Flack was standing over the charred remains of the body, shaking his head slowly, before turning back to the witnesses. He had arrived on the scene in time for the chatter in the room to start throwing around the word “flamethrower” and that alone told him it was going to be a long day.

“Alright—sir, can I have your name?”

“Walter Henderson.” The man was clearly shaking, and Flack tried his best to be as sympathetic as possible.

“Did you know the victim?”

“His name was Henry Johnson. We—we worked together at Smith, Smith and Holmes.”

“The law firm?”

The man nodded. “We were associates there.”

Flack could think of several reasons why someone would want to set a lawyer on fire, but he was going to keep those to himself for the moment. He made a note of that down in his memo book, before looking up at Henry again.

“Can you tell me what happened?”

“We meeting for lunch at the café up the street. I had to finish up a couple more things before I left, so he left before I did. When I got there, he and this guy were having a pretty heated discussion, and the guy started yelling at him. Next thing I know he’s pulling out this—this flamethrower, and he’s going off like a crazy person.”

“Did you recognize the man?”

“No—no, I don’t think so.”

“Did you get a good look at him?”

“Yeah—he was tall, about six-one. Blond hair, medium build.”

“Think you could help out a sketch artist?” The man nodded and Flack noted that before his face frowned slightly.

“Are you sure it was a flamethrower?”

“Pretty positive—I’ve never seen one before, but c’mon. What else would do that kind of damage?”

“Just checking.” Flack took down the man’s contact information, and told him to sit tight while the got a sketch artist for him to work with. He then headed back over to the body, looking it over again with a confused look, as the CSU vehicle arrived on the scene.

“Flamethrower. What are people drinking these days?”

This one made me laugh, especially that last line. Good job.

That was good. I could just see Flack go to a scene where they used a flamethrower and be like "are you kidding me."

Hahahahaha.

My favorite part:

Flack could think of several reasons why someone would want to set a lawyer on fire, but he was going to keep those to himself for the moment.

Hee! I had fun writing this.

The post on his journal is open for RP if any of your L&O characters want to drop by.
