“You know, when you said you were taking me home? Thought it’d be a little more … homey.”

Faith turned on to face Flack as she went into the hotel room, smirking in a way that was uncomfortable. He wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing yet, but Faith was dangerous enough that he was keeping his distance. There was something out of control about her, unbridled and unyielding, and in some ways, her name was appropriate. Whatever it was she was doing, she threw herself into it whole heartedly, which was what faith was—a whole hearted trust in something.

But it was the same physical honesty that made him want to push away. That was what made her dangerous. She wasn’t shy about what she wanted, and when it was close enough, she tended to take it. Even if he believed that the guy she killed was an accident, even if he believed about all this supernatural stuff—getting close to Faith was like dancing around a lighted candle. You put your hand in the wrong place at the wrong time and you were going to get burned.

After everything that had happened with Jess, the last thing Flack wanted to do was get burned.

“And miss out on treating you to a night at one of New York’s decent hotels on the NYPD? I’m surprised.” He dropped his jacket down on the back of one of the chairs, before sitting down in it himself. “You probably haven’t stayed like this in a while.”

“What can I say, I prefer a place with a personal touch.” She glanced over at him as she shed her jacket herself, stretching a bit as she moved. His eyes were automatically drawn to the curve of her back, even though he knew that she was doing it on purpose, and he hated that. “You plannin’ on stayin’?”

“You think the NYPD was going to just slap an ankle bracelet on you?”

“And they stick me with the guy cop? That’s a little unorthodox.”

“Lindsay’s coming to cover me—I’m just waiting here until she gets off shift.”

Faith glanced down at her watch, before moving closer to him. “That gives us a little bit of time, then.” He was about to correct her, tell her that that wasn’t a lot of time at all, but she was already leaning closer to him, running her hand up his chest as she placed one knee between his legs to hold him in place. “We can get to know each other better.”

His eyes closed and he pushed her away, hands on her hips holding her in place. “Faith—”

She sighed, heavily, before pushing away from him, and reaching for the bottom of her shirt, stripping it off as he walked towards the bathroom. “I’ll be in the shower then.” She glanced back and gave him a grin. “If you change your mind.”

He wouldn’t—couldn’t for that matter.

But damn.

Hee. I can totally see Flack being thrown by her. Eventually I'll go through and read the whole series, but I am including the masterpost in my big fic rec post. You have your own little sections since a huge chunk of fic I have to read is yours.

I'm glad you liked it.
