“Hey, Maka,” Danny sighed, sliding into the seat next to her.

“Hey, Messer,” she said, flustering slightly when she saw him. It wasn’t enough that he noticed, and never was, but it was still there and enough to unnerve her. And she didn’t like it. Because she didn’t really like him. In fact, there were times when he grated her last nerve. But still, there was something about him that set her off in what she considered the wrong way, and there wasn’t anything she could do about it.

“Whatcha doin’?”

“Lunch,” she replied, holding up her thing of cottage cheese.

“Cottage cheese and pineapple chunks,” he said, reading the container, “That is not a lunch.”

“It’s not?” she smirked, giving him a look, “How do you know what lunch is? You get junk out of the vending machine every day.”

“I do not,” he said, giving her a grin.

“Oh really?”

“Most of the time we get take-out.”

“Take-out from where?” she pressed.

“The local pizza place,” he sighed slowly, “Occasionally some burger joint.”

“At least I’m eating healthy.”

“Eating healthy is overrated.”

“And when you have a heart attack trying to run down a perp, don’t come crying to me.”

“It’s sweet that you care about my arteries, Maka,” he smirked, getting up to leave, “But I think I’m doing alright on my own.”

“Uh-huh.”

He turned back to her at that point, crossing his arms in front of his chest. “I want you to eat fast food.”

“I’m sorry?” she said with a smirk.

“I want you and me to eat fast food together,” he said.

“And why should I do that?”

“Because you need more of a variety in your diet.”

Maka leaned back and laughed, shaking her head. “I don’t need that kind of variety.”

“One chili dog, Maka,” he said, giving her a look, “Its not going to give you a heart attack.”

She returned the look, before shaking her head, “Fine. One chili dog.”

“Alright,” he said with a grin, “Lose the cottage cheese and let’s hit the hot dog vendor.”

She placed her lunch back in the fridge, and gave him a look, “You’re buying.”

“Never said I wasn’t.”

“Just making sure I’m clear,” Maka replied, before walking out the door ahead of him, “Are you coming or not?”

Danny smirked slightly, before shaking his head, “Yeah, yeah—I’m coming.”

Well, I'm glad someone cares about poor Danny's arteries.

But you know, if you really wanted to give Danny a heart attack you should give him a Hot Pocket.

That's true. I think.

I'm glad you liked it.
