Dean/Lois - Come With Me

Fandom: Supernatural/Smallville
Title: Come With Me
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iluvroadrunner6
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Dean Winchester/Lois Lane
[livejournal.com profile] xoverland Challenge: Travel’s Hill
Content Warning: Spoilers for the end of Season 5 of Supernatural.
Summary: In which Dean has a question for Lois.
Author’s Note: I know, I fail with keeping Supernatural out of it. But Lois wouldn’t shut up. Related to this that I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] smokeandsong a while back, and there will be something else with this that goes with the longer challenge, but I’m doing drabbles specifically tonight.
Disclaimer: I don’t own. They belong to the CW. I’m just borrowing and will put everything back where I found it.

“If I asked you to leave, would you come with me?”

It’s a question he doesn’t expect her to answer. He expects her to distract him, kiss him, anything but give him an answer. It’s been six months since Sam jumped into the pit, and Dean has been here, in one place, trying to be normal and happy, and while he’s succeeding, most of the time, there’s still a part of him that wants to just drive. He wants to leave and be invisible for a while, but he doesn’t want to do it alone. He wants her to come with him.

Lois props herself up on one elbow, hair tangled and in disarray around her shoulders, but she’s gorgeous this way. No tough guard, no attitude, just … Lois. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t prone to the attitude every now and then.

“Are you serious?” she raises an eyebrow at him, and he just looks back up at her, his face not giving away anything. She watches him for a moment, before her eyes widen. “You’re actually serious.”

“I’m not really good at sitting still, Lo,” he sighs softly, rolling onto his side so that he’s eye level with her. “But I don’t want to go out there alone.”

“I thought you were done hunting.” It’s what he promised her when he showed up on her front steps all those months ago, and he knows that she’s right. He did promise her he was done hunting. And he intends to keep that promise to the best of his ability.

“I am,” he sighs. “I … I just want to drive.”

She watches his face for a moment, and he wonders what she’s thinking. Wonders if this is what screws the good thing he finally has going. He’s been fooling himself into believing that this is for good for so long, that he doesn’t know how to fix it. Then she shifts, pushing him back into his back as she straddles his waist and leans in to kiss him. He doesn’t fight her, his hands moving to her hips to steady her. He leans into the kiss, the question falling to the back of his mind for a moment until she pulls back and lets me whisper against his lips.

“Let me think about it?”

He nods, and lets out a slow breath. It’s better than a no. It’s not a yes, but it’s not a no either. He could handle a maybe. She leans in to kiss him again, and he pushes up to deepen the kiss, before rolling them over, feeling her giggle against his lips. It’s probably the closest thing to perfect he’s ever had, and he’s not looking to screw it up. He’s happy.

He’s forgotten out good that can feel.
