Part 1 | Part 2

“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Danny sighed, staring at himself in the mirror.

“Oh, come on,” Christina replied, her head appearing over his shoulder, “You look cute!”

“I look like freakin’ Peter Pan,” he replied, and she rolled her eyes before turning him around to face her.

“I did tell you not to go with the green one,” she sighed, reaching up to adjust the way the costume was sitting on his shoulders, “But still—I think you make an acceptable pirate all the same.”

“Who’s bright idea was it to make it a costume party this year? And decide that a detective must go with an attorney?”

“Well, the detective-attorney bit was the Police Commissioner and the DA’s way of trying to get the two departments to like each other more. As for the costume end—I have no idea,” she replied before moving him out of the way so she could get her turn at the mirror, “But I think once everyone gets past the first few drinks of the evening, no one is going to care.”

“Very good point,” he replied, and watched her as she fixed her make-up before straightening and standing next to him.

“So whadaya think?” she asked, wrapping her arm around his waist, “Think we make an acceptable pirate couple?”

He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and shrugged slightly, “Well—together I guess we don’t look half bad.”

“Nope,” she grinned.

“That means you’re stuck with me the entire night,” he smirked and she laughed.

“Good thing we can tolerate each other,” she sighed, “Other people weren’t so lucky.”

“Whoever’s bright idea it was to stick Cabot and Mac together seriously has another thing coming.”

“I thought she might go with one of her old detective friends from SVU, but I guess they already had dates,” Christina shrugged, before turning and walking out of the bathroom. “So are we ready to do this thing or what?”

“Let’s do it,” Danny nodded with a grin, and Christina returned the smile before leading him out of the apartment.

The music was so loud Lindsay could barely hear anyone talking around her, and the long thick black wig wasn’t helping matters any. She was asking people to repeat things more and more frequently, and she was getting to the point where it was coming down to one of two things—get paper to write on, or lose the wig.

She wasn’t quite ready to lose the wig yet—she and Brian looked great in the costumes, but she wasn’t really sure she wanted looking good to be at the cost of her hearing. But then again, most people were already starting to sedate themselves with alcohol, so she didn’t know how much more she was going to have to hear anyway. She made her way over to the punch bowl, and looked up with a smirk when she encountered a pair of pirates.

“Avast me hearties yo ho?” she shouted with a grin, and Danny and Christina turned to face her in surprise. Danny peered at her for a second, and then said something she couldn’t hear. She frowned for a minute before peeling her hair away from her ear, “What?”

“That you, Montana?” Danny repeated, and she shook her head.

“Not Montana,” she grinned, “Morticia.”

“Morticia Addams?” Christina nodded, “Nice.”

“Thanks,” she grinned.

“Where’s your other half?” Christina asked, and Lindsay turned before shrugging her shoulders.

“Haven’t the slightest idea. He went to talk to Desmond I think.”

“I see him,” Danny said, an mischievous grin on his face. Both women followed his eyes, and a matching smirk crossed Christina’s face.

“I think we know who picked the costumes for Potter and Angell,” she sighed, and Lindsay grinned.

“Tony and Maria,” she sighed, “That’s kinda cute.”

“Who and who?” Danny asked, and Christina gave him a look.

“That’s it,” she sighed, “We’re renting West Side Story.”

“Is that the one with the gangs and the dancing?” he asked, and she nodded.

“Now, why the hell would I want to watch that?” he began, and Lindsay shook her head, leaving the two of them to bicker as she walked over to Brian. She slipped an arm around his waist and he turned in surprise.

Carina mia,” he said with a smile, before gesturing to Nick and Angell, “Look who I found.”

“I see that,” she grinned, “You haven’t been teasing them too much, have you?”

“Teasing? Me?” he replied with a grin, “No more than usual.”

Lindsay shook her head, “I think you two look great.”

“So do you,” Angell nodded, “I didn’t think you were the Addam’s Family type, Lindsay?”

“Are you kidding?” Lindsay grinned, “That’s classic television.”

Angell laughed, “Yeah, I guess so.”

“You should be aware that your costume choice has sentenced Danny to a might of movie musicals,” Lindsay continued, and Angell grinned.

“Very good. My work here is done.” She turned away from them, and towards the door of the hall.

Lindsay grinned and watched as Angell’s eyes went wide. She followed the woman’s gaze, and spotted Flack and Jess as they came in. Her mouth dropped slightly, before she shook her head, “I should have pegged Flack as a Star Wars fan.”

“Geek,” Angell teased loudly as he got closer, and at that, he turned and gave her a look.

“Well, at least I’m not dressed like two dead people.”

“One dead person,” Angell corrected, “Maria didn’t die in the play, only Tony did.”

Nick’s head snapped up at that, “I’m dead. You failed to mention that.”

“It’s alright,” she sighed, patting him on the shoulder, “You died in the name of love.”

Nick rolled his eyes, “That really makes me feel better.”

“Well,” Jess sighed, “It is very obvious that we are too sober to be attending this event.” She looked around at the group before gesturing toward the bar, “Who wants a shot?”

“Me!” the group sounded as they followed her.
