OC Backstory - Michael Anderson
Fic's not working for me today. But apparently writing OC bios are. Yay!

Age: 28
Parents: Robert and Joan Anderson
Siblings: Nicholas, Rebecca and Marian Anderson
Children: Elizabeth Anderson (with Lauren Mullvaney)
Michael Anderson was the youngest of four, and grew up in a relatively uneventful household. His father wasn’t home much, having to travel a lot for business, and when her mother suddenly became pregnant to him, it was a surprise and shock to all, considering his parents weren’t exactly sure when he had been conceived. There was a ten year difference between himself and his oldest brother, Nick, but Mike still developed a strong relationship with him, being like a substitute father to him when his real father was out of town. He also had a close relationship to his older sister, Marian, who was the second youngest, because they were the closest in age to each other. However, when Nick started to get into high school, he became involved with the wrong crowd in high school, and things started to get tough between him and their parents. Things finally came to a head when Nick was eighteen, and he and his parents got into an explosive fight about his activities. Nick stormed out, and their family hasn’t seen him since. Mike has never really forgiven his brother for abandoning him like he did, and a lot of his anger is towards him.
When Mike got to high school, he followed someone of the same path his brother did. He was smart, and applied himself when he decided to attend class, but most of the time he would ditch class to smoke pot with his crowd in the back field behind the high school. When he was in class, he would get into fights with the other kids—mostly the jocks and the more popular kids, who would start spreading rumors about his family—and wound up getting suspended several times. It finally came to a head when he was sixteen, and he was arrested for assaulting the guy his girlfriend at the time had dumped him for. Since it was his first offense, he was tried in juvenile court and given probation and an order for anger management counseling. He dropped out of high school after that, earning his GED by the time he was seventeen, and getting his Associate’s in Business by the time he was nineteen.
He didn’t handle the group anger management classes well, but managed to get through them, and it was recommended that he take on private sessions with the psychologist in question. He was against it at first, but his mother pushed him to do it, so he relented and did it for her. He wound up getting along really well with the psychologist, Dr. Greg Montgomery, and he’s been going to him ever since.
After that he was at a bit of a loss with what to do with himself after he graduated, not wanting to head on to a four-year school at that point in time. Finding he had enough credits to enter the police academy, he decided to give it a shot, and since his record was sealed and expunged when he turned eighteen, he fit all the requirements. While he knew he was going to have the issues with authority, he found that the disciplined nature of the job was good for him, and he worked hard to make sure he didn’t screw it up. He worked hard to climb through the ranks, moving from uniform to detective by the time he was twenty-six. Then he was assigned to Vice, where he was set up to work with Jake McCallahan as his partner, as well as Darren Mullvaney and Theresa Cassavelli.
Mike is especially attached to his mother. He saw the way his brother broke her heart when he ran off, and when she asks him to do something, he’ll most likely do it without a fuss. He’s not as close with his father, because he’s not around often, but respects him enough not to fight with him that much. He still has issues if he feels like he’s being blocked in from too many sides, and if he feels like his father is cornering him, he’ll lash back.
His oldest sister, Rebecca, is more like the mother hen of the three of them. She married and had three kids with her high school sweetheart, Eddie Walker. She lives in upstate New York so he doesn’t see her much, but when it comes to planning and organizing family events, Rebecca is the one they turn to. Mike and Marian both play a part in spoiling their sister’s children rotten, just because they can.
Mike and Marian are very close. Despite the fact that he’s a detective and she’s a defense attorney, they still have very similar points of view, and get along rather well with each other. Marian married a local chef named Warren Hunter. Mike wasn’t sure about him at first—he thought the guy was too nice for his sister—but he eventually warmed up to the guy, and is one of the most frequent customers at his restaurant.
