his sandwich. Ben processed that for a minute, before looking up at him with a grin.

“Seriously?”

“Yup.”

“Awesome.”

“Just don’t make yourself sick, alright?” Dean replied, ruffling his hair gently before going back to eating. Ben nodded, starting to make his way through the sandwich as Dean looked around, getting the feel for the place.

“How’d you know about this place? Did you go to school here?”

“Nah,” Dean shook his head. “I just passed through once. I didn’t go to college.”

“Why not?”

Dean shrugged. “Just wasn’t in the cards for me, I guess. Sammy was just starting high school, my dad needed me around, we didn’t really have the money—it just wasn’t something that was going to work out.”

Ben nodded. “Do you wish you did?”

“Not really,” he replied, shaking his head. “I wouldn’t have fit in out here. Besides, I wasn’t as worried as Sam was about being normal. I just wanted to stay with my family.” He paused for a minute, as he realized how that sounded. “But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Your mom might skin me alive if I told you that.”

“So you didn’t go, and you don’t wish you did, but you think I should?” Ben gave him a skeptical look. “I don’t get it.”

Dean laughed. “School was never gonna work out for me. I knew that from the get go. But you stand a better chance than I do. You have the opportunity, you should take it. I want you to go, alright?” He knew that that had been the biggest thing when Sam and their dad were going through this—John didn’t want Sam to leave and that just made it harder. But Dean was giving permission. “And if by the time you get to be eighteen and you really don’t want to—you get to hash that out with your mom.”

Ben chuckled, before taking another bite of his sandwich. “This thing is huge.”

“Told you.”

“Think it’ll still be good to eat if I saved half of it for later?”

“Dunno. Never tried that.” Dean shrugged. “We could nuke it and see what happens.”

“Does that mean I still lose the bet?”

“Yup.”

Man.”

“It’s okay, buddy. You’ll catch up someday.”

Welcome Home ~ Supernatural ~ Sam/Bela ~ 283 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-07-22 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
“What … happened to the living room?”

Sam’s head poked out from under the pile of pillows in the center of the room, and flashed Bela a grin. Bela, however, didn’t look amused. She had only gone away for a few days, but apparently that was enough for her home to be completely rearranged by her husband and children. Sam didn’t even falter at the look, and just continued to grin. “Hey, honey. How was your flight?”

“Fine,” she said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “What happened to the living room?”

Sam proceeded to give her an innocent face before responding. “We built a pillow fort?”

“Pillow igloo, Daddy,” Michael corrected, before crawling out ahead of his father and wrapping his arms around his mother’s legs. “It’s a pillow igloo.”

“Well, what is the pillow igloo doing in my living room?” she said with a smirk ad she scooped her son up off the floor.

“We’re going on an adventure!” he said with a grin as he wrapped his arms around her neck. “And we needed a place to sleep. We even made it big enough for Daddy.”

“Cuz they kinda built it around me,” Sam said with a bit of a chuckle, and Bela laughed before placing Michael down again.

“Alright, love. Time to let Daddy out of the igloo.”

“Do I have to?”

“Yes, because I missed him and want to prove as much.” Michael sighed heavily, before moving towards the pillows and starting to pull them away. When Sam was finally revealed Bela smirked at him before moving closer and leaning in to kiss him. “Nice to see you, love.”

“Nice to see you, too. Welcome home.”

Only the Light ~ Supernatural/Firefly ~ Sam/River ~ 349 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-24 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No candlesticks.

The Light didn’t need them. He liked the feel of the wax slipping down between his fingers, a hot sting then a cool crust that cracked when his knuckles bent. He moved his fingers, fingers that weren’t his own, fingers that belonged to the person that stretched out inside him, clawing on the walls to fight his way to the surface. Sam. No one could see Sam, no one but the Light and only when he looked in the mirror.

But River could see Sam.

She could see him in the cracks of the mirror, hear him whisper as he scrambled for the surface, trying to take back what was his, the thing that he had given away. The Light couldn’t touch you unless you let it. The Light didn’t burn—everything else did.

