Danny/Maka - Ya Got Something to Say...

heeheehee...this was fun.

Fandom: CSI:NY
Title: Ya Got Something to Say...
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iluvroadrunner6
Rating: FRT
Pairing: Danny Messer/Kaile Maka
[livejournal.com profile] 25_foods Prompt: 024. Writer's Choice - Hamburger
Content Warning: N/A
Summary: Danny and Flack "discuss" his relationship with Maka.
Author's Note: Also used the prompt Danny Messer / Don Flack, Jr. / friends with benefits. This is basically Danny-Flack banter. Which was so much fun to write. I should do it more often.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of CSI:NY. They're owned by CBS.

Danny started to bite into his hamburger as he sat across from Flack, but froze when he found the man studying him. He froze and returned the man’s stare for a second before speaking, “Can I help you, Flack?”

“Nothing,” Flack shook his head, “It’s nothing. Forget it.” He then turned to his own food, and Danny just continued to stare at him for a second, knowing the man well enough to know that it wasn’t nothing. Flack looked up at him from his food and he frowned. “What?”

“If you gotta say something, just say it,” Danny replied.

“I don’t gotta say anything.”

“You don’t?”

“No, I don’t.”

“Then what’s with the staring.”

“I was lost in a thought.”

“Lost in a thought?” Danny smirked.

“What, I’m not allowed to think, now? I’m not allowed to have thoughts? You know, just because I don’t know that science mumbo jumbo you guys spew half the time, doesn’t mean I don’t have thoughts every once in a while.”

“I’m sorry if I offended you, Flack,” Danny said slowly.

“You should be.”

“I am aware of the fact that you have thoughts. It must have been a pretty complex thought, because it’s not to often that you get lost in them.”

“What are you implying, Messer?” Flack asked, blue eyes glaring at him from over the top of his burger.

“Nothing at all,” Danny said with a smirk, and Flack placed his food down before staring at the other man.

“If you must know, I was wondering if there was anything going on between you and Maka that I may need to know about.”

“Why would you need to know about it?”

“Because if you screw it up, and she wants to kick your ass, I won’t have to worry about which side to choose.”

“Oh really?” Danny frowned, “Why are you automatically assuming that I would screw it up?”

“Danny, this is you we are talking about.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“You know damn well what it means.”

Danny knew that Flack had a point, he just didn’t want to acknowledge it just yet. Flack didn’t wait for a response, and just continued with what he had been saying.

“Besides, it’s always the guy’s fault.”

“You do have a point there,” Danny admitted, “Good for you that you have nothing to worry about then. Maka and I are just friends.”

“Just friends?”

“Yeah, just friends,” Danny replied, and Flack gave him a skeptical look. “What?” Danny asked.

“Friends with benefits do not count as just friends, Danny.”

“Good thing we’re not friends with benefits,” Danny sighed, “And what the hell is friends with benefits anyway?”

“It’s when two people—”

“I know what it means, Flack,” Danny rolled his eyes before continuing, “I mean that it’s not really a good kind of relationship, you know. Someone always winds up getting hurt.”

Flack nodded briefly, “You better be careful.”

“Why? Why do I need to be careful?”

“People hear you talking like that, it’s going to shoot your reputation to hell.”

Danny laughed, “Good to know I’ve got you looking out for me.”

“Gotta watch my friend’s back,” Flack replied, before picking up his burger, “So there’s seriously nothing going on between you and Maka.”

“Seriously,” Danny nodded, “We’re just friends.”

Flack nodded, and Danny could already see the wheels in his friend’s head turning. He shook his head, and Flack gave him a look, “What?”

“Nothing. It’s nothing. Forget it.”

“If you gotta say something, Messer, just say it.”
