“Dude. You really can’t be here right now.”

Adam loved his cousin. He really did. Ed could be a little weird with his whole ghost obsession, and his TV show was … palatable, but Ed was a good guy. Most of the time they got along pretty well. This, however, was not one of those times. Not when he and his friend Harry were trying to get information on a case.

“Hey, Maggie.”

It was nice to see Maggie though. Maggie just returned his greeting with a smile before Ed started on the hard sell again. “Look, dude, we don’t need a whole lot of information. Just—how they died, maybe some crime scene photos if you can.”

“Yeah, but I can’t!” Adam sighed. “There’s chain of evidence. If-if I show you the photos, I could lose my job.”

“This is so much bigger than jobs, Adam. This is your chance to be a part of the Ghostfacers legacy.”

Adam looked up at him in disbelief. “You think this person was murdered by a ghost?”

“It has been known to happen!” Ed replied, frustrated, as he tried to fight past Adam. “We, actually, lost a member of our team two years ago to a particularly nasty ghost. He then came from beyond the veil to save us in our hour of need.”

“ …. Right. Sure you did.”

Now Ed was just starting to look frustrated. “Come on, man. We need this information, and we don’t know any other way to get it.”

“I can’t release the details of an ongoing investigation. I’ll get fired!”

“Is there a problem here, Adam?”

Adam froze when he heard the voice of his boss behind him, spinning around and seeing Mac there, holding a file in his hand as well as some evidence. “S-Sorry, sir, I didn’t, uh—I didn’t see you there. We were uh—these are my cousins, Ed and Maggie, and they’re-they’re friend Harry, and they were just—”

“We’re making a reality TV show, sir,” Ed replied, draping an arm around Adam’s shoulders. “We are trying to see how easy it is to infiltrate the various areas of law enforcement, and I have to say, sir, you’ve got a good man here with my cousin. He refused to give us any information, no matter how hard we pressed, or how we extorted him with our strong familial bond.”

Adam was ready to slug Ed. He didn’t believe for a second that Mac was going to buy it, but he didn’t know what else he could do but wait and see what his boss said. Mac’s eyes drifted from Adam, to Ed, and to the other two standing next to him, and then shook his head before heading back towards his office.

“Just get back to work, Adam.”

“Y-yes, sir,” Adam sighed softly. He turned around to face them again, and Ed gave him a smile.

“So—can we see the photos?”

Adam just shook his head and walked away.
