gin200168! She requested a Flack/Stella fic, and gave me the quote from "Stuck on You" as a prompt. Set post-season 2.

Flack was usually the first person to admit he had crazy skeletons in his closet. Some of his choices in women had been—questionable—and that was putting nicely. There were his more—wild—preferences, which had been fun, and albeit rather brief. There was his schedule to deal with, and theirs, so they generally didn’t sit around and wait for him to make the time for them.
Then there were the ones that were just completely crazy. They also generally didn’t last very long, and usually wound up with him being threatened with or sustaining some kind of bodily harm. Occasionally both. Those usually ended with something being thrown at him. Usually his head. And they usually missed and caused no major damage, but there was that one time where his ex chucked a curling iron at him, and missed, hitting his partner at the time.
And then—there were the ones that were both. Using the wild lure to make him think this was going to be a quick and easy relationship and then throwing in the crazy just when he thought he was safe, and when it was too late for him to get out. Those were the worst. Because he would thoroughly enjoy that relationship—yet entirely fear the end result. Those were the relationships always tended to end the worst, usually with some form of kicking and punching—and always yelling.
A lot of yelling.
There were nice, normal relationships sprinkled in here and there, and while he knew it would probably be good for him to have a steady, lasting relationship, they tended not to hold his interest. He’d rather deal with the quick wild things more than anything else. They lasted long enough for him not to get bored, and generally ended on a good note. They were fun and interesting, and he didn’t have to worry about bodily harm. And that tended to be the way he stuck to things.
Until Stella, that is.
Stella had all the makings of one of a fantastic quick friendly fling. They already had a great relationship; therefore taking it to the next level was not hard, and it was something they both needed. They needed someone to hold them together for a little while, and when they turned to each other, it just made sense. It was hot, it was fun, and it seemed to be just what they needed.
The problem was when he started to get sucked in. The longer they were together, the more he wanted it to last, and once it hit the point where he wanted to make this last, things started to scare him. He didn’t want to scare her off, because he was pretty sure that that would kill him, but he didn’t really like the idea of keeping this from her. As far as he knew, she was still seeing this as a more informal arrangement. But he didn’t want to be the one to tell her.
Because while the relationship had seemed to only be on the wild side—there were moments where it treaded the line of crazy. He had no doubt that if he decided to make something serious out of this, and it ended badly, Stella wouldn’t hesitate to beat the shit out of him. He suspected that Stella would probably definitely fall into that ‘both’ category, but she was more dangerous than most because it was probably a lurking crazy. One that you don’t realize that she realize is crazy until you screw it up.
And he really didn’t want to die.
He knew he was probably wrong, and if things went badly between him and Stella, he would probably make out of it unscathed and in one piece. But the scars of too many crazy relationships had him worried. He’d been lucky enough that he and Stella had gotten into an argument here and there, but she’d never really gone off on him. He’d seen Stella go off on suspects. He’d seen Stella go off on Mac. He didn’t want to have that pointed in his direction. She was kinda scary.
“Hey,” she said, smacking him in the shoulder, bringing him back to the room, “What are you thinking?”
“Nothin,” he replied, rolling over to face her.
“Liar,” she stated.
“Well, did I miss something?” he asked, and she shook her head.
“No,” she replied, shifting so that she was straddling his waist, leaning over him, “But you were about to.”
“Good thing you got my attention then,” he murmured as she leaned in to kiss him.
Their relationship was easy. Their relationship was comfortable. More importantly, she seemed comfortable with where they were right now. He didn’t want to rock the boat by asking things to change, or push her into something that she might not be ready for. So he would just leave things at the status quo, and be happy with what he had.
After all, he could always hope for things to be looking up.
