OC Backstory - Lilly Harper
yup. still bored. although you shouldn't favor one child over the other, my muse seems to like lilly quite a bit as of late. and that's the only plot bunnies she's been allowing to escape the cage. it's not fun.

Actual person: Elisabeth Röhm, actress
Age: 30
Parents: Paul and Mary Ann Harper
Siblings: Derek, Nathaniel, and Whitney Harper
Lilly Harper was born in a small town in Southern Jersey, buried deep in the middle of the Pine Barrens. The town wasn't just small, however, the houses were also spread far apart, due to the nature of the land, and there weren't many children in the area where Lilly was growing up. Fortunately for her, she was the youngest of four, with three brothers ahead of her (Derek, Nathaniel, and Whitney).
Her mother, Mary Ann, was ecstatic when her fourth child turned out to be a baby girl, and tried to get her interested in the same things she was, but has always been slightly broken hearted that Lilly grew up being "one of the boys." Her brother's love of football, fishing, basically anything physical made more of an impression on her than any of her mother's attempts to get her interested in the more girly aspects of life. Her mother wanted her daughter to be happy, of course, so she allowed Lilly to pursue what she wished, but that didn't stop her from trying to get her to develop similar interests from time to time.
Her father, Paul, was a strong advocate of the armed forces, and although a injury early on in life prevented him from having a career in the military, it was something he strongly impressed upon his boys, and, indirectly, Lilly. Lilly watched as one after the other her brothers went off to basic training: first Derek to the Air Force, then Nate to the Marines, and finally Whit to the Navy. When the time finally came for her to go, she was talked out of it by her mother, asking her to go to college and see more of the world first before she made that kind of decision. She obliged her mother, and enrolled in Douglass College, part of Rutgers University, intending to major in Biology.
The sciences had always interested her, and she worked hard, still intending to go into the Marines like Nate had. However, the interest was waning, and she was considering other forms of civil service, that had more involvement in the sciences. She was finishing her sophmore year when Nate was shipped out to Kuwait during the Gulf War, and in the middle of her senior year, Nate was killed in action.
His death hit Lilly hard, as she was closer to him than her other brothers, and only proved to reignite the desire to go into the armed forces. But this time, instead of prodding like she normally did, Mary Ann put her foot down, and told her no. She had already lost a son to the Marines, she wasn't about to lose her only daughter too. She begged Lilly to consider a way to server her country that was closer to home, and, coming across a description of the CSI labs in New York over the course of her research, enrolled in the New York City Police Acadamey, where she met her long time friend, Darren Mullvaney. After completing her time at the acadamey, sent her resumé in to the head of the labs there. Not much interest in being a uniform, she did her beat work as she had to, worming her way up through homicide until she was made a detective, while working on her CSI credentials at the same time. Once she had finally worked enough to be allowed to solo on a scene, Mac Taylor hired her as part of his team, which, at the time included himself, Stella Bonasera, and a man named Walt Anderson. About nine months after Lilly was hired, Walt left his position at the crimelab, and Mac hired a new detective, a man by the name of Danny Messer.
Lilly is a lot of routine. She does things a certain way every time, and is not a big fan of change. It's not OCD, but it is a compulsion she tries hard to work around when things don't go her way. She tries to find ways to cut the amount of time she spends on something, but once she's accostumed to doing things a certain way, it's very rare that you can talk her out of doing it that particular way. She's quick when on her feet, something she's learned growing up with three brothers, but she has always felt more comfortable around guys than she has among other women, the exception to that being Stella and Maka.
She loves the Giants. More than she should. Danny's convinced that if forced to choose between him and the Giants, it'd be him getting the axe and not her team. Win, lose, or fail miserably, she supports her team. She considers Giant's Stadium a religious shrine, and telling her that the Giants suck, or insult one of the players, or that you like the Jets better is asking for her to either rip you a new one, or dump the nearest liquid substance she finds on you. Those are her boys, and she loves them.
and that's Lilly. if i forgot anything, i'll add it later.
