Summary: Brian makes a small detour on his way out of the labs.

“So, will I see you in court?” Mac asked as he shook Peluso’s hand as they walked out of the older man’s office.
“Hopefully not,” Peluso replied, “The guy looked ready to plea out, so this may not go to court at all.” Mac looked apprehensive, and Peluso gave him an easy smile, “He’ll get a decent amount of time, don’t worry. I’m not a newbie at this, Detective.”
“You’re right,” Mac shook his head, before heading back into his office, “Call me if a deal is reached?”
“You’ll be right after my boss.”
“Thank you.”
Brian headed back into the lab, and instead of turning and heading for the elevator, he went the opposite way and headed deeper into the labs. He searched the glass walls, looking the new CSI. He had to say, Lindsay had him interested. He never thought a girl from Montana would captivate him the way she did, but he wasn’t going to just let this opportunity pass him by. He spotted her in one of the labs, and made his way towards where she was working.
“Hey, Peluso!” He turned at the sound of his name, and saw Stella coming to him. He gave her a smile as she approached.
“Detective Bonasera,” he sighed, “What can I do for you?”
“Am I keeping you from something, Counselor?” she said with a smirk.
“Nothing that can’t wait,” he replied, shaking his head, “Need a warrant?”
“Actually, I was just wondering if I have enough probable cause for one,” she replied.
“And if you do, do you need a warrant?” he continued with a smirk.

Lindsay looked up and spotted Brian standing outside the lab talking to Stella. She was a bit surprised at first, but then pushed the hopeful idea that he was here to see her. They had happened to have a drink together once, so she should know better than to think that he was coming all the way down here, just to see her again. But she could still feel the butterflies fluttering in the pit of her stomach, hoping that he might be here to see her.
She decided to focus on her work again, and by the time she heard the sound of the door, she thought it was Hawkes coming back into the room. “Did you get something?”
“Not exactly, but I don’t think I’m who you’re expecting.”
She looked up and Peluso was standing next to her. “Brian,” she said with a smile, “What can I do for you?”
“I just had a quick question for you before I go back to the DA’s office.”
“Shoot,” she said.
“I was wondering if you were free tonight?”
“Free?” she frowned, not sure what he meant by the question.
“If you were free to maybe—have dinner—with me?”
“Oh,” she blinked, blushing slightly, “I don’t have any plans—provided Mac lets me go home soon.”
“Well—if that happens to pull through—would you like to have dinner?”
“Dinner?” she asked.
“Well, it could be just an appetizer,” he began, starting to get nervous, “Just a small one—doesn’t even have to be food, really, maybe just a drink so we can talk.”
Lindsay smiled slightly, “I meant as in a date?”
“Oh,” he said bashfully, before nodding, “Yeah—I was thinking like a date.”
“I’d love to,” she nodded, her smile widening.
“Great,” he nodded, “Call me when you get off work?”
“I will,” she nodded, “Or if I’m not.”
“OK. So I’ll see you later,” he nodded.
“Yeah, later,” she grinned, before watching him as he walked out the door.
