“Well—we’re at a bit of an impasse, aren’t we?”
Ava’s eyebrow cocked and she gave him a smirk as she settled into a chair across from him. Sam only leaned back in his chair, studying her slightly as before he spoke.
“How’s that?”
“Well—only one of us can win,” she sighed, crossing her legs and raking her teeth over her bottom lip. “And frankly, I’ve had a bit more practice.”
“Have you?”
“Far as I know,” she sighed. “I mean—I have been out here for six months. You’ve just been playing around with visions and headaches.”
Sam ran his tongue over the edge of his teeth before getting up and heading towards her, stepping over a body —Andy, probably. The demon had done a pretty good job of making sure that the body just wasn’t discernable anymore. “I think I’ve gotten in a bit more practice than you think.”
“Have you?” she repeated, raising an eyebrow in a smirk.
“I have,” he nodded.
“Its too bad only one of us can make it, then,” she sighed, getting up as he came towards her. “I always thought you were kinda cute.”
“You’re missing the big picture here,” he murmured against her ear as he backed her into the wall. “We could take over his army, just the two of us. We don’t need him.”
“Don’t need the man who made us who we are?” Ava said, shuddering slightly as her hands ran over his back. “Well, well, well. Sam Winchester—mutinous bastard.”
“I just think we should take what’s ours,” he whispered, teeth nipping at the skin behind her ear. “Don’t you?”
“And here I was thinking you were this sweet little guy who couldn’t hurt a fly,” she whispered, his nails digging into his back slightly as he bit down harder, this time on her neck. His tongue laved over the bruise before his lips moved back to her ear again, and he whispered back to her.
“Whadaya think, Ava? You and me against the world?”
“I’d settle for just you and me against the wall,” she whispered, snaking her arm around his neck and pulling him into a rough kiss. He crushed her against the wall, lips and teeth fighting with each other for dominance. The kiss was far from the ones she was used to—the ones with her fiancé had always been softer, gentler—and she thought she had liked that.
But Sam—Sam was something else entirely. He was aggressive, and rough, pushing her almost to the point of pain, but she found that she didn’t mind too much. She was so caught up in the kiss that she barely registered one hand leaving her body—not until she felt the flash of pain. She looked down as she pulled away from him, and looked up in shock at the sight of the hilt of the knife in her stomach.
“You bastard,” she whispered as her legs buckled out from under her, sending her body sliding down the wall.
“You said it yourself, sweetheart,” Sam said, giving her an evil grin as he pulled off his top shirt, that was covered in her blood. “Sam Winchester, mutinous bastard.”
Her breathing started to get slower, and her vision was getting black around the edges. Sam leaned into her again, crouching down next to her, and giving her that puppy dog look that reeled her in to begin with.
“I have to say, Ava—this was a very hard choice. I’m gonna miss you.” He placed a hand on her shoulder as everything faded out entirely, “But there can only be one.”
