there's nothing like amazing flackOC fics that'll motivate you to work on your own flackOC project. *cough pimp cough* laguera25 writes some really amazing stuff that gives flack this whole other darkside. it's really good.

however, no matter how much of the amazing-ness i read, i still can't resist turning flack into a white knight. i can't do it. but it doesn't mean he doesn't have issues. they're just...i dunno. *smacks self* stop rambling and post fic!

Author's Note: In my little world, Flack gets his eyes from his mom. And he's a total mama's boy. Because I love Mama Flack, even though she's never had the pleasure of gracing our TV screens.

I'm going to kvetch here. Please don't take this as an indictment of the fic or your skill as a writer, but...I hate Eve. Irrationally and fanatically. She strikes me as a cold-hearted, narcissistic bint. Mama Flack was absolutely right: She did abandon him. Flack can slice it any way he wants it, and Eva can justify it any way she likes, but that's exactly what she did. I have no sympathy. Zero. And I'm very surprised Flack isn't angrier and more wounded about it.

That being said, I loved the Mama Flack/Flack interaction.

You remember the links you posted to you various 'verses? I read those. And boy, did Eva chap my ass. Maybe it's just me, but for all her talk of swearing she loved Flack, she did a piss-poor job of showing it. I don't care if the President is offering you a job, you turn it down flat if your love is hurt to that extent. Or at least offer to stay. To just traipse into his hospital room, declare you're taking a job that will keep you apart for a year, and then sashay out again without allowing him to react is callous, low, and nasty, and there is no excuse for it. Period. It's self-serving and cruel, especially when you know that if the situation were reversed, Flack wouldn't have had to think about it. At all. Death by Greyhound bus couldn't come fast enough for her at that point.

you're actually the first person to not like eva, which is somewhat refreshing, and i'm happy that it's not for a reason that she's mary-sue-ish or any of that sense. but in this sense, i have to defend her.

in the theater profession, you turn down a part, no matter what the reason, you don't work again. eva can't live on love. that's just not the way things work.

also, i know flack seems like a hardass, and he's a strong character, but anyone he cares about can walk all over him and it seems like he doesn't even realize it. (you see this more with danny than with anyone else right now, but i bet any of the other characters can take advantage of it as well.) and it's not as though Eva doesn't feel guilt, or pain about having to do this to him, but she really felt like she was stuck with her back to a wall and no way out.

Maybe I could sympathize with her position if she'd stayed and taken the consequences of her decision-seen him struggle with the realization that she was not going to be there while he went through this horrific ordeal, or if she'd apologized for it, but she didn't. She just dropped it on his lap and went away, and that's not fair. I can't forgive that.
