Eric/Erica - Back in Miami
So i was watching CSI:Miami tonight and omg! Erica! so naturally i felt inspired to work on my
psych_30 prompts, and i'm pretending that the eminent domain piece that ryan mentioned was before erica left miami, and then she went to NY for a while, and she's back to cover hurricane season for the NY station she works for. and this pairing is becoming easier to write, now that i have a storyline and stuff. further more, this was just fun to write.
and omg! they have pretty new pictures of eric and calleigh up for their bios at cbs.com. miami made me really happy today. it felt nice.

Eric spotted her talking to Ryan, and he felt a smirk cross his face. He knew he probably shouldn’t approach her. The lab wasn’t the time nor the place. Besides, she was talking to Wolfe. He didn’t need Wolfe to know what he was doing on his vacation. That wasn’t any of his business. But he wasn’t going to let a chance to talk to her slip through his fingers. After all, he didn’t know how long she was back in Miami for. Had to talk to her while he had the chance.
Her leaving had been the major reason that really forced him to let her go. She claimed she had gotten a reporter job in New York somewhere, and when he last heard, she was driving NYPD up a wall instead of MDPD. He wondered if she missed it. He figured she probably didn’t miss the weather, but if she missed everything else. If she missed him. He turned back to Calleigh with a smile.
“I think I’ll go get some lunch. You want anything?”
However the fact that he was offering to buy lunch spread like wildfire, and by the time he actually got out to the parking lot he was afraid he had missed her. But she was just heading out to her car, the small sedan planted snuggly between two Hummers. He caught up to her and leaned over her shoulder as she reached down to unlock the door. “Not going to say hello?”
“I thought we weren’t supposed to know each other,” Erica said with a smirk as she turned around to face him.
“That’s why I’m doing this out here and not in there,” he pointed out, and she smiled. It was softer, less of a smirk to it. “So how you doin?” he asked, and she shrugged.
“I’m alright. How bout you?”
“Pretty good,” he sighed, “How long you back in town for?”
“A few more weeks, actually,” Erica replied, “They’ve got me covering hurricane season.”
He smirked, “They figure since you’re a native, it won’t sweep you out to sea?”
“Something like that,” she laughed, playing with the keys in her hand.
“So since you’re going to be in town a while,” he began, starting to do the same with his own keys, “Maybe you want to have dinner?”
She licked her lips slightly. She really shouldn’t. She really, really shouldn’t, but the fact of the matter was she wanted to. She knew that her having dinner with him, was going to be slightly more than dinner. Just slightly. But she knew she was only going to wind up leaving again, and yanking Eric Delko around was not what she wanted to do, not after everything he had been through. Despite his player reputation, she knew there was an actual person under there. He just hadn’t shown his face much as of late.
“It’s just dinner, Erica,” he replied with a smile, and Erica gave him a look.
“Just dinner?”
“I can be good,” he stated defensively, “And if I remember correctly, you were the one who invited me in last time.”
“But you were the one who asked to kiss me,” she replied.
“You said yes.”
“You still started it,” she said obstinately.
“Dinner, Erica,” he sighed, bringing them back to the question at hand, “Just a nice platonic dinner between two friends.”
“I make ‘friends’ status?” she arched an eyebrow, intrigued. In fact, this intrigued her more than the fact that Ryan had mentioned that he still followed her work.
“I can stand here without killing you, can’t I?” he replied. He knew things weren’t going to be the way they were, but he was willing it have whatever was in the middle of the two extremes, rather than just one of them.
She rolled her eyes, before conceding, “Fine. We’ll have dinner.”
“Try not to look so thrilled,” he replied sarcastically, and she smiled.
“The number’s the same,” she sighed, starting to get into her car, “Call me and let me know.” He watched her as she drove away, and a smile crossed his face.
“I’ll do that.”
