Summary: Neal’s called in to assist the Jeffersonian, and Booth is keeping a very close eye on him.
Author’s Note: Crossover suggested by alison_sky. Not the characters she wanted, but this was the one that came to mind first. That and my Mozzie voice is a little rusty. But Mozzie will come later.

“The brush strokes on this are exquisite.” Neal leaned over to get a closer look at the canvas. “Whoever did this, they are very, very good.”

“So this isn’t the real deal,” Angela responded. “Just a really, really good fake.”

“Unfortunately so,” Neal sighed, before moving over to one of the people on the painting. “Genuine artists can’t ever resist signing their work.” Angela leaned in closer to him, looking to see where the finger was pointing to. It took her a minute, before a smile crossed her face.

“I see it. The glasses on the guy on the left—the L, A and C written into the frames.”

“You have a very good eye,” he smirked, turning to face her, taking advantage of her proximity to turn on the charm. “And very nice perfume. What is that?”

“Hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. No hitting on Angela.” They both looked up to see Booth coming into the room, looking clearly unamused. “You’re here as a consultant, not to make your way through the women of the crime lab.”

“He was consulting, Booth,” Angela laughed, shaking her head. “He found the forger’s signature.”

“Considering I am doing this for you as a favor for Burke, a little more faith in my character would be nice,” Neal replied. “You do trust him, don’t you?”

“I trust Peter Burke to have my back in a fire fight, and that you know what you’re talking about. That does not mean I trust you around my people.”

Neal rolled his eyes and Angela just gave Booth a look. “Booth. I’m a big girl. I can handle it when a guy’s flirting with me.”

“You sure?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “Cuz if he’s told us what we need to know, I can just haul him out of here.”

“I’m sure. Now go. We’ll call you when we actually have something relevant.”

Booth gave them both wary looks before backing out the door and heading back towards the rest of the squints. Angela just shook her head again, before turning back to Neal with a smirk.

“Now, what were you saying about my perfume?”

Well, he's allowed to go when an agent is with him, so if Booth keeps an eye on him, I figured it would work?

I can imagine... I have trouble with a *lot* of the characterization on "Bones", but then, I thought they'd "jumped the shark" back when they f*cked over poor Zack and turned him into a serial-killer's Igor-like sidekick. WTF??? No, really: WTF??? I *still* don't believe that plot twist, and HATE HATE HATE the writers/creators who came up with it.
::hugs poor maligned and character-assassinated Zack and puts him back where he belongs, and waves Magic AU Wand to make that whole storyline Never-Happened::

If you want to write more with the other characters (even AU-which-should-be-Canon Zack-who's-NOT-a-serial-killer-accomplice!), instead of Tempe, go for it... :-)

Objectively speaking, I think that storyline actually did a lot for Zack as a character. Without it, he would have just been a boy Brennan. Brennan is highly rational, but she's had a lot of loss in her life, that allows her to still deal with things from an emotional perspective. She doesn't like to give into that, but it's there.

With Zack, he was just the rational mind. Sure, he had his own quirks, but before he went to Iraq, he had never had something that threw him completely off balance the way the war had. Add to the fact that he couldn't assimilate with his unit and that was why he was discharged, it wasn't at all far fetched to me that when Gormogon offered him an out, in this vulnerable position that he was in, he took it.

Mind you, I adore Zack as a character, and hate that he was put through this But I can see the rationale.

I appreciate that it's your opinion, and it's your right to have it, but I actually adore Sweets. Also, the rant is a little unnecessary. While I may like or dislike characters, just as everyone else does, I don't go ranting about how I want to "castrate [them] with a rusty spoon" in other people's personal space.

It's your opinion, and it's your right to have it, but please keep the graphic details out of my journal. A simple "No, I don't think that would be a good idea because I don't like the character" would have sufficed.
