Five Loves of Mac Taylor

Fandom: CSI:NY with crossovers with CSI: Miami and CSI.
Title: Five Loves of Mac Taylor
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iluvroadrunner6
Rating: FRT
Characters: Mac Taylor/various pairings
Content Warning: N/A
Summary: Five pairings that could happen.
Author's Note: Written for my Mac!whore, [livejournal.com profile] iheartnickcath in response to the Five Pairings Meme. These were actually kinda fun to write in the end, even though Mac pairings are not exactly the easiest for me.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of CSI, CSI: Miami, and CSI:NY. They are owned by CBS.

Stella Bonasera

Mac did a double take when he spotted Stella coming out of the interrogation room covered in a thin green gook of some kind. He stopped where he was going and just glanced from her, to the now-green colored windows of the room, and back to her again.

“Stella?” he asked, “You alright?”

Stella looked up and just laughed, “I’m fine, Mac. Someone just slipped a slime bomb of some kind into the interrogation room, and then baited me to go in there.”

“What?”

“Probably one of the techs. They said I had left a case file there, and when I went to get it, things suddenly got a little—messy,” she sighed before holding up a manila folder, “But they were right. I did leave a case file there.”

She started to laugh when she saw the panic on Mac’s face, then handed it to him to open. Resting inside the folder was a typed out piece of paper reading in big bold letters: APRIL FOOLS!

“Today’s April Fool’s Day,” Mac said, and Stella nodded. At that, Adam poked his head out of his lab, and when he spotted Stella, he pumped his fist in the air, and Stella’s eyes widened.

“I’m gonna kill him,” she said, before she felt Mac catch her forearm.

“Better to catch him when he’s unprepared.” Stella looked up at him in awe.

“You’re going to help?” Mac nodded and she grinned, “I knew there was a reason I liked you.”

***

Peyton Driscoll

“They speak very well of you here,” Peyton whispered to him one night as they were getting ready to go to sleep. It was her first day back in the coroner’s office, and she was surprised with how well the other coroners talked of Mac. She knew Hawkes respected Mac greatly, but she had no idea that the rest of the medical examiner’s office felt the same.

“Really?” he said, and Peyton nodded eagerly.

“Sheldon keeps telling me these anecdotes of cases you’ve worked on together,” she said, resting her head on his chest, “You’ve come up with quite the interesting caseload.”

“Keeps things interesting,” he said, and she smiled.

“And all the CSIs seem very fond of you,” Peyton nodded, “You’re very—loved there.”

“So does that change your opinion of me any?” he asked, and the smile widened.

“A little,” she sighed as she moved up to kiss him, “But I promise it’s for the better.”

***

Catherine Willows

“So—clocking out soon?” Catherine asked, leaning slightly in the doorway of the layout room.

“Wasn’t planning on it,” Mac replied, barely looking up from what he was doing. He and Catherine were both supervisors, so they saw eye to eye on the idea that things needed to get done, or he had at least thought they had. “Why?”

“I was gonna offer to buy you a drink,” she said, walking over to stand next to him, “Give you the lay of the land a bit.”

He blinked up at her for a second, before turning back to the evidence, “There’s still a lot of evidence here to process,” he stated.

“You’re no fun,” she teased.

“No offense, Miss Willows,” he began, “But I’m here to do a job, and I’m not going to spend time away from this case until I have something solid to tell this officer’s wife back in New York.”

“Well, no offense, Detective Taylor,” Catherine replied as she turned and started to walk away, “But you need to get out more.”

***

Lindsay Monroe

Lindsay looked up at Mac with hopeful eyes as she rattled off her theory for the case and backed it up with evidence. It was the first case she’d soloed on since she arrived in New York, and she was worried that she might miss something and Mac would catch it. She watched his face searching for some kind of sign that she had done well, and all she saw was a small flick in the corner of his mouth, as though he was trying to suppress a smile.

“Good work, Lindsay.”

Good work?

She turned to Flack in disbelief, “I put my heart and soul into this, and all I get is good work?”

“Lindsay—”

“Seriously—if that’s his way of inspiring confidence in his employees, he needs to work on it a little more. A simple ‘good work’ isn’t going to cut it a lot of the time.”

“Lindsay—” he said, rushing to try and stop her when he saw the look on her face turn to panic again.

“Oh, God, what if I missed something? That must be it. I missed something, and that was his way of telling me to go back and look again.” She started to page through the file, and suddenly felt Flack’s hands on her shoulders, turning her to face him.

“Monroe. Hold up for two seconds.” She didn’t say anything, just stared at him.

“Did he yell at you?”

“No.”

“Did he tell you that you missed something?”

“No.”

“Then ease up,” he gave her a brief pat on the shoulder before leaving, “It means he likes you.”

Calleigh Duquesne

Stella gave Calleigh a smile as she walked into the breakroom and offered her a cookie from the bag in front of her. Calleigh took one with a smile, “You’re Stella right?”

