Alec/Buffy - After You
Fandom: Dark Angel/Buffyverse
Title: After You
Author:
iluvroadrunner6
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Alec McDowell/Buffy Summers
xoverland Challenge: Deadzone
Content Warning: N/A
Summary: In which Alec and Buffy are stuck in a cage.
Author’s Note: I had a bit of an itch for these two. Don’t ask me why.
Disclaimer: I don’t own. They belong to FOX and the WB. I’m just borrowing and will put everything back where I found it.
Alec hadn’t been having the best day. Familiars and transgenics had this thing with not getting along that tended to go pretty violently, and a civilian getting caught up on the mix was never a good thing. And now he was in a cage.
Cages sucked.
To add insult to industry, he was handcuffed to the cage. He wasn’t sure what these White-ettes were looking to accomplish, but it was a little redundant. Thankfully, it was only one hand that he had handcuffed, because the other end of the bracelet was locked onto the wrist of the civilian who tried to help him.
“Not that I don’t appreciate the effort on your part, but don’t you think that running into a fight with guys who toss people around like rag dolls was a little risky on your part?”
The tiny blond—the cute tiny blond, he should say, leaned forward a bit and peered down at the people below them. “I’ve seen scarier. They don’t even have any horns.” She paused, before looking back at him. “Begs the question what they want with you, though.”
Alec sighed, before shifting a bit so that his back was to her, and pushing down the collar of his shirt, revealing his bar code. “They don’t like my kind very much. And their leader has a particular hate on for me. They built us, so they figure it’s their responsibility to clean us up.”
“I see. I think.”
“You know, they’re not going to hesitate to kill you when they finally get the go ahead to kill me.”
She shrugged. “Wouldn’t be the first time.”
“First time someone’s tried to kill you, or first time you’ve died?”
“Both,” she quipped. “In fact, I’ve died twice.”
“Really.” Alec thought that one over for a minute. “I admire your resilience.”
“Thank you,” she said with a bright smile, before leaning back against the bars again. “But I take it you don’t want to make this death number three for me?”
“Not really no. Would put a real cramp in my day.” He paused for a moment, thinking this over, before tipping his head towards her ponytail. “You wouldn’t happen to use bobby pins in that cute little hairdo of yours, would you?”
She paused to think for a minute, before reaching back and pulling one out, part of her bangs falling into her face. She handed it over to him, and he grinned before going to work on the handcuffs. “I’m Alec, by the way.”
“Buffy,” she nodded. “If we make it out of this, think I can get the longer story?”
“Absolutely,” he replied, letting the cuffs fall away, before moving towards the lock on the cage. “I’ll take the ones on the left, you grab the guys on the right?”
“After you.”
