“Detective Flack! Care to comment on Harry Wallace’s sudden trip out of town? Isn’t he the suspect in the murder of Susan Salvatore?”

Flack groaned at the sound of the familiar voice behind him, and turned to look at her with a bit of a glare. They were standing on the steps outside of the precinct, and this was not where he wanted to get into it with her about this. “You know I can’t comment on an open investigation, Lane.”

“Oh, c’mon, Detective,” she grinned as she followed him into the precinct. “Just a little bitty sound bite that I can slip into an article and give the public of this fair city peace of mind?”

Flack turned into the nearest interrogation room, and she followed him, just slipping in before he shut the door behind him. He gave her another look, his hand staying braced against the door. “No comment, Lo.”

“I figured as much,” she said with a grin, before pushing up on her toes to kiss him. “I just wanted to see you.”

He smirked a bit into the kiss, one hand coming up to cup the side of her face. He knew they didn’t have a lot of time, so he kept the kiss short, before pulling back brushing his thumb against her cheekbone. “You don’t have to fake a story just to see me, you know?”

“Who said the story was fake? I’m about to go bug your boss for a quote, but I wanted to see you first.” She grinned, pushing up and giving him another quick kiss on the lips. “I’ll see you at home.”

He chuckled, shaking his head as she walked out the door. “Don’t give Mac too hard a time.”
