SPN Spoilers
I'm sure if you like spoilerness, you've probably checked this out already, but yeah -- I didn't feel like ranting on that post because -- it turned a bit ranty, and I'm probably going to offend someone, but that wasn't my intention. I'm just pissed. And this is my journal, so I don't feel like playing nice right now.
Gone, Bela, Gone! According to Matt Mitovich, Bela will not be back for Season 4 due to "budget constraints and fan reaction."
*kicks and throws things*
*grumbles* Stupid fans (not all of you, just the ones that ranted loud enough). I liked her. I would have liked to see her stick around. They're getting rid of all my favorite antagonists this season! (Gordon, Hendrickson -- WTF?!?!?!) I mean, I get that she had her problems but no character is perfect, and I get that not everyone is going to love every character, but DAMNIT. Kripke can't edit out all of his recurring females just because every time fandom gets up in arms.
I mean, don't get me wrong -- I appreciate that he listens to the fans. But I'm starting to feel like he listens to them too much. Which sucks for people who like characters like Bela, or Jo, are in the minority, and never get to see the characters they love again.
The way he writes her out better be seriously kickass. That's all I'm gonna say.

Ruby isn't going anywhere is she?
Because I'd have to flip a bitch if she was.

They were saying that they were going to hate her before the first episode with her even aired. I mean, how fair is that.

This really sucks.

AGREED. I'm getting annoyed at this season for this exact reason. I've seen lots of shows die by the wayside the moment the fans get exactly what they want. Sometimes frustrating fans is better in the long run.

Part of me is secretly hoping that Kripke doesn't kill Bela off outright, so that there's at least a small glimmer of hope that she could come back in the future -- when the budget isn't being cut, and the fans have someone they can hate more -- but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

the angry godsthe angry fans.I already had problems with the writing, pacing, and a half dozen other things this season, but this? This just almost makes me want to turn the show off for good. Jesus, you can't like anyone on this show, because if the majority of the rest of the fans don't, it's sayo-fucking-nara. I hated Jo at first, but she started to get interesting later then ... ooops GOOD BYE!
To all of the people who were bitching about the Winchesters being written as "stupid" whenever Bela was around? How are they not being just as stupid (or more so) whenever they trust what comes out of Ruby's mouth? Just cause she says she's there to help doesn't make it so. Sorry if you like Ruby, I don't. I was apathetic to her when she first appeared but "Jus In Bello" did her character in for me. The sooner Kripke finishes her storyline and puts a bullet in her brain, the better.

i'll be posting something about this at my LJ too....

I was ambivalent to Jo. But I liked the character's role as she turned out to be. I agree that she didn't work as a love interest, but I liked the boys having the little sister dynamic for a while. It was interesting to see them play off of, and get frustrated with, and let evil!Sam play with. The fact that she isn't going to be around anymore, even if it's just to make a quick one episode appearance, makes me kinda sad.
Well, I'm sorry -- the boys may be "sharp tacks," but they're not omnipotent. People are going to show them up eventually. They know their territory, but they've never encountered someone like Bela before that we've seen. Plus, she's a hot lady. We all know that boys upstairs brains don't exactly function at full capacity when there's a pretty girl around, no matter how sharp/paranoid/smart they may be. I happened to like the fact that Bela showed them up when she was around, and not in a way that was going to really get them killed. I mean, so she stole some stuff, and the boys didn't exactly come out on top for once. It was nice to see someone who wasn't supernatural mess around with the boys for a change. At least in my opinion.
As for Ruby -- I don't hate her, but I'm not her biggest fan either. I do think that the boys have been throwing their loyalty around a little too easily with her, and I'd rather things go back to Dean ranting about how they really shouldn't be trusting a demon, rather than worrying about the fact that he's going to turn into her. Personally, I think she knows how to play them better than they think, and I kind of want to know what she's up to at this point. But again, that's just me.

And I don't disagree. Which is one of the reasons I thought the character was a breath of fresh air on this series. Someone who isn't here nor there, someone who is self-serving but not because they're particularly evil, it was a nice change from the run of the mill good guy humans and bad guy humans. She was an inbetween, something we didn't get to this degree before.

