OC Backstory - Darren Mullvaney
i don't know what i'm doing with this guy yet. i know he's going to be hooking up with lindsay, and i know the series he's part of, but i don't know if i'm going to be claiming him somewhere, or what. but he wanted me to do something with him, and he's pretty (i always appease the pretty), so i figured if i do a little bio, he'll be happy for a little bit until i figure out what i'm doing.

Actual Person: Jensen Ackles, Actor
Age: 30
Parents: Kyle and Andrea Mullvaney
Siblings: Damian, Martina, Lauren, Ethan, and Robin Mullvaney
Children: Jamie, Matt, Nicky, and Danielle Mullvaney
Darren Mullvaney was grew up in Ithaca, New York, the oldest of six children. There's actually a fifteen year span between Darren and his twin brother Damian, and his youngest sister Robin. His father, however, was working on a detective's salary, so there wasn't always a lot of money to go around. All the children knew that the only way they were going to afford college was if they got a buttload of scholarships, therefore the drive was in all of them to get good grades, even if the desire to get into college was for different reasons. While Darren did his best, he was never as good with academics as Damian was (his mother, Andrea, used to joke that Darren got all the empathy, while Damian got all the brains), and it was looking increasingly unlikely that he was going to get the financial support he needed. Darren, however, wasn't really interested in something he needed a four year degree for. He had always wanted to be a cop, and he didn't have to go to a four year school for that. He took two years off to help his mother out, earned a two year associate's degree in criminal justice from his local community college, and then enrolled in the New York City Police Acadmey.
While he was there, he met and became quick friends with Lilly Harper. These two held their friendship together through to the end of the acadmey, and when they both started doing their beat work for the NYPD. While Lilly had more of a science drive, and was aiming for CSI, Darren was ready to just do detective work, and was actually aiming to work Vice. He knew how to make an impression, so he would show up in the aftermaths of busts to do what he could in assisting with the clean up. He had no issues with doing what needed to be done, so after an impassioned plea to the captian at the time, Don Flack, Sr., and a brief stint working the tranny area of the city, Flack put him on the fast track to detective, and he was soon handling his own squad with his partner, Theresa Cassavelli.
Cassavelli had a quick temper and was not necessarily the nicest person in the world, but when his superiors saw how Darren put up with her, they were more than willing to let them stay partners. Darren's actually the one person on the force that she doesn't mind, moreso because he'll let her vent to him, and won't yell back unless she asks him to. He claims it's growing up with a sister who had the same temper helped him to deal with it, but she doesn't really care, she just hopes it doesn't change. They became a good team when it came down to the work as well, leading their team through multiple large busts, earning them a lot of recognition throughout the department. It was during a bust gone wrong that the CSI teams needed to be called in, and that was the first time Darren met Lindsay Monroe.
Darren, usually, is a pretty laid back person. He tends to make more cracks than he should, but it's usually just to lighten the mood and make things less tense. Contrary to popular belief, while his brother would seem like the better guy, being the academic, Darren swears up and down that Damian is the evil twin. He doesn't usually trust a word that comes out of his brother's mouth, and is deathly afriad of Damian screwing up his relationships before they even get off the ground. That being said, when Darren does start to get panicky, he usually blows things out of proportion, thinks that he's screwed things up before they've even gotten off the ground, and it takes quite a bit of reassuring to get him to calm down.
He hates, loathes, and abhorrs technology. For every technological product he needs, he has the simplest and most basic for he can get that's still functioning. This is one of the points where Cassavelli and others tend to lose patience with him, because it takes him forever to do anything from typing up a document to figuring out his cell phone. Lindsay has tried to improve this, but she just seems to hit a brick wall when it comes to it. Also, both he and Damien have impaired vision, but while Damien wears his glasses to go for the more academic look, Darren prefers contacts.
He's also extremely protective of his family, especially his sisters. Between Lauren, who just gets into trouble for the fun of it, and Robin, who's still in high school, he's pretty sure he's going to have a heart attack by the time he's forty. He thanks God that Martina actually has some of what he considers to be common sense, or he would have been wasting away a long time ago, he just wishes that she would stop hitting on the captain's son. He's the typical slightly over-protective big brother in every sense of the word, and can often be seen screaming into his cell phone at one of them in the bullpen. He's also very close to his parents, especially his father, considering that he was the only child to actually join the force, or at least show interest (Robin still doesn't know what she's doing in that respect). They had always had a good relationship, and he tends to give them a little more credit than he probably should.
