Fandom: Castle/Supernatural
Title: On the Ramblings of a Fangirl
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iluvroadrunner6
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Dean Winchester, Alexis and Rick Castle
Content Warning: Spoilers through 504: The End, but mostly for 501: Sympathy for the Devil. A nice heaping of crack.
Summary: Alexis Castle wasn’t what you would call a rabid fangirl, exactly.
Author’s Note: Happy belated birthday, [livejournal.com profile] wayitcomes! This isn’t the actual birthday present? This is just a little side excerpt of the much bigger piece that I am working on and will have for you soon. Alexis just got SUPER SUPER LOUD about this, and it didn’t really fit in where I was planning on the piece going? So it goes here! Kind of like a deleted scene.
Disclaimer: I own nothing. They belong to Kripke, Joss and ABC. I’m just borrowing and will put everything back where I found it.

Alexis Castle wasn’t what you would call a rabid fangirl, exactly.

She was a reader, like her dad. She liked to delve into fictional worlds, escape for a little while into something new and too out there to be real. Her current vice of choice were the Supernatural books by Carter Edlund, which her father would never truly understand. He thought the plot was too contrived and dark to ever really be popular, but Alexis really didn’t care. The books were just something fun, and she couldn’t help but get drawn in to the brothers’ story. After all, who doesn’t want to read about two hot brothers who drive around kicking all kinds of ass. It was every teenage girl’s dream come true. She even poked around at the different forums and things, as well as making a few friends who were also fans. She wouldn’t say she was obsessed, not really, but the interactive part of things did make it much more fun. But she would never, ever deny the fact that some of her online friends were buckets of crazy.

Becky being a big one.

Becky was a Sam girl, which was admirable in some respects (Alexis herself was firmly planted in the Dean camp), but that wasn’t what made her a crazy one. If the hardcore Wincest shipping wasn’t enough, she actually thought the boys were real. There had been a post a few months back, her spazzing about how Sam and Dean’s real last name was Winchester and they really were fighting the Apocalypse, and—well, Alexis loved Becky most of the time, but, honestly—heaping helping of crazy.

Alexis didn’t spend a lot of time in the Kate’s precinct either, unless she was looking for either Kate or her father, and in this case it happened to be the latter. He had promised her to take her out to dinner as an apology for not being around as much while he was working this case, but that was starting to look like it wasn’t going to happen. Esposito told her to take a seat on one of the rows of chairs on the other end of the bullpen to wait. She did, settling down next to a tall, good-looking guy in a leather jacket. She didn’t think much of him at first until she noticed the handcuffs wrapped around his wrist.

“What’d you do?” she blurted out before she realized it, before her head ducked sheepishly. “If you don’t mind my asking.”

He smirked a bit at that. “Nothing really—stumbled onto a crime scene without realizing what was going on, and they think I might have something to do with it.” The tone of his voice indicated that he may or may not have been in this kind of situation before, and she just nodded along before leaning back against the bench.

“I see.”

She could tell he was watching her, and she could also hear the smirk in his tone when he spoke up again. “What? Don’t believe me?”

“You just ‘happened’ to stumble onto a crime scene, so they cuff you? I don’t think that’s how it works.”

“Yeah, well,” he said slowly as his eyes shifted back to the rest of the desks again. “I also might have been a suspect in something like this before so … they can’t be too careful.”

“Uh-huh,” Alexis grinned as she turned to look at him before extending a hand out to him. “Alexis Castle.”

“Roger Plant.” A beat. “Isn’t the guy with the writer vest named Castle?”

“Isn’t … Roger Plant from Led Zeppelin?” she countered and he raised an eyebrow.

“Aren’t you a little young for Zeppelin?”

She shrugged. “My dad grew up with it. Plus there’re these books, and … ” She paused for a minute, before shaking her head. “Never mind.”

If she had been looking up, she might have seen the other eyebrow go up in hesitation. “Books?”

“Yeah,” she admitted sheepishly. “The Supernatural books by Carver Edlund? One of the main characters is a big Zeppelin fan.”

“Yeah, I, uh—I think I’ve heard of those,” he nodded. “You think they’re good?”

“I like ‘em,” she said with a smile. “I love the brothers’ relationship—you don’t see a whole lot like ‘em.”

“Really?”

“I mean, yeah—that kind of unquestioning devotion? Totally doesn’t come around everyday. It’s … admirable.” She shrugged. “I’d want a brother like Dean.” A beat. “Well, not totally like Dean because selling your soul and dying for someone is a little much, but—yeah. The way he looks after Sam, it’s—sweet.”

“Huh,” he said with a nod.

“And he’s a total badass.”

At that he smiled. “Well, yeah. Otherwise he wouldn’t be nearly as awesome.”

“Clearly,” she said with a smirk.

“So I take it you’re a ‘Dean girl’ then?”

“Oh yeah,” she grinned. “Don’t get me wrong—Sam’s pretty cool, but he kinda whines a lot.”

“He does, doesn’t he?”

“ALEXIS!”

Her head turned and snapped in the direction of her father’s voice, and when he started to frantically gesture for her to come closer, she sighed heavily before turning back to ‘Roger.’ “That’s my dad. But it was nice talking books with you.”

“You too,” he said with a smirk as she got up and headed to the other side of the bullpen. The minute she got there, her father’s hand latched onto her arm and started to pull her off to the side.

“Who said you could sit and talk next to a wanted felon?”

“Wanted … what?” she frowned, confused. “Esposito said to sit and wait, and he was just … there. Dad, c’mon—”

“Do you know who that is?” he said as he raised his eyebrows. “He’s Dean Winchester. He’s wanted for murders in three different states at least, and last everyone heard, he was dead.”

She paused. Then blinked. “Wait, he’s who?”

“Never mind.” He started to drag her off from the room and towards the door. “We’re going home.”

Alexis didn’t bother to argue that they were supposed to be going out and just continued to follow her father’s lead out the door. But as she left she couldn’t help but glance back over her shoulder towards the man who was sitting still handcuffed on the bench. Becky was a big heaping helping of crazy, that much was true, but—it couldn’t be. Fictional characters weren’t real

… Were they?

This is too cute :) I love Alexis, and the idea that she's a Supernatural fangirl is inspired.
