Summary: Five pairings that could happen.
Author's Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] tinga13 in response to the Five Pairings Meme. I'm actually kinda happy with these. Catherine is such a flirt, and there aren't too many characters like her.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of CSI and CSI:NY. They are owned by CBS.

Gil Grissom

“So when do you get back?” Grissom asked into the phone.

“Probably another week,” Catherine’s voice crackled back him, “Lindsey wants to go to Disney again, and we were supposed to hit Universal Studios.”

“Another week for two theme parks?” Grissom asked.

“Well, there’s that, and then there’s the flight back, and me getting back on Nevada time,” she sighed, “So I’d say give me another week before I’m fully operational again.”

Grissom smirked, “Jet lag really get to you?”

“It can, occasionally,” she sighed, “How’s everything running over there?”

“Fine,” Grissom replied quickly, “Business as usual.”

“Good to hear.”

“I miss you,” he said, and he could hear the smile in her voice as she responded.

“I miss you too.”

“Good to hear.”

“Its still gonna be another week.”

“I wouldn’t expect anything less.”

Nick Stokes

Catherine felt Nick come up behind her in the locker room, and glanced around to make sure no one was watching before she responded.

“Can I help you, Nicky?”

“Doing anything after shift?” he asked, and she smiled.

“Absolutely nothing,” she sighed happily, “Lindsey is at sleepaway camp and I have no other plans.”

“Mind making some?” Nick asked, and she gave him a curious look over her shoulder.

“What do you have in mind?”

“Well, I just happened to find something in my locker over there that I think we could have a little fun with.”

“Really?” she smirked, “And what’s that?” He held up his fingers, and she could see the steel handcuffs dangling from them. Her eyebrows raised slightly.

“Thought you might find those interesting,” he said.

“Who’s the one getting tied up?” she asked, crossing her arms across her chest.

“I was thinking we could take turns, but whoever goes first is up to you,” he replied, mirroring her position.

“When do you get off shift?”

“Bout an hour.”

“I’ll meet you in the car.”

Greg Sanders

“You are late,” Greg announced as she walked into his lab for her results.

“Well, Greg, some of us have lives that prevent us from getting here at the exact moment we are needed,” Catherine said with her small, polite, ‘fuck you’ smile, and Greg winced.

“My apologies, milady,” he then handed her the folder with the results, “Anything else I can do for you today?”

“I think that’ll be all,” Catherine said with a smirk.

“Well, let me know if you need anything else.”

“I will,” she sighed, starting to walk out before turning back and looking at Greg, “Oh, and Greg? Don’t ever criticize me for being late again.”

“Lesson already learned.”

“Good,” Catherine smiled as she walked out, and Greg caught Nick’s eye as he was walking by. He frowned at the look on Nick’s face.

“What?”

“Dude—” Nick began with a smirk, “She’s got you whipped.”

Warrick Brown

They both had different ways of coping. Everyone did. Not the same method was going to work for everyone. Because every person was different. And handled different things different ways. It was the way the world worked.

But she wasn’t going to lie to him to gloss it over for him so that he could feel better about the situation. She wasn’t going to deny the fact that when he ran off and got married after what happened to Nicky—that it broke her heart. So now he was going to stand in front of her and accuse her of being unsupportive. And she wanted to yell back to him, ask him what there was for her to support? Who was this woman that both of them barely knew, and why should she be in favor of this Tina person?

Sorry, buster. She wasn’t going to kiss his ass for someone he’d known a month.

“I’m sorry, Warrick. But what do you want me to do?”

Mac Taylor

“I don’t get him,” Catherine mused to Sara as they stood and watched Mac from the layout room across the hall.

“Don’t get what about him?” Sara asked, giving her friend a look.

“Just—him,” Catherine replied, “In general.”

“Well,” Sara paused, looking over at the other man, “He’s a workaholic, single, lives alone.”

A smirk crept up on the blond woman’s lips, “Sounds like someone we know.”

Sara nodded with a grin, “He’s the New York version of Grissom.”

“Yup,” Catherine replied, “Only difference is he’s actually attractive.”
