Another Fic Project

[livejournal.com profile] goddess_loki and I were talking last night about how it would be entirely amusing if my OC from my See You Again Yesterday series and Christina from her Nothing's Like Before series were to meet and he were to flirt with her, pending possible bodily harm, anyway. So we're co-writing a fic, this time, over here on my journal. It's not going to be completely AU for her series, but slightly AU for mine.

Anyway, same rules apply, you all are more than welcome to track this post and see our progress but I ask that you do not comment. This is strictly for the two of us to comment to.

Christina yawned. It was another long day, another one where she'd much rather be curled up next to Danny in bed than actually at work. They hadn't had sex, nothing like that...yet. But it was nice to have a warm body to sleep next to sometimes.

She looked around. Lindsay was headed her way, looking a little surprised. She popped her head into Christina's office. "Mac wants to see you?"

She looked through the glass wall to see Mac's office. She didn't get a good view, but it looked like he was sitting there, behind his desk. "Why didn't he just come get me?"

"I have no clue. I think you aren't going to be the only one in there, though."

She looked surprised, then groaned. "Oh, please tell me Adam didn't blab about seeing me kiss Danny in the locker room yesterday... It was only once!"

"Or just the first time you two got caught," Lindsay said with a wicked gleam in her eye.

"Lindsay?"

"Yeah?"

"Shut up." She got up out of her chair and headed towards Mac's office, expecting the worst.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac looked up as he saw Christina came in. He really hated doing this to her, especially considering the day she looked like she had had, but he needed a CSI and she was the only one really available.

"Christina, first off let me say I'm very, very sorry that I have to do this," he then handed her a slip of paper with an assignment on it, "Detective McCallahan from Vice sent out a call for a CSI at their scene, so I'm sending you and Flack down to check it out. As more people become availale, I'll send you some backup."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
She groaned. She really did believe he was sorry, and part of her was relieved it had nothing to do with the day before, but...

"Okay. Not like I have much choice, right?" She grinned slightly. "Can Flack fill me in on who Detective McCallahan is? I hate walking onto a scene not knowing who I'm dealing with." She thought for a minute. "And will I have enough time to call and cancel my lunch plans?"

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac nodded, "He'll probably be doing that and more all the way to the scene. He knows these four rather well."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
She raised an eyebrow. "If you find Flack dead in a ditch somewhere, I'm going to claim insanity by reason of the incessant talking of the victim." She picked up her assignment. "Just so you know."

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac smirked, "I think you'll find what he has to say more interesting than annoying, Christina. These four are an--eclectic bunch."

"Hey, Christina?" Flack said, poking his head into Mac's office, "You read you go?"

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I guess." She turned around and left Mac's office, stopping for a minute when her cell phone went off. She saw Flack's eyebrows raise as Goldfrapp's "Lovely 2 C U" played briefly on her phone. "Danny?"

"Gotta cancel today," he said. "Stella and I have to go round up a suspect, and--"

"No problem. I'm on a case with Flack and some people from Vice."

Danny was quiet for a moment. "Vice?"

"Yeah. Vice. Why?"

"Flack's got some stories."

"So Mac told me."

"You want me to cancel the reservation?" he asked.

She sighed. "Yeah, might as well. Susan's in rehersal or else I'd tell her and William to take it."

"I'll make it up to you."

"How?"

"I'll make dinner tonight. Steak. At my place."

She grinned. "Okay. But I want mashed potatoes this time."

"Done. Talk to you later."

"Bye." She hung up and looked at Flack. "Sorry about that..."

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"No big," Flack shrugged, "Now, there's just a few things you need to know about these guys: Stay on Cassavelli's good side, ignore anything that comes out of Anderson or McCallahan's mouth that you consider--not so PC and just--stay away from Mullvaney entirely."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think the political incorrectness is going to bother me much," she said. She thought for a minute as she tapped her finger against her chin. "And why should I avoid what's-his-name?"

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Flack smirked, "That's more for Danny's sake than for yours. Mullvaney likes his CSIs. He's not crude about it, but I don't think Danny will hesitate to kick his ass."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
She'd never seen a jealous streak in Danny, but she was sure if someone pushed hard enough they'd find one. She never minded when he talked about Lilly because he kept assuring her he was happy. He didn't seem to mind when she talked about Jonathan.

Of course, she was usually ranting about him as opposed to actually talking about him.

She shook her head. "Okay, what's this guy's usual modus operandi?" she asked, pulling out one of the few Latin phrases she knew.

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"It changes depending on the girl," Flack replied slowly, "With Lindsay it was the fact that Danny had mentioned her once or twice, and he was trying to one-up him. Now, since you and Danny are actually dating and he probably hasn't heard about that yet--I don't know what he'll do."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
She smirked. "Lindsay probably didn't like being used as a prize, did she?" She thought for a moment. "How about if we tell him up front that I broke a guy's nose when he tried to feel me up at a bar? And that Danny almost murdered the guy?" She grinned. "And that this happened last week?"

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now, Mullvaney's not like that. It'll just be harmless flirting," Flack shook his head, "It's in his nature. And he's not disgusting about it. He just--won't stop."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"With Danny, the not stopping thing was cute, but that was because I already liked him when he kept hounding me for a date. I don't know if I could deal with it from another guy."

She started walking again. "Sooner we get this done, sooner I can have a steak dinner that I don't have to cook." She looked at Flack. "And no, you can't have any leftovers I might have tomorrow. You always ask, so I'm telling you no right now."

