Flack and Jess were standing over by the bar, and she turned to him, a confused look on her face. “How did you know that?”

“How’d I know what?” he asked, taking another sip of his drink.

“About Tony and Maria,” she continued.

He shrugged, “Everyone knows that it was based off of Romeo and Juliet.”

“Yeah—” she began, “But—you recognized it from their clothes. I couldn’t even tell who they were.”

Flack hesitated for a minute, “Angell told me what her costumes were going to be.”

“Did she now?” Jess said, a smirk resting on her face.

“I don’t like the look that you’re giving me, Rossi.”

“I just find it hard to believe that she would share that information with you, when she apparently didn’t know who we were going to be.”

“Angell’s a more generous person than I am,” he said, downing the rest of his drink.

“You’ve seen it, haven’t you?” Jess said, giving him a hard look.

“Seen what?” he asked.

West Side Story,” she replied.

“Why would I watch West Side Story?” he scoffed, “I hate musicals.”

“You would if you knew there was something in it for you,” she pressed, “C’mon Flack. Which ex-girlfriend made you sit through the movie?”

“It wasn’t an ex-girlfriend,” he replied, shaking his head, “It was my freshman English teacher. We read Romeo and Juliet, and she had us watch that and write a whole comparison on it.”

“And why would you hide that?” Jess shrugged, “That’s not that bad.”

“That’s not why I remembered the movie,” he said, running a hand over his face.

“Hah!” she laughed, “I knew there was an ex involved.”

“How do you know it’s an ex?” he replied, and she was about to respond, when she noticed his posture stiffen and he straightened where he was standing. She turned to face him, and bit her lip to keep herself from laughing when she saw her boss.

He was wearing a brown leather jacket, with a fedora, boots, and the typical Indiana Jones look. He was staring down Flack, and they only broke the stare when Stella came up behind them, wearing the fifties’ style wide legged pants, and a flowing blouse. Steele gave her a smile, and then turned back to the group. “Jess,” he began, nodding in the other woman’s direction. There was a long pause as he studied Flack for a minute, “—Flack.”

“Steele,” he replied, the same tone of voice.

“Well—” Stella said, directing it more to Jess than anyone else there, “At least they didn’t pick the same Harrison Ford character to be.”

“Thank God for that,” Jess said, laughing slightly, “We might have had a showdown of the bullwhips in the ballroom.”

Steele’s eyes didn’t leave Flack’s, “Should have known you’d pick Han Solo.”

“Why’d you say that?” Flack asked, giving him a look.

“Well—I just don’t think you have the right look for Indy, that’s all,” he said, a smirk starting to crawl up his face, “But I have to say—if I was playing Han? I would have gotten my date to wear the gold bikini.”

Both women turned on him and smacked him in the chest, and he laughed, and Flack just shook his head. Then, there was a hand on Stella’s shoulder, and they both turned to see Mac standing there.

“Flack, Stella,” he sighed, “Counselors.”

“Detective Taylor,” Jim replied, extending him hand to him, which the other man shook. Stella then took in the suit Mac was wearing, and frowned slightly, “Who are you tonight?”

“Billy Flinn from Chicago,” Mac grumbled slightly, “I made the mistake of letting Alex pick the costumes.”

“Cabot came as Roxie?” Jess asked and Mac nodded.

“Luckily for me, she said that the only condition of ‘date’ that we were going to adhere to is that our costumes match,” Mac replied, “Have you seen Peyton at all?”

“I think I saw her with Doctor Huang,” Jess replied, jerking her thumb over to the dance floor.

“Thank you,” he nodded, before heading off in that direction.

Jim and Flack turned back to each other, and Jess shook her head, “Would you two stop it with the pissing contests already? It’s getting old.”

“I agree,” Stella sighed, “Not very attractive.”

“You know what we should have done, Stell?” Jess smirked, “We should have gone together, and left them to deal with each other.”

Stella grinned, “That would have been a great idea.” She then took the other woman by the hand, “You know—we should start planning for next year.”

“We should,” Jess nodded, letting Stella lead the way from the two men. Flack and Steele watched them go for a minute, before Steele turned back to him.

“I have a feeling we should be groveling.”

“So do I,” Flack replied, before they both started to follow the two women.

Oh man! That was great XD! I want to know why he remembered the movie.

maybe i'll write her telling him that some other time.

i'm glad you liked it.

Haha. For some reason, the idea of Flack and Steele having a "whip it out and measure" moment fills me with glee. I don't think I'd be able to pick a favorite between the two of them. Flack/Steele = OTP?

Oh! I was going to tell you this earlier, but I saw Julianne Nicholson [Christina] in the movie Little Black Book. And all I could think of was, "omg, it's Christina! I wonder if Emily's seen this? I'll leave her a comment after the movie's over..."

heeheehee...maybe. they would be a very angsty OTP, always fighting all the time. but then again--that would be hot.

i didn't know that. was the movie actually good?

[identity profile] myherodrowning.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I could just imagine, one minute they're fighting and the next they're kissing and part of them doesn't even know why.

I liked it. Julianne played a chef named Joyce. She was still in love with the boyfriend of the main character. I loved her!

Plot of movie goes thus: Stacy [Brittany Murphy] snoops through her boyfriend's palm pilot and reveals his former girlfriends, which causes her to question why they're still listed in his little black book.

yeah--i'd heard of it, but i heard pretty mixed reviews. i'll have to check it out sometime. just for julianne.