They found him on Miranda, lost in the world that had gone to sleep or gone mad and somehow he was neither. He called himself Luke, said he was stranded here by the reavers, but River could smell their blood on his skin. She could smell the ash and soot, she could see the torment, and the two faces—one that belonged to him and one that didn’t. Mal took pity on him, let him on the ship but that was a mistake—the Light intended to murder them all without a second thought, but not until they got him where he wanted to go.

So River watched him. Watched him from the corners of her mind, and with the corners of her eyes. You couldn’t look at the light, not directly. Angels burned white hot with fire and power, and the Light was no exception. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see him inside, wasting away for hundreds of years in a place so dark that not even the Light could make it brighter. He begged, pleaded clawed at the pieces of broken glass, asking for anyone to see him, to help him.

I see you, Sam.

What she didn’t know was whether or not he could see her.

Sparks Fly ~ Heroes/Angel ~ Elle/Gwen ~ 437 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-28 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Elle knew that from the moment they met, they were going to be trouble.

Not that she minded. Elle, as a general rule, liked trouble. It was part of that moving van sized bit of baggage Elle had carried around with her everyday and while she knew that Gwen’s baggage was just as bad—worse in some points—she couldn’t help but find herself drawn to the woman. After all, sparks literally flew when they met. That had to mean something. What she really couldn’t get enough of, though, was the contact.

She got why Gwen couldn’t touch other people. Unlike Elle’s ability, where the current flexed inward, Gwen’s pushed out, searching for ground and contact, just like she was. Most people couldn’t handle the current, but Elle, who had been living with this her whole life, suddenly became one of the only people on Earth that Gwen could touch without sending them into cardiac arrest. And soon after that, the woman became obsessed with getting as much contact as possible.

Not that Elle was complaining.

Elle wasn’t big on trying to figure out her sexuality. She had spent so much of her childhood deprived of actual contact that she would take her contact wherever she could get it. She saw the way boys looked at her and she liked that, liked the way it felt, but she didn’t get that she was only supposed to swing one way. She liked it just as much when a girl looked at her that way. With Gwen, though, it wasn’t looks—it was touches.

At first it wasn’t much. A brush here, a squeeze there—something that brought the drag of skin on skin, and the opportunity to feel the sparks that jumped between their bodies. At first, Elle took the contact as just that—contact—but there was something about it that made her want to get closer, to feel more, and it didn’t take long for Elle to get the message and make the first move. That first kiss made the recess lighting flicker.

They knew they were playing with fire, but that didn’t mean they wanted to stop, either. Soon there was more contact, more skin, more sparks, and none of that baggage mattered. It was all about the contact and the pleasure, wanting more and just needing. Their bodies continued to rub together, finding the places that felt the best, and it wasn’t long before they were both losing themselves completely. When Elle came, she knocked out the power for the entire apartment building.

She really couldn’t find the energy to feel bad about that.

Something Next to Normal ~ Supernatural/Buffy the Vampire Slayer ~ Sam/Dawn ~ 488 words

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2010-05-28 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
“Sam. Saaaaaaam. Oh, Sam.”

Sam shoved the pillow over his head, trying to drown out the sounds of the person on the other side of the door. He knew who it was. He really didn’t want to deal with who it was right then. It was only bound to get complicated and messy and bring in a life that he went to Stanford to escape from, and somehow, one small incident with a ghost that left her and him in a graveyard together talking about their lives and somehow, he became Dawn Summers new best friend. He didn’t like it—in fact, he barely even knew this girl—but Sam was too nice of a guy to tell her that.

Which was why Dawn was banging on his dorm room door a seven in the morning.

He heard his roommate shuffle and go to the door when Sam wouldn’t get up, and there was some muffled conversation as he let Dawn into the room. A few minutes later, his roommate was gone, and Dawn was yanking the pillow from his head.

“Hey, Sam!”

Sam groaned as he rolled over, looking up at the smiling face above him with a sigh. “Dawn, it’s only been a few hours.”

“Yeah, I know, but I have class all day, and I wanted to talk to you really quick.”

“ … I have a cell phone, you know.” He shifted so that he was sitting up and looking at her, rubbing his eyes. “You could have used that.”

