OC Backstory - Theresa Cassavelli
I made an icon! And I had her backstory hand written in a notebook, so I figured I'd type it up and post it. I don't have many pictures at the moment, and it's late, so I will be finding pictures for her family and stuff, and finish making this pretty in the morning. Also--if there are any inconsistencies in the round robin, I'll iron them out for the final posting of that fic. I was still trying to iron her out when we were writing this, so just take what is written here as canon, and I'll fix what was written there later.

Actual Person Pictured: Evangeline Lily, Actress
Age: 30
Parents: Antonio, Sr., and Lousia Montegro
Siblings: Joseph, Antonio, Jr., Marco, and Timothy Montegro
Originally born Theresa Montegro, she was the oldest of two children born to Antonio and Lousia Montegro, and Antonio’s only girl. When she was four, and her brother, Joseph was one, their mother died under mysterious circumstances, which was later ruled an accident. Her father quickly remarried a woman named Helena Carmichael. Helena is the mother of Antonio’s other three sons, Antonio Junior, Mario, and Timothy. Theresa considers Helena more of a mother than her own, whom barely remembers. Helena taught her how to cook and being the only girl in the family, they became very close. Theresa also credits Helena with keeping her out of the ‘family business.’
Having four younger brothers forced her to grow up as a bit of a tomboy, and she learned how to fist fight like the best of them. She has never been afraid to assert herself, even when she was a child, and she was never really on the outskirts when it came to her brothers. She was especially close with the baby, Timmy, who was always a bit shyer than the rest of his brothers, and tended to go along with whatever his siblings wanted.
When she was fifteen, she discovered what her father really did for a living. It was also when she first met Sonny Sassone and Louie Messer, the beginnings of the Tanglewood Boys. Sonny’s father had ‘business’ to attend to with her father, and she happened to stumble onto the meeting. She had heard about the mob ties in the area, but she hadn’t realized that her father was actually one of them. When she found out, she was determined to not let her or her brothers do the same. That changed when her father was shot by Sonny, leaving Antonio paralyzed from the shoulders down, and he managed to get away with it. Joey was determined to get revenge for his father’s injury, and this desire resulted in a huge fight between himself and his sister. The wounds caused by that fight didn’t really heal, and she still barely speaks to him, except for when he calls her first. All four of her brothers than swore their loyalty to Pelam Bay, and have been there ever since.
When she was eighteen, she changed her last name to her birth mother’s maiden name of Cassavelli. She got her associates degree in criminal justice, and then moved on to the police academy. She there developed the majority of her reputation for being abusive and hard to work with, but she still graduated from the top of her class. She started her first patrol, and happened to be on the same one as a uniform named Danny Messer. At first, she refused to get along with him, and he did the same to her, but they eventually reached a point where they agreed that they were on the same side, and learned to tolerate each other.
When she got promoted to detective, she was sent to Vice under Captain Don Flack, Sr. He and Theresa butted heads from the get-go, especially when he was having trouble finding her a partner to work with. He finally placed her with Darren Mullvaney. They still continued to butt heads until she found out he had a son who was also a cop. While Don, Jr., tried his best to resist her advances, he found himself failing miserably, and they had very brief, very sexual relationship, which culminated with them getting walked in on by his father while almost having sex on the older Flack’s desk. Flack ended the ‘relationship’ shortly after that, but thus began her spree of very brief relationships with various members of the NYPD, but none who she knew would brag about it. She didn’t need the reputation of being a slut as well as a bitch.
Theresa has very strong intimacy issues, mostly stemming from her fear of having her family found out, and her losing her job for it. She doesn’t want that aspect of her life revealed to anyone in the department, aside from those who she knows can keep their mouth shut about it, which leads to her having very few people that she will let get close enough to her to really talk to them about anything. She puts a lot of trust in the people she works with, Mullvaney, Jake McCallahan, and Michael Anderson, but other than that, she feels that her trust needs to be earned.
