“There an ID on him, Alexx?” Maka asked as she arrived on the scene, walking over to where the coroner was crouched next to the body. The victim was a young man in his late twenties, who looked like he had been on the wrong end of a pretty big gun. He had been found in an abandoned warehouse relatively near the docks.
“Nope,” Alexx Woods shook her head, “Looks like this guy’s a John Doe.”
“I guess I’ll go start collecting statements then,” she sighed, glancing around at the people the uniforms had detained when they were setting up the perimeter, “Do you know who’s heading up this case?”
“Well, I just came from a double that Calleigh and Natalia were processing,” Alexx replied, continuing to get the body ready for transport, “So it’s probably Delko and Ryan out on this one.”
Maka gave her a nod before heading over to the group of witnesses. It wasn’t much longer before Horatio Caine arrived on the scene and headed over to Alexx.
“What have we got, Alexx?” he asked, and she took a deep breath before she began.
“Male vic, wouldn’t put him beyond his late twenties,” Alexx began, “Multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, and the lividity is fixed which means he died here.”
“He have a name?”
“Nope,” Alexx sighed, “John Doe.”
“Is there someone collecting statements?”
Alexx nodded in the other woman’s direction, “Detective Maka got here just before you did.” He watched as the man followed her eyes, “You haven’t worked with her yet, have you?”
“No, Alexx,” he said, before taking off his sunglasses, “But I’m about too.”
“Detective Maka,” Horatio began as Maka turned from the last witness she had to interview. He had heard quite a few things about the new detective from around the lab, but he had yet to meet the woman himself. He gave her a soft smile before continuing, “I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure of working together yet.”
“The infamous Lieutenant Caine,” she said with a grin, “It seems as though we haven’t.”
“Detective Taylor in New York speaks very highly of you,” Horatio said.
“Next time I speak with him, I’ll have to thank him for putting in a good word,” she said with a nod.
“Well,” he said, as he replaced his sunglasses, “Let’s get to work. What have you got?”
“One of the tenants came out this morning to get his morning paper and found the body there. Early canvas of the neighbors say they’ve never seen him before, and as far as they know he’s not a tenant, and they claim to have not seen or heard anything unusual last night, so I was just getting ready to go in and start knocking on doors.”
“Delko’s gonna be late,” Ryan sighed as he arrived on the scene, “He’s coming from a B and E across town.”
“That’s alright, Mr. Wolfe,” Horatio replied, “When he gets here, he can help Detective Maka with the canvas. You start processing the body, and the scene, and I—will talk to the man who found him.”
Maka watched Horatio as he walked off, and raised an eyebrow to his back, before turning to Ryan, “Mr. Wolfe?”
“Yeah,” Ryan nodded.
“He ever just call you Ryan or Wolfe?”
Ryan took a deep breath before shaking his head, “No, no he doesn’t.”
Maka nodded slowly before speaking, “O-kay.”

As a random by the way, I saw the movie 'Gandhi' in school yesterday, and everytime Gandhi had something smart to say he would put on his glasses and it reminded me so much of Horatio that I laughed until I cried.

i've gotten to the point where i don't mind horatio as much as i used to...can't say i love him, but it's fun to make fun of the weird quirks he has. and he's a lot of fun to write in fic, because the way he talks is so easy to get down. he goes through a lot of the same mannerisms and his cadence is relatively consistent. it makes my life easier.
anyway, i'm glad you liked it.

but it's been a pretty calleigh-centric season, which means things are slightly less over the top than usual. i've been pretty happy with it.

plus, i heard that delko speaks russian. which, even in theory, is making my brain melt.

i happen to like ryan a lot though, despite how much i pick on him, and i really hope tha i like speedle as well.

And I think the Speedle fans backed a bit of because Rory made it so clear that he wanted out.

but anna's characterization wasn't necessarily her own fault, that could be in the writing (which can be sub par when it comes to character development). but as i said, i walked in in the middle myself, so i guess me and lindsay kind of connected on that level, coming into something where they had already been a settled group.
i do wish they hadn't killed aiden though. while it's a great angst point for fic, i would have liked to see her come back and interact with lindsay.

also, there was the thing that they rode out the danny/lindsay ship till it sunk. they were cute in the beginning, but i was sick of it by the time "Love Run Cold" came around. i actually prefer to ship her with flack or hawkes.

it gives me a headache.

i can understand that. but the aiden lindsay issue with me, is i didn't see season 1 until after i was already a good deal into season 2. what really turned me off to the character was the way the fans i was talking to at the time turned her into the fandom's golden goddess, when really, in my opinion, she didn't really deserve it. i have nothing against the character...i just don't see how aiden and lindsay were that different.
luckily, the miami fans didn't do that as much with speedle, so i'm really looking forward to seeing some episodes with him in it.

i just think it's something maka would wonder about. mac doesn't necessarily walk around calling danny, mr. messer.