The other woman nodded, “And you’re Calleigh? Did I get that right?” The blond woman nodded, and Stella smiled.

“You know, I’ve heard quite a few things about you.”

Calleigh looked up in surprise, “Really?”

“Gossip really flies around here,” Stella sighed, “But the main rumor about you is that you and Mac are having a sordid affair.”

A blush crossed the blond woman’s cheeks, before she responded, “Well—I don’t think sorid is the word I’d use—”

Stella’s eyes went wide with surprise, “You are?” Calleigh nodded, and Stella smiled.

“Mac’s actually getting a life. Who woulda thought I’d see the day?”

“He’s a bit anti-social around here?” Calleigh asked, politely confused.

“Anti-social’s not necessarily what I mean,” Stella replied, “I’m just looking forward to you introducing him to the concept of sleep again.”

“A bit of an insomniac?”

“Him and Sleep had a falling out,” Stella joked, “But I think you could reintroduce them.”

“I’ll try my best,” Calleigh laughed, starting to relax a bit more, “But I think easier things have been done.”

“True,” Stella nodded, “But don’t worry—” She placed a hand on the woman’s shoulder and looked her in the eye, “—I have faith in you.”

OMG....Here I thought I was a solid Mac/Lindsay shipper there but I swear to god.....there is SERIOUS potential in the Mac/Calleigh arena!!! Great work on all of them, as usual ;-)

[identity profile] myherodrowning.livejournal.com 2007-01-22 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I really liked the Mac/Lindsay one. Mostly because I can so imagine Lindsay overreacting in exactly that way, and Flack trying to calm her down but she's just not listening. The Calleigh one was cute, I can really see her not knowing that Mac was different up in NY.

Mac isn't exactly my favorite person, but he's interesting to write.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-22 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
he's not mine either, but he can be fun. especially when it surprised!mac. those are always interesting.

i actually kinda loved the mac/lindsay one. those two usually give me a headache, but lindsay actually wanted to cooperate today. it was kinda nice.

i'm glad you liked it.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-22 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
thank you! the mac/calleigh one was actually kinda fun. i need to write more girl talk/gossip in my fics.

i'm glad you liked it.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-22 02:58 am (UTC)(link)

These were all great. And damn you, now I'm having serious thoughts about shipping Mac/Catherine...

On another note? You're using one of my Mac icons! I thought no one liked that icon, so it made my day seeing you use it.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-22 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
i like this one! i think i missed it when you originally posted it, but when i went back through icon posts to look for one, i thought it was pretty.

and i'm glad you liked it.

The Smacked one and MaCath were amazing!! But they were all well written =)

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
hee...thank you! if lynn doesn't pick that one for me to develop, the smacked on might turn into your request.

i'm glad you liked it.

[identity profile] iheartnickcath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
MaCath!!!!!!!!!!!!! .. hehe, its funny that those are actually already all my ships. Damn Mac!

Great job Flack!Whore, you should write more. ;)

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
i do have to write more, because you have to tell me which one your favorite is, so i can write a longer one.

[identity profile] iheartnickcath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
MaCath, do MaCath!!! ♥

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
MaCath it is. i actually liked that one quite a bit.

[identity profile] iheartnickcath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
haha, really now?

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
well, better than the mac/catherine that was in the cath!fic. if i had to pick one of those to write, it would have been this one.

[identity profile] iheartnickcath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you do that?

MaCath is my hot angst ship. You should have fun with it sometime. :P

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe. maybe if i like writing this one, i'll write more of it for my giant CSIverse series.

[identity profile] iheartnickcath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
hehe, ya really shoulds. :D

Mac/Lindsay was good I could so have seen this happen in the show, cause she does try to impress him with her demonstrations - like when she smeared his face with the gel in one ep then the tie demonstration in another. Mac/Cath struck me as a very season one Mac Taylor way to much work and no play.

Loved all of these, they were all so plausible. I think of all of them the Mac/Stella one and the Mac/Calleigh one both caught my imagination. I would love to see you do a follow up to them. I could just imaging Stella heading after Adam. And Macs line about catching him unprepared, I like Mac with a sneaky streak..*g*. But Mac/Calleigh oh I LIKE this idea, I like it a lot.

I noticed you said Mac is not your favorite character, well all I can say is for a character you are not wild about you write him very well, thanks for sharing.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-28 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you! i probably will wind up writing up the mac/stella and mac/catherine ones for friends, and i'll probably pimp them more than i did this one.

i'm glad you liked it

I have to say I like to foollow cannon ships an mac/Peyton are hard to find so I've started writing them myself to fill the need. I really like what you did here

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I wrote another Mac/Peyton piece actually, if you're interested:

The Great Wall of Mac Taylor (http://iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com/68182.html)

It's a bit angsty, but I'm actually pretty proud of it.

I just saw it and commented :)
