“We have to go,” she murmured as Danny started to kiss her again. He had sidetracked her about an hour ago when he had come home and she was getting ready to go out with him, and she knew they both needed to get the asses into gear if they were going to hold up their dinner date with friends.
“We have time,” he replied, moving to her neck as her hands started to slide up her sides.
“We had time when we started,” she smirked, “Not so sure we have time now.”
“We have time,” he repeated, hand sliding over her hip and she twisted away from him slightly, reaching for the clock on the side of her bed. She saw the red numbers on the digital readout, and her eyes went wide. “Shit!”
“What?” Danny frowned as she shoved him off her and climbed out of bed. He watched her as she started to get dressed, and his eyes wandered over to the clock on her bed, “Is there a problem?”
“We are so late,” Maka sighed as she pulled her shoes on and ran a quick brush through her hair. Danny rolled his eyes before sliding his legs over the edge of the bed and starting to get dressed again.
“Only ten minutes,” Danny said, glancing at the clock next to the bed as he buttoned his shirt.
“By the time we get there, it’ll be a bit more than ten minutes,” Maka said, flashing him a look. She reached for her perfume, “Damnit, I need a shower.”
“You don’t need a shower,” he said, wrapping his arms around her waist, “You’re fine. It’s just Flack and Angell. I don’t even understand why we’re having dinner with them anyway.”
“Because we’re their friends.”
“So?”
“And we made plans.”
“I think they’ll understand if we cancel.”
“But we’re not going to cancel.”
“But if we did—”
“We don’t break plans with friends.”
“We don’t?”
“No. And you ever thing I might just want to go out.”
“Maybe.”
“We never go out anymore,” she replied, pulling away from him and giving him a look, “I want to go out. Besides—we have to tell them the good news.”
“Could always tell them at work,” he said, leaning in to give her a quick kiss again before she pulled back.
“Well, I want to tell them tonight,” she said, before pulling away from him and walking out the door of the bedroom.
“Of course you do,” Danny replied, rubbing his eyes.
“You coming or what?”
“Yeah, yeah,” he shook his head, “I’ll be right there.”

“Pass the soy sauce,” Flack said, looking up from the plate that had been set down in front of them.
“I still can’t believe you’re eating without them,” Angell said, giving him a look.
“Danny and Maka are now—” He placed his fork down and checked his watch. “—a half hour late, probably because they were doing something a bit more fun than what we’re doing right now.”
Angell gave him a look, before reaching over and smacking him lightly in a shoulder. “You know, it’s nice to get out once in a while, not stay in all the time.”
“Really?”
“Yes,” she sighed, “Nice to know you still want to show me off enough to buy me dinner.”
“I never stopped wanting to show you off,” he said with a smirk, “But I want to have you to myself a bit more than that.”
Angell rolled her eyes before taking another sip of the drink in front of her, scanning the entrance of the building again. Flack watched her for a minute, and she finally turned to him a questioning look on her face, “What?”
“Soy sauce?”
She narrowed her eyes slightly before shaking her head, “Eat it without it if you’re so starving.”
Flack blinked at her for a minute before respond, “You are an evil, evil woman, you know that?”
“You weren’t complaining last night,” she smirked as she waved Maka and Danny over when they came in the door.
“Yeah, well—that kind of evil is fun,” he grinned. She laughed, before swatting his hand away as he reached for the bottle himself.
“You ordered without us?” Danny said, looking a little hurt as he sat down at the table, “What the hell?”
“He ordered without you,” Angell clarified as Flack moved his arm from in front of her, so that it was resting on the back of her chair, “I yelled at him for it.”
“Which didn’t seem to do you much good,” Maka said, giving Flack a look.
“Hey, you two were a half hour late. What did you want us to do, starve to death?” Flack replied, “Besides, she still won’t let me eat it. She’s holding the soy sauce hostage.”
“There’s nothing wrong with eating it without it,” Angell pointed out, and Flack just gave her a look.
“To you maybe.”
“Will you two stop it?” Danny said, rolling his eyes, “It’s not cute.”
“Hey—you two were ten times worse,” Flack said, pointing his fork in the direction of the other couple, “At least we don’t do it on the job.” He caught a look from Maka and continued, “Not saying that you do it now, but c’mon—when you two first started going at it, no room in that lab was safe.”
“Well, you better get used to it,” Maka smirked.
Flack had looked down at his food again, but his head popped up when he heard those last words. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Maka’s smirk turned into a grin, and suddenly Angell’s face lit up and shock, “Oh my God.”
Flack watched the two women, before turning to Danny. “What’d you do?”
“I asked Kaile to marry me,” Danny replied with a sheepish smile. There was shrieking and hugging from the two women at the table, and Flack sighed slightly.
“I take it this is why you were a half hour late?”
“Yeah, pretty much,” Danny nodded.
“Well,” Flack sighed, reaching forward and placing a hand on Danny’s shoulder, “I hope you know what you’re doing.”
“I have a pretty good idea,” Danny grinned. Once the two women had calmed down, the waiter returned to the table, and took their orders. Once the waiter was gone, Angell gave her boyfriend a look, and Flack sighed again.
“I’m screwed now, aren’t I?”
“I wouldn’t put it quite like that,” she smirked.
“Well, however you put it, can you at least have the decency of giving me the soy sauce before I die?”
She sighed, before picking up the bottle and handing it to him, “You have a one track mind, you know that?”
“Believe me, Jen,” he said, taking the bottle from her and starting to pour it on his food, “So do you.”
