OC Backstory - Will Richards
I did recast Will, because I was already using Dave Anable for another OC, and he didn't really fit Will so much as he did the other character. So--new face for Will.

Actual Person: Casey Affleck, Actor
Age: 25
Parents: Will Sr. and Simone Richards
Siblings: Jenna Richards
Will grew up in the same town in New Jersey that Eva Patterson and attended the same parish she did as a child. His parents were conservative Catholics, like Eva’s mother, but they weren’t as strict. He had one older sister, Jenna, and he spent most of his childhood playing the angel to her devil. Jenna seemed to feel it was her mission in life to fight her parents, and just made their lives more difficult than they already were. (The Richards tended to stand on rickety ground financially when Will was growing up.) She took off from home when Will was sixteen, after and explosive fight with their parents ended in her almost physically assaulting their mother. Will practically threw her out himself, and he hasn’t seen her since.
Otherwise, his childhood was normal. He went to school, made good grades, and always had a love for music and performing. He became good friends with Chelsea Carlson at a young age, and they wound up spending a lot of time together because of their personal interests. This friendship lasts through to this day, and no matter what, Will always counts her as one of his best friends. She was the one who dragged him into theater when they were in middle school, falling in love with the musical.
Despite living in the same town all their lives, Will and Eva first met in high school, through their drama club. They became fast friends, sharing a lot of the same interests, and Will was instrumental in helping Eva come out of her shell. When they were sixteen, shortly after Jenna’s explosive exit from the family, Eva was also one of the first people Will came out to. He still hasn’t come out fully to his parents (they think he’s just bisexual), and he wants to, but he’s not planning on it at this point, because although they took the first news rather well, he has a feeling that if he tells them the typical white church wedding may not be happening, things wouldn’t go over well. Especially after everything he went through with Jenna, he doesn’t want to be the one to cause another rift in the family.
Because of his not quite out status, Will has had very few solid relationships. Most men don’t want to deal with a guy who’s still “in the closet,” and will write Will off before they get a chance to know him. While Will is OK with where he is at this point in his life, it hurts that the guys he wants to date won’t give him more of a chance, even when he has good reason for not being out of the closet.
Because if their financial situation, Will kept his grades up, and became eligible for a program where if he attended his local community college for two years, and then moved on to a four year college, the state would pay for his entire education. He did that, majoring in theater arts at Raritan Valley Community College, and then moving on to finish up his degree at Rutgers University.
After graduating, he hooked up with Eva and Chelsea again, and followed them into the big city. They got cast in a production of Once Upon a Mattress, where they first met Ryan Hamilton, and, by extension, John Benson and Darius McDowell. He was living with Eva and Chelsea at the time, but as he got closer to Darius, he started spending less and less time with Eva and Chelsea, and more time at John and Ryan’s. When Darius’s company transferred him to Seattle, John and Ryan needed someone to help him pay the rent, and since Will was there most of the time anyway, they offered it to him first. Since he got along with them rather well, he agreed, and he’s been living there ever since.
Will loves performing more than anything else. He’d rather be on stage than breathing at some points, and it helps keep him from falling apart when times got rough. He also loves to play various pranks on his cast mates, just to keep the mood light, and his most notorious one was “Carl the Truckstop Fairy,” where, during one of the final dress rehearsals for one of the various productions of Midsummer he’s done, he dressed himself and Ryan up in fairy costumes, and they went prancing, rather ungracefully, across the stage during curtain call.