“Yeah, I could have, but there’s more of a chance for you to hang up on me.” Her head ducked a bit sheepishly at that. “I mean, it’s happened before. Especially after I managed to take care of a vamp, or done something else weird and screwy that gives away the whole ‘monsters are real’ thing, and it just … ” She was quiet for a moment, before running a hand through her hair. “It’s just nice knowing there’s someone here who I can be normal with, ya know? Someone I don’t have to lie to.”

Sam looked up, watching her for a moment and considering that. “Yeah. I understand that.”

At that, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. It was a weird thing to be excited about, but it didn’t bother him so much. Because she had a point. He didn’t have to lie to her about what was out there. Thanks to her sister, she already knew. “Great. And I swear, I’m not some kind of weirdo freak who spends all her time in graveyards and stuff. I get out. I go to the movies or go to concerts—you know, fun normal stuff. That we could maybe do together sometime?”

“Yeah, sure,” Sam laughed, before moving over to the door to let her out. “Just—next time, call first?”

She laughed as well before nodding. “Yeah—I’ll do that.”

He had to say, she was a pretty little thing.

Not his usual type, but there was still some appeal. Long brown hair and all girl next door and it did make him think of the things he could do to her. She wouldn’t look as good in a white dress, no blond hair to remind Dean of every other blond that he had left along the way, but that had been before he stopped by Nebraska, and left that perky blond bartender that Dean had had his eye on bloodied and broken for his brother and her mother to find.

He almost wished he had been there to see the look on Ellen’s face. He’d seen Dean broken before, so that was nothing new, but Ellen—Ellen would have been a sight to see.

He needed to move on, though. He made his way to a small town in Kansas called, of all things, Smallville and just settled in until he could find a target. And that target came in the form of a pretty small town girl named Lana Lang. In fact, he was so close to sealing this deal that he could taste her blood on his tongue. It was just a matter of time.

He slid into his regular seat at the counter in the Talon, and couldn’t help but return the smile she flashed him as she topped off another customer. As she made her way down the counter to him, she set the coffee pot down and rest her elbows on the counter. “What can I get you today, Sam?”

“Actually, I was wondering if you’d be willing to have dinner with me.” She looked a little surprised at that, and he just gave her an innocent if not sheepish smile. “It’s my last night in town. I’ve been trying to work up the nerve to ask you out all week.”

She gave a sheepish head duck of her own at that, before nodding. “I’d love to have dinner with you, Sam.”

“Fantastic,” he grinned. “You’ve just made my day.”

“I don’t know how much more I can take of this, SVU.”

Anderson was sitting in the middle of his living room, trying to stop the oncoming headache that was resulting from the little girl with the violin that was sitting in the next room. He loved his daughter, more than his own life, but a musician she was not. Musician she would never be. And while he admired her willingness to try, this bout with the violin wasn’t going to end well.

“She’s just trying new things, Anderson,” Rachel smirked at him through the phone. “She’s a kid, and therefore allowed to do so.”

“I know that. I am very aware. Believe me.” Anderson groaned and ran a hand over his face. “I just wish she’d figure out that music is not her strong suit a little sooner.”

“I felt the same way about Robert’s attempt at art, but sometimes kids just need to figure things out for himself.”

“Yeah, well—Robert’s art didn’t do any damage to your hearing.” He sighed again as the music finally stopped, sending up a silent prayer to God in thanks, before turning back to his phone conversation again. “Anyway, you still owe me a beer.”

“I owe you no such thing,” she snorted from the other end of the line.

“You totally lost that bet about McCallahan kid being a boy.”

“That was not a bet! We never shook on it.”

“SVU, don’t make me be annoying about this.”

There was a heavy sigh on the other end of the line before she responded. “We will discuss this later. I have to get to work.”

“You could always make it up to me and bring me dinner instead?”

“Later, Vice.”

“Fine. Have fun at work.” He hung up the phone, and looked over at his daughter as she came out and plopped down next to him.

“I’m not good at the violin, Daddy.”

“I know, babygirl. I know.”
