Disclaimer: I own O'Riley and the drunk guy. That's it.

“You alright there, Flack?” Stella Bonasera teased, watching the man as he fidgeted with his clothes.

“Fine,” Don Flack grumbled, twisting the material around himself. Why him? Why him?

“I know what you’re thinking,” Stella grinned, adjusting her top, and checking herself in the mirror again, “And it’s because you’re the prettiest rookie on the force.”

Flack turned and looked in the mirror. He hated his job. Well, this aspect of his job anyway. He was the rookie. He couldn’t play the Stella’s pimp, or a john she picked up to make her look good, or even just sit in the van and watch as things played out.

No. He had to play the tranny.

Flack shot her a death glare, and Stella smiled. She had worries about this. Just because he was a cop legend’s son, doesn’t mean he had what it takes for in the field. Especially an assignment like this. His first bout undercover and he was stuck with her. That could not be good.

And the case was a pretty major one too. Some guy had been picking up hookers from the streets, treating them to a night of torture and then finally murder. They were going undercover to see if they can get a better idea of who this guy was. And Stella was the only woman in the precinct who was willing to dress up as a hooker. And she did need some kind of back-up.

Hence, Flack in a dress.

“Would you stop fidgeting with that dress?” Stella sighed, before walking over to him, and taking the material in her hands, and yanking it roughly against his body.

“Gee, Bonasera, didn’t know you liked me that much,” he grinned, feeling her fingers occasionally brush against his skin. He couldn’t help himself. Despite the fact that he was in a dress, and was wearing more make-up than a man should ever have to wear, and he was flirting with a woman, who was, in his opinion, the most beautiful detective he’d ever seen.

So what if she was older than him? What’s age but a number?

“Watch it, Flack, or I may not save your ass,” she turned him around in the window, “And don’t worry about it. It’s not just you. They do this to all the pretty rookies.” She tapped him on the shoulder, and then headed out of the room. Flack grumbled something about hazers and ass-kicking before stumbling his way out the door, still unable to find his footing in the five-inch heels.

***

“So you go the tranny-back-up route too, huh?” one of the other girls working their corner said to Stella as they waited for a john.

“Yeah,” Stella nodded, “It’s handy to have ‘em around, you know?”

“Just in case the wrong kinda—” the girl began, but her voice trailed off when she spotted a nice car pulling up to the curb, “—Sorry. Duty calls.”

“Tell me about it,” Stella muttered under her breath, before casting a glance over in Flack’s direction. He glanced back at her and gave a slight shake of his head, indicating that he hadn’t seen the target either. It had taken her a while that first night to look at him in his wig and make-up without wanting to burst out into peals of laughter. Now, a few weeks into the assignment, the laughter was coming less and less. To the kid’s credit, despite how uncomfortable he was before, Flack was holding his own as a tranny pretty well. And he was taking the assignment as seriously as Stella was hoping.

Flack Jr. wasn’t your typical cop spawn, who thought everything he could get his predecessors had earned for him. He was willing to work his way up from the bottom. He wanted to earn whatever he got. He just didn’t want to be a cop with a legend’s name. And Stella admired that.

“Watch out, Toots,” Stella heard her boss’s voice in her ear, “You got a guy coming your way, looking pretty wasted.”

“I can handle myself, Captain.”

“Just looking out for my favorite set of legs,” Captain Ben O’Riley’s voice was in her ear. Stella knew what O’Riley said was saying could be considered sexual harassment, but every cop working under him with boobs was his ‘favorite set of legs’ and he didn’t treat women any differently than the men really. Just flirted with them like any friendly older man.

“I know,” she replied, before spotting the man O’Riley was referring too. He had a paper bag in his hand that was obviously hiding a bottle, and he was stumbling all along the walk, looking as wasted as anyone ever was.

“Hey, pretty girl,” he shouted. He had spotted Stella on the street and was now stumbling in her direction, “How bout you and me go somewhere a little more private?”

“How bout not, baby?” Stella sighed, trying to say in character. He was still a good distance from her, but she could smell the alcohol rolling off him from where she was standing, “You won’t even remember me in the morning.”

Suddenly, the man’s face turned red, and anger filled his voice. “What? I’m not good enough for you, whore?!?!?”

“Easy baby,” Stella sighed, as he started to back her into the wall, “You don’t know what you’re doing.”

“I do know damn well what I’m doing!” he slurred angrily, reaching her and pushing her back into the wall. Pain exploded as she hit the wall, hard. It knocked the wind out of her briefly, and she felt him pin her to the wall. “You’re gonna do you job, whore! Even if I have to make you do it!”

She felt the grain of the brick digging into her back as he pushed against her. The smell of the alcohol was overwhelming, and it was fogging her senses, and she tried to reach for the gun hidden under her skirt, but she couldn’t. She tried to push him off, but there wasn’t enough leverage. She was trapped.

And she was starting to get scared.

“Do you like it?” he whispered in her ear, “Do you like it rough?”

“Stop!” she protested, suddenly finding it harder to breathe. She was beginning to think she was never going to get out of it, when suddenly, the weight on top of her was gone. Air rushed into her lungs, her jelly legs gave out from under her and she collapsed to the ground. She heard the sound of a struggle next to her, before Flack’s made-up face came into view.

“Stella?” he said, “Stell? You alright?”

She took a couple deep breaths before nodding, and letting Flack help her to her feet. “You sure?” he asked, again, and she nodded. She turned and saw O’Riley restraining the man, and she let out a deep sigh of relief, and collapsed against the wall again.

“Holy shit,” she sighed.

“Yeah, holy shit,” he replied with a smile.

“Thanks for having my back,” she said with a smile.

“It’s my job, Bonasera,” he replied, the easy charm returning to his manner, “But I am never, ever running in these shoes again. I don’t know how you women do it, I swear to God—”

First: the idea of Flack in a dress? Amusing as hell. And that last comment of his was priceless.

Second: you must write more of them together before we saw them on the show. I like the way you did it with this one.

*snickers* Flack? In a dress? *giggles*

Funniness of Flack in a dress aside, I like Flack and Stella working together prior to the pilot. Stella's backstory is my favourite kind of fic, and it's always good to hear more about Flack. :)

Hi, wow, that was really good. So funny, Flack in a dress? Poor boy, LOL.

And I agree with the other commenters... write more with Flack and Stella! I love their dynamic...they have such great chemistry but we don't see them together enough, I don't think. I can tell already that you write them perfectly. It would be fun to see their other "adventures" as rookies together from your POV. :)

thanks! that's the plan. i just haven't had a good idea in a while. but i definitely plan on writing more of them soon.
