BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Aiden finally gave up on banging on the door and started pulling on the handles, trying to see if she could break the lock. She then leaned back, putting her weight into door. She yanked on the handles a few times and Maka shook her head. “Don’t hurt yourself, alright? Not gonna do us much good if we can’t get out.”
Aiden pulled a few more times before slamming her fist into the door, “Damnit.”
“How did this happen?” Maka groaned, burying her face in her hands.
“I’m gonna kill whoever didn’t get that door fixed,” Aiden muttered, “Love the way the city takes care of the morgue.”
“Don’t blame the city,” Maka sighed, “Hammerback probably didn’t report it.”
“He never reports anything, does he?”
“Well—we’ll get out of here eventually,” Maka replied, “Eventually someone’s going to need something.”
“Danny must never find out about this,” Aiden sighed, starting to pace slightly, “Because we will never hear the end of it.”
“I won’t say anything if you don’t.”
“Then let’s hope that the person who finds us, isn’t someone who’s going to run his mouth,” Aiden sighed, running a hand through her hair, “Mac’s gonna kill me when I finally get back upstairs.”
“For getting locked in a closet?”
“For getting locked in a closet, in the morgue, without my phone,” Aiden replied, before her eyes widened and she turned back for face Maka, “Did you—?”
Maka’s hands fumbled around in her pockets before pulling out her phone, before sighing heavily, “Battery’s dead. I forgot to charge it last night.”
“Damnit,” Aiden growled, slumping down against the shelves, “This sucks.”
“Yeah,” Maka nodded, sliding down next to her, “It does.”

Two hours later…
“What the hell is taking so long?” Maka whined, looking around at the different boxes, “This looks like a closet they’d use all the time.”
“How did we get locked down here in the first place?” Aiden groaned, “I don’t even remember.”
“You made a wrong turn.”
“I made a wrong turn?” Aiden said, giving her a look.
“Do I look like I know my way around here?” Maka replied, returning the look, “I’m usually running down things, not making trips to see the body.”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean I—” Aiden started, then took a deep breath, shaking her head, “Never mind. Fighting isn’t going to get us anywhere.”
“Might help them hear us though,” Maka sighed, before she heard a slight gurgle, and slid an arm across her stomach, “Damnit, I’m starving.”
“Me too,” Aiden sighed, before grinning slightly, “I might be able to fix that.”
“Really?” Maka smirked, before watching as the other woman stood on her tiptoes and produced a box of fruit roll-ups from behind one of the other boxes. She placed the box down between them and pulled one out for herself.
“Bon appetit,” Aiden replied, and Maka picked one up and studied it, disappointed.
“How’d you know these were there?”
“I caught one of the interns chowing down on them once,” she said with a smirk as she ripped the package open, “He gave me one as a bribe to keep ‘em a secret and not to eat them, but desperate times call for desperate measures.”
“I’m supposed to having a burger right now,” Maka sighed, pursing her lips slightly as she opened the package, “And relishing the look on Danny’s face as I wipe the floor with him at pool.”
“I’m supposed to be having steak,” Aiden replied, “And getting laid.”
Maka laughed, “Well—guess our plans for the evening have changed.”
“Supposed to be hanging out with Danny, huh?” Aiden smirked, “You two been—ya know—?”
“You’re kidding me right?” Maka replied, “This is Messer we’re talking about. He’s got the maturity of a two year-old.”
“Yeah—but he’s got a hot body to go with that two year-old mentality,” Aiden said with a smirk, “I wouldn’t blame you if—ya know—were using him to scratch the itch.”
“He wishes,” Maka shook her head, “Danny and I are just friends—if I can even consider us that.”
“He’s got a thing for you, ya know?” Aiden sighed, peeling out of the shapes out of the candy.
Maka raised an eyebrow, “Same can be said for you.”
“Don’t remind me,” Aiden rolled her eyes, “I’m trying to break him of that one.”
“I think he has a thing for every woman he works with.”
“So either he’s an equal opportunity slut, or he has a thing for women with handcuffs,” Aiden said, before laughing, “Gotta love the men we work with.”
“You’re tellin’ me,” Maka shook her head, “But then again we’re the ones getting locked in closets.”
Aiden paused for a minute, before responding, “You do have a point there.”

An hour later…
Hawkes frowned when he found the closet door locked, before reaching into his pocket for his keys. This door wasn’t the one they left locked—someone must have tripped it on their way out. He found his keys and cracked the door open, frowning when the light from the hallway fell on the two female detectives, an empty box sitting on the floor between them, and what looked like candy wrappers scattered on the floor around them.
“Aiden? Maka?”
Both women looked up at the sound of their names, and their faces lit up when they saw the man in the doorway. Next thing he knows, he’s being tackled by both of them, and the combined force of the two of them sent the whole group tumbling to the floor of the hallway. Just as this was happening, Danny and Flack appeared from around the corner, and both men shook their heads before Danny turned to Flack.
“Some guys have all the luck.”