Preaching to the choir there. To an extent, it's believable. But after "Red Sky", they should've been more wary of her. Especially whenever she showed up under the guise of "helping" them. What's the saying? "Beware Greeks bearing gifts"? If they'd have been more on their toes after DALD, we'll probably never know. However, these are not CHARACTER flaws as much as they are WRITING flaws. You can't blame the characters for the way they're written, they just do what the writers tell them.

I don't trust anything she's said to them. Especially not her story about being a teenaged human witch in a past life. That doesn't wash with me. I'm of the firm belief that's another lie, one aimed specifically to fuck with Dean's headspace. More than anything, it's what she hasn't said to them than what she has. Would've been nice for her to give them a heads up about Lilith long before "Jus In Bello". That's just my own personal ...

Gordon's death I got? Because it mimics whats going to happen to Dean, he'll become what he hunts, but Bela just seems kind of senseless to me. I mean, my Dean wants to kill her but when it comes down to like actually pulling the trigger on her? I think you and I both know he couldn't do it. (He can't murder people.)
I'm annoyed with them. I'm glad Kripke listens, but dude... not every female can me offed because the fans are insane about every chick that comes near the boys. I only think Ellen's safe because she's older. ARGH. Fandom is spastic yo.

I'd like to think that if Jo had worked as a love interest, like she was intended to be (I know you ship Dean/Jo, but I don't really see it, so this is my take on it), the fans would be a lot less hostile to anything with boobs that comes on the show, or if Kripke had slid her into the little-sister-I'm-going-to-be-more-trouble-than-I'm-worth role to begin with, maybe things would have been easier. But the thing is, Ruby and Bela both lived up to what they were supposed to be -- antagonists. So why all the bitching that's been going down has happened is beyond me.
I don't think he's going to kill her outright (I hope, anyway). Last I heard there was a huge cliffhanger in Bela's future, but seeing as she's gone now, that could change.
Oh, well -- if Bela's leaving the show, my Bela is probably going to run off and do something with one of the other fandoms she's wiggled her way into. Supernatural doesn't want her, she'll run off and find someone who does.
What she really wants to do is run off and join Torchwood, but she doesn't have anyone to play that with.no subject
Well, they knew about Lilith long before "Jus en Bello," they just didn't know who specifically they were dealing with. And they still don't know. Ruby's kind of turning into the CIA, where she's giving out information as they need to know it, and eventually, one of them is going to get pissed off enough that they'll do something to get the whole story. But then again, if Ruby told them the whole story right away -- it kind of would take all the fun out of watching it for me.
Especially whenever she showed up under the guise of "helping" them.
Here's the thing -- I curious to know how she found out about the Colt to begin with -- as in where it was, and who had it. Because firstly, I got the impression that it had been pretty much a legend before the boys found out about it, and secondly, they never used it around her. So either she has some really good demonic sources that she's not selling it to (because she's already pretty much established that that wasn't her intention), or she's gone snooping around in the boys stuff before?
Also, They had no reason to believe she was going to go after the Colt, because as far as they were concerned, she didn't know they had it, and really -- what did they have that she could possibly want? Usually when she wanted something from them, it was man/brainpower. And Dean did ask her about the strings -- maybe he did buy the fact that she was just doing it to be even with Bobby a bit too quickly, but she had made it clear to them before that she didn't like being in anyone's debt. She was exhibiting Typical Bela Behavior, and Dean really didn't have any real reason to question that.
Besides, Bela Talbot: Safe cracker? When they lifted the hand of glory in 306, Dean was the one who did the heavy lifting. So precedent showed that having her in the same motel wasn't going to be an issue, and while the boys should have been more careful -- they weren't and shit happens. *points to her hindsight icon*
Maybe that was a little too harsh on the boys, but most of everything Bela's ever done to them she's made up for. Frankly, I'm more interested in the why she wants the Colt if she's not going to sell it, more than whining about how she got it.

And yeah, I hate Bela because I'm supposed to. That's how she's written. I don't hate her character, I hate her. I dunno, I hope she and Dean come to an understanding. I can see if they killed her, or left it that it was just an understood that she died, but I don't want it to be pointless, I want it to like, mean something.
Jo's last words were epic and they definitely said a lot about both her and Dean, I want Bela's going away party to be like that too. I want it to be worth the season.

I want it to be worth it too. If he just throws her away, I'm gonna be pissed.