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know me too well already," Flack shook his head, "That's a bad sign."

When they arrived at the scene, there were only three detectives present. "Hey, Flack!" Theresa Cassavelli shouted over to the man from where she was standing, "That the CSI?"

"Three Stooges, Christina Jensen," Flack introduced, "Christina, the Three Stooges."

"Cute, Flack," Cassavelli rolled her eyes, "Really cute." She then turned to Christina, "Theresa Cassavelli. That's Jack McCallahan, and Michael Anderson."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you." She smiled at the woman, glad to see she looked normal. "Which one is which of those two?"

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The two men looked at each other before responding. One was built like a tank, with dark hair and dark eyes, while the other was a slightly slimmer build.

"I'm McCallahan," the tank replied, raising his hand, "That's Anderson."

"Where's Mullvaney?" Flack asked.

"Coffee," the three replied together.

"Figures," Flack rolled his eyes, "You know, he could bring some for the CSI and homicide detective since he's leaving the scene anyway."

"I would, Flack," a voice came from behind them, "But I don't know what she likes, and--you have given me no reason to pay for your coffee." They both turned, and Darren Mullvaney flashed Christina a smile.

"Darren Mullvaney. You must be the new CSI, Christina Jensen."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
She raised her eyebrow. "Do I want to know how you know who I am, or am I--"

Her cell phone went off again. "Jensen."

"You meet Mullvaney yet?" Lindsay asked.

Christina pulled the phone away from her ear, glared at it, and then put it back. "Just now."

"Ah. Have fun. Oh, and Mac wants you to know your double homicide is being taken over by me and Hawkes."

"I thought he said when a case cleared up he'd send back-up."

"We just got a lead. I feel bad, but..."

Christina sighed. Cancelled lunch plans with Danny, notorious Vice cop, and now her collar was being taken away...this was shaping up to be a great day. "We need to nab the perp. Tell Mac I want to talk to him when I get back, though."

"Okay." Christina hung up and turned back to the group. "Sorry about that. Colleague needed to tell me something about one of my open cases."

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Mullvaney grinned, starting to hand out the coffee to his colleagues, "I want to know who warned you about me, Flack or Monroe?"

"I did," Flack replied, "I felt she had the right to be warned, considering she's dating Messer."

Mullvaney shook his head for a second, before replying, the grin still on his face, "C'mon Flack, you know me. I may look, but I don't touch."

Flack gave him a look, and Darren took a sip of his coffee, "It's very true. Oh, Harper says hello."

Flack's glare softened slightly, "How is she managing back in the stone age?"

"Alright," the other man nodded, "Fleet Week's coming up, so she should be back in the city soon."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Christina stayed quiet. Hearing that her current boyfriend's ex was coming into town was just the icing on the cake for her crappy day. Screw food, she was having a drink the minute her feet touched the tile in his kitchen.

She turned to Cassavelli. "While they play catch-up, I'd be interested in learning what's going on."

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure," Cassavelli nodded for the woman to follow her, "Vic's Angelo Montevido. He's a known meth dealer and general pain in Vice's ass. We were conducting a raid found him in here with two to the chest." She stopped in front of the bedroom where the dark haired man was sitting up against the bed, but very clearly dead, two bloody holes in his chest.

"Naturally, we aren't so sorry to see he's gone, but we want to know who beat us to the chance of locking him up for life."

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
She nodded, her mindset snapping into CSI mode. "I'll need to go grab my kit. It looks unless Stella or Danny get a break in their case, it'll just be me for a while and this is going to take a long time. I'm not trying to step on toes, but I need Flack to ask some specific questions of anyone who's been around and either entered the scene or knew about the victim who's here."

She paused for a moment. "I think Pino's the coroner on duty tonight. He likes me, so he'll push my autopsy ahead of anyone elses." She grinned. "Helps to have a friend in the coroner's office. Sooner I get that done, sooner I can help find out if someone just shot him or there was other foul play involved."

She knelt down, opened up her kit (which was a modified DJ flight case in blue), pulled a pair of latex gloves out and snapped them on. She looked at the woman in front of her. "And I need the shoes and a DNA smaple of every person that's walked in on the scene. Looks like there's some blood pools that may have been disturbed, and I need to rule people out."

[identity profile] iluvroadrunner6.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Cassavelli took a deep breath, trying to process all of that and make sure she didn't miss anything before speaking, "Our DNA's in the system already, but shoes we can do. Now, if I know Montevido, he wasn't about to take this lying down, so my personal opinion is it's more likely that there's foul play involved. As for Flack--" A mischevious grin crossed her face and she turned to the other man, "--if he causes to much trouble we could always put in a phone call to Daddy. Right, Flack?"

"Leave my father out of this, Cassavelli," Flack replied, shooting her a look, "Just because he's your boss doesn't mean you can use him to mess with my head."

"Aye, aye, Baby Flack," she replied, giving him a mock salute, and Flack just shooting her a glare.

[identity profile] afteriwake.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Christina looked confused for a second. "Danny told me your father was retired or something. How can he be their boss?" She wasn't sure about all the details, but from what she'd heard from Danny was that Flack and his father might not have gotten along well. She wasn't sure about that, though.

She shook her head. "Explain that to me while you unlock the Tahoe so I can grab the bags for the shoes and a spare kit."
