dragonessasmith in response to the Five Pairings Meme. I wrote her request for Flack and her favorite was the pairing with Megan Reeves. I reworked the original dialouge a bit, but the base moment that I used is still in there. This was also a lot of fun to write. Flack and Megan get along quite well together.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of CSI:NY or Numb3rs. They are owned by CBS.
“Captain Gerrard,” Megan sighed as she stood in front of the man’s desk, speaking as loudly as she could over the noise of the bullpen, “I’m going to need all the files on the Brookman case, as well as any evidence collected.”
“Its yours,” Gerrard grumbled, “It’s not like we have a choice.”
Megan let the second half of his statement slip by her before continuing, her voice containing just as much professionalism as it had before. Gerrard handed the file to her, and she took if from him, “I’m also going to need to speak on the homicide detective that was on the scene.”
Gerrard looked at her for a second, before taking the folder back, checking the name, and then heading out to the doorframe of his office. “Hey Flack!”
Megan froze, and suddenly was grateful that she wasn’t facing the door. She was wishing that there was someone else with the name Flack, or he was referring to his father maybe. Anyone but—
“You wanted me, Cap’?” Don’s voice echoed through the room and she took a deep breath before turning around.
“This is Agent Reeves from FBI’s homicide division in LA,” Gerrard explained, and Don extended his hand to Megan with a smile, “Agent Reeves, this is Detective Don Flack. He’ll fill you in on anything you need to know.”
“Nice to meet you,” Don smirked. Megan wanted to smack it off his face.
“Same to you,” she replied coolly.
“Now, I hope you don’t take any personal offense to this Agent Reeves,” Gerrard sighed, “But would you please get your federal ass out of my office; I’ve got work to do.”
Megan sighed before stepping out and hearing Gerrard slam the door behind her. “Only when you ask so nicely,” she sighed sarcastically.
“Well—” Don began, “You wanted to talk about the Brookman case.”
“Yeah,” Megan replied, glancing around the crowded room, “Any place a little quieter where we could talk?”
“Sure thing,” Don replied, jerking his head in a direction, “Let’s take a walk.”

Megan blinked at the scene of the diner around her. This was not what she had had in mind. She started to say something to Don, but he had already headed to a table. She just shook her head before sliding into the booth.
“So—been a while,” he said as Megan sat down across from him.
“Yes, it has,” she replied, “But this is strictly business, Don.”
“Never said it wasn’t,” he replied.
“Oh, no?” Megan frowned.
“Really,” Don laughed with a smile, “I’m all business.”
“Then why did you invite me to a diner to discuss a case?” Megan frowned.
“You were the one who said you wanted to go somewhere quieter,” he pointed out.
“Yes, well, I was thinking an interrogation or meeting room, not the diner down the street from the precinct,” she sighed.
“I like to eat,” he laughed, “C’mon, Megs, you know I like my food.”
He watched her eyes flicker at the nickname. It was gone with a blink but there was no denying that it was there. “Don’t make this personal, Flack,” she said.
“I’m not making this personal,” he grinned, “I’m just saying, it’s not like we ended on bad terms or anything like that right?”
“Right,” Megan nodded, “It’s not that.”
“I’m just keeping things friendly,” he said, resting his elbows on the table and looking her in the eye. The table wasn’t that wide, and she realized that she was all too aware of every move he was making, and tried to ignore the slight tingle at the base of her spine.
“I’m not here to be friendly, Don,” she sighed, “I’m just here to get some information that might be pertinent to our case. And apparently I have to do that through you, who insist on playing catch up.”
“Easy, Reeves,” he said, holding up his hands in self defense, “You’re an old friend I haven’t seen in a while. Sorry, if I don’t want to jump right into business right away. I want to know how you’re doing.”
“I’m fine,” Megan said, “I’m working with a good team in LA. I’m seeing someone.”
“Are you really?” he grinned, “Nice guy?”
Megan nodded, “How ‘bout I make you a deal? You fill me in on the case now, I’ll grab a drink with you after this is all over to really catch up.”
“I like that deal,” he nodded, “But can we eat while we discuss the case?”
“You’re still completely focused on your stomach,” Megan shook her head with a laugh.
“Would you expect anything less?” he said, an innocent look on his face.
That only made her laugh harder, before shaking her head, “Fine. Just so long as you fill me in on the case.”
“Not a problem,” Don leaned back, a smirk on his lips, “What do you need to know?”
“Well, let’s take it from the top,” Megan began, flipping open the file, “You arrived on the scene. What happened?”
