Rants because I was up before 9:30 on my day off, so I think it's making me a little cranky (and I know it's nearly 11, but I had to go into work for some kind of mandatory meeting at 9 AM. Ridiculous, I know.) Two of these are in the direction of my job, and one is more of a cranky question in the direction in general. Also, the ones about my job didn't happen today, just saved up from when I was too tired to post.



One:

Parents, people who are going to be parents (maybe, someday), when you drop your children off in a place you will not be accompanying them, make sure they know where the proper place is to take a leak. I'm sure the attentdants/employees of the place in question would very much appreciate it.

Two:

Dear Person of Supposedly 21 Years of Age,

Why on Earth are you walking around without identification? Will you please try to explain that to me? YOU'RE TWENTY-ONE YEARS OLD. YOU LIVE IN NEW JERSEY. You'd think you'd at least have a driver's license by this point, or maybe a non-driver ID that says how old you are? Why didn't you bring it with you?

You wish to attend a RATED R movie, do you expect us to just magically deduce that you are 21 and able to buy tickets for not just you, but your girlfriend (concubine? slut-of-the-week? Nasty, I know, but she pissed me off) as well? I am not telepathic. Just because you LOOK over the age of seventeen, doesn't mean that I'm going to just assume that you are and let you in. I have to card to 25 years old. If I let you in, without ID, and someone not so friendly found out about it? THE THEATER COULD BE FEDERALLY PROSECUTED. I'm not going to put us in that kind of trouble, just because you want to go see Angelina Jolie shoot stuff up.

Secondly, your girlfriend cursing me out because I wouldn't sell you tickets? So very not necessary. I'm just doing my job. Tough shit if you don't like it. And I hope that Marisol shut you down real fast when you took the situation to her.

Not to say that I'm not guilty of not liking a ship the way I see it on TV, but I'd like to at least think that I have reasons for not liking one of the characters in the ship that are not just because they're coming between one of my favorite pairings. I mean, maybe it's because I'm an insane multishipper of doom, but I really don't see the point of OTP'ng all that much (except for situations like Dean/Impala. Because really. Nothing comes between a boy and his car) because I like to see chemistry all over the place, and true, I have some ships that I prefer over others, but here's my question --

Why do people insist on not liking a couple female characters on a certain show just because they dare to have chemistry with a couple males they relentlessly pair with another one of the female (or male, if that's the case) characters?

I mean, I think I have more of this issue with Angell than I do with Rikki. Seriously, what did Angell ever do, other than have a couple interesting partner moments with Flack and Danny? She's a good character, Emmaunelle more than holds her own with the rest of the cast, and she's fun to watch. I hate it when people tell me they hate her because they're "too die-hard a [insert Flack and/or Danny ship here] to like her. I think I had the same issues with the people who disliked Peyton because they thought she was coming between Stella and Mac. Which is kind of ridiculous, because at the end of the day, you know Mac and Stella are still going to have the bond they have -- they're THAT close. Just because they don't start doing the nasty is no reason to throw a fit.

Then again, I don't really ship Mac/Stella, but -- whatever. Back to the point.

I ship Flack/Angell. I also ship Flack/Stella. I ship Flack/Lindsay, too. I even ship Flack/Maka, and they never even had a scene together. They're all able to coexist rather peacefully in my head. I don't get why the shippers have to be so against such a great opportunity, and awesome chemistry that I see on screen between Emmanuelle and Eddie, just because it's not Melina/Anna/Gary/Carmine/Hill/Claire (in my case, anyway. I don't think very many people other than me and maybe goddess_loki ship Flack/Peyton).

But then again, far be it from me to tell people where to see chemistry. I just really have a hard time understanding what's wrong with using an opportunity to take advantage of good chemistry, just because it wasn't there before.

Anyway, at the very bottom of this, I don't hate Rikki. I'm rather pissed at Danny for his actions, not her for helping him carry them out. And yes, while I do understand it takes two to tango, I have a feeling that if Rikki even knew Lindsay existed, she wouldn't have done what she did. She just doesn't seem the seductress type, especially considering that she was telling Danny that she thought they should stop before things went to shit for him. Remember that? The scene in his kitchen? So yeah, Rikki =/= spawn of Satan. At least not in my mind. I think that Danny fucked up a bit too royally for his character, but I'm not mad at Rikki.

However, if she comes back next season, and she shows up knocked up, I am so done with this show. Now matter how much I love Flack, Hawkes, and Angell. It's just not worth my time anymore.
