deaniebtvs. Part of my Pay Your Dues series. I know you asked for Leverage, specifically, but I also know you like this series, so I figured that if I focused on the Eliot/Sophie aspect it should work. This is also a little AU from the way the season finale happened, but I started writing the series before we got all the details. Also, this future fic for parts I haven’t written yet, but I do plan on filling them in eventually.
Disclaimer: I don’t own. They belong to Dean Devlin. I’m just borrowing and will put everything back where I found it.
Sophie had always detested the CIA
They were cruel, selfish people who didn’t seem to give a damn for anything but their own gain. Not that she had encountered many CIA agents in her time, but most clandestine societies had a way of getting under her skin. All the secrets, all the violence—it wasn’t her cup of tea. Now she was forced to work with them, and while she didn’t like it, she knew she had to. It was the only way to get Eliot back.
Annie had screwed up. She had gotten them caught, and now Eliot was left behind to pay the price. Sophie was going to get him back, but that didn’t mean that she was going to be happy about what she had to do. And she wasn’t all that thrilled about having to work with Annie either. But now the battle had passed, the smoke cleared, and to the victor went the spoils.
Mordham and his men were keeping him in a back room, blindfolded and tied up like some kind of animal. Her heels clicked on the cement as she made her way closer, and she could see the way his head picked at the sound. “Eliot?” she said softly. “Sweetie?”
His head tipped, turning towards her and straining against the bonds. “Soph?”
“Easy, easy,” she said softly. “I’ve got you.” She pushed the blindfold up first, watching his eyes blink then adjust to the light, then look up at her. There was more concern than anything, as if she had gotten stupid and in over her head trying to find him, and she just smiled, brushing a hand against the side of his face. “It’s over.”
She moved to untie him, letting the ropes fall to her sides as his hands landed on her hips. “You guys should have just left me here. This guy is dangerous, if he gets away—”
“Eliot,” she said gently, crouching down in front of him. “What have I told you about me and rescues?”
There was another pair of heels behind them, and they both turned to look. Annie was smirking in the doorway, arms crossed in front of her chest. Eliot looked confused for a moment, before looking back at Sophie. “Joan?”
“Believe you me, she wasn’t happy about it, but she came through. Annie did a lot of … creative negotiating.”
Eliot’s eyebrows went a bit at that. “Not bad, new girl.”
She grinned a little at that. “I learned from the best.” She moved to help him up and let him lean on both of them to get him out. “C’mon. Let’s get you home.”

When she came back from locking the door, Eliot was bundled up on her couch. There was a quick trip to the hospital to get him checked out, but now he was bandaged, cleaned up, and warm against her. She wasn’t going to tell him that she had been scared, wasn’t going to mention that she didn’t know what they all would do without him. She was just happy he was home.
She slid onto the couch next to him, sliding her arms around him as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. “You alright?”
“I’m fine,” he whispered softly as he curled into her a little more. She knew it was probably more for her benefit than for his, but she couldn’t help herself from thinking that for a moment that he needed that closeness from her, after being held hostage for so long. And maybe she needed it too, just to rein in the panic and fear that she had been feeling over the past few days. She melted into him, taking the closeness for what it was, and not intending to move anytime soon. He soaked in the silence with her, before murmuring against her temple. “Bedroom would probably be more comfortable.”
She paused for a moment, before turning to face him again and pushing up to kiss him. “Here,” she replied. “Here is good.”
