Dean/Calleigh - Calling in a Favor

Fandom: Supernatural/CSI: Miami
Title: Calling in a Favor
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iluvroadrunner6
Rating: FRT
Characters: Dean Winchester/Calleigh Duquesne, John Winchester, with a few OCs, and mentions of Ellen Harvelle.
[livejournal.com profile] 7_crossovers Prompt: 1. Twilight
Content Warning: Spoilers for characters in season 2 of Supernatural, but that's all.
Summary: Calleigh gets a call from an old friend asking for a favor.
Author's Note: Set pre-series for both shows. Calleigh's still a uniform. I'm guestimating that right now, she's probably about thirty one, thirty two, so when she's back in New Orleans, I'm thinking she's about twenty four, twenty five, and Dean's about twenty. I think.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of Supernatural or CSI: Miami. They're owned by CBS and the CW. However, all original characters are mine, so please do not borrow them without my permission.

“Calleigh Duquesne,” Calleigh said as she answered the phone, not looking up from the paperwork in front of her. She was not in the best mood right now, considering she was still a bit sore from the last hunt she had to pull, but she tried to answer the phone as brightly as possible.

“Calleigh, it’s Ellen,” the scratchy voice came from the other end of the line, and she smiled.

“Ellen, what can I do for you?”

“I need a favor.”

“What kind of favor?” Calleigh frowned, “An I-need-to-get-rid-of-something favor or an I-need-to-get-someone-out-of-jail favor?”

“The latter,” Ellen said with a smirk, “You know a guy named John Winchester?”

“Heard of him, never actually met him,” Calleigh replied.

“Well, here’s your chance. He and his son, Dean, are sitting in holding at your precinct, and are looking for a nice way out.”

“How’d he get in?”

“Something about lying to the authorities and impeding an investigation. He says the cops don’t really have anything on ‘em, but they want them out of the way.”

“He tell you what officer locked them up?”

“Officer Asshole,” Ellen replied.

“I like him already,” Calleigh laughed.

“Sorry he wasn’t more helpful.”

“That’s alright, I’ll figure it out,” Calleigh sighed, “I’ll have him call you when he’s out.”

“Thanks, Call. I owe you one.”

“Not a problem,” she replied as she hung up. She then took a deep breath before picking up the phone again, and dialing Central Booking, “Larry? It’s Calleigh Duquesne. I was wondering if anyone was brought in for impeding an investigation—”

Dean could see the old guard at the front of the holding area start to nod off at his desk, and was very tempted to, once he was asleep, reach forward and try and pick the lock on the door of the cell so they could get out of here. It was bad enough when his dad got arrested and he had to run around whatever city they happened to be in, looking for a way out, but when they were both in jail? Made things about twenty times worse because he couldn’t do anything. He leaned his forehead against the bars of the cell, and then gave his father an annoyed look. “I thought you were calling someone to get help?”

“I did,” John replied, giving his son a look, “I don’t know what’s taking them so damn long. They said that there was a friend inside the department.”

They heard a click of heels from somewhere in the entryway, and Dean watched as the guard gave whoever it was a smile. “Hey there, Miss Calleigh.”

A bright voice joined them, but he couldn’t quite see her face, “Hey, Larry. They still in there?”

“Yep, yep,” he nodded, “Now if they get fresh with you, you let me know. I’ll come down and put them in their place.”

“You’ll be the first one I call.” After that, a petite blond woman in uniform came around the corner with a smile on her face, “John and Dean Winchester?”

The two men looked confused for a minute before responding, “Officer, our names are Ron and Mark Livingston,” John replied, “You got the wrong guys.”

“Those are the names you gave the officers who arrested you,” she replied, “But I have a friend who knows better.”

You’re their friend in the department?” John frowned in disbelief.

“Calleigh Duquesne,” she replied, “Nice to meet you.”

Dean’s eyes widened slightly, “I’ve heard of you. Bobby said you know voodoo better than some of the voodoo priests themselves.”

“Bobby, who? Bobby Singer?” she asked.

“Yeah,” he nodded.

“Yeah, I know Bobby,” her smile widened, “I should call him, I haven’t heard from him in a while.”

“He also said that you won’t hesitate to shoot one of us for trying to be a smartass. And you won’t miss.”

“That’s true too,” she grinned, “Bobby knows me pretty well.”

“Can we do this after you get us out?” John asked, giving the two of them a look.

“Well, first of all, I want to know what you hunting?” Calleigh asked. Dean started to open his mouth but John gave him a look, and he stopped.

“You want to help?” John asked, and Calleigh nodded.

“Least I could do if it gets you out of my hair faster.”

“Look, Calleigh, I understand you feel like we owe you—”

Calleigh rolled her eyes. She hated dealing with hunters and their egos. If he was going to give her some speech about how they really didn’t need the help of a part-time hunter, she wasn’t likely to be so nice about getting him out.

“Look, I don’t think you understand something,” Calleigh sighed, giving him a look, “You got arrested, during a hunt, on my turf. I’m the one holding the keys to get you out, and I’m probably the better shot, if you want to waste time and have me prove it. My partner and I have been hunting in this town longer than you have, so I think I have the right to know who or what you’re hunting, and get in on the deal. Don’t make turn this into a pissing war, because I will, and you’ll be sitting here for a lot longer.”

Dean gave his father a look, and then smirked as he gave in. “There’s this spirit over in the Central Business District—”

Calleigh wrung out her hair lightly, before letting it fall back down her back. They had managed to find the cursed object the spirit was attached to and destroy it, but on his way out he managed to blow both Dean and Calleigh into the bayou behind them. It didn’t help matters that it was pitch black, but John and Calleigh’s partner, Jason Cameron, got a hold of some spotlights and fished them out before the gators could get them. Now they were sitting on the boat with blankets around their shoulders.

“Well, it was nice working with you two,” Calleigh replied once they got back to dry land, “You’re free to go.”

“Thank you,” John replied, “If we ever happen to run into each other again, I’ll buy you a beer.”

“I have a feeling I’m more likely to be doing the buying, but I’ll hold you to that,” Calleigh replied with a smile, before turning to Jason, “Ready to get out of here?”

“Yes ma’am,” he nodded before giving the Winchesters a final wave and they headed back to their cruiser. John and Dean headed back to the Impala, and gave his dad a grin.

“She’s something else.”

“Yeah, she is,” John grinned, “And for someone who’s not hunting full time, she’s a pretty decent hunter.” Dean nodded in agreement, but he saw the look that crossed his father face, and his grin faded.

We could have handled the job on our own,” John said, and Dean rolled his eyes.

“One, we’re not quite out of range yet,” Dean replied, watching as the cruiser pulled away, “And two, she did get us out of jail.”

“Yeah, but we didn’t have to have them tag along.”

Dean watched as the taillights faded in the side view mirrors, and then turned back to his father, “Well—I liked her.”

“I liked her too,” John nodded, “Still think we could have done this on our own.”
