Mac/Stella - Peace and Quiet
Fandom: CSI:NY
Title: Peace and Quiet
Author:
iluvroadrunner6
Rating: FRT
Pairing: Mac Taylor/Stella Bonasera
15pairings Prompt: I love the rainy nights
Content Warning: N/A
Summary: Mac and Stella go on vacation.
Author's Note: Also used the prompt Mac Taylor / Stella Bonasera / vacation. This is really short. Almost drabble length. But there really wasn't far for this one to go. And Mac/Stella is one of those ones I have a hard time getting down on paper.
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of CSI:NY. They're owned by CBS.
Mac knew that Stella was going to be disappointed when he woke up and heard the pattering of rain against the walls of the house. He knew that she was going to be upset over that fact that she had actually convinced him to take the time off, leave the city and go away with her, only to have the weather be like this.
He also realized as he started to become more aware of his surroundings, that her side of the bed was cold. He opened his eyes to find that it was still dark out. They had probably only been asleep for a few hours. He peered into the darkness, before his eyes landed on a silhouette against the window of their room.
He quietly got up and made his way over to the window. When he reached her, he wrapped his arms behind her slowly, pulling her against him. “What are you doing over here?” he asked, as she turned and gave him a smile.
“Just watching the rain,” she replied, before turning her eyes back to the window.
They dropped into silence, just enjoying each other’s company, watching the rivulets of water run down the window panes and onto the window sill. There wasn’t very much noise out here, just the patter of the rain on the ground, and the roar of an occasional car driving by.
“I love the rainy nights,” she said, “The way it fogs up the windows and makes everything seem like it’s glowing.”
“Mmm,” he nodded, tightening his hold on her so that she was resting against him, “Does mean we won’t be going outside for a while.”
“Who needs to go outside?” she replied.
“Well, we might want to later,” he replied, “To get some activity.”
She noticed that he seemed somewhat uncomfortable, and she turned to face him, slipping her arms around his waist, “Why are you so antsy?”
“I’m not antsy, Stella,” he replied.
“Yes, you are,” she said, her fingers starting to trace circles on the small of his back, “What are you thinking?”
He stared over her shoulder, out the window, focusing on the round glowing street lights outside the fogged windows. She waited patiently in the silence before speaking up again.
“Mac?”
“It’s too quiet,” he admitted somewhat sheepishly, and Stella laughed.
“That’s the point of coming out here. To get some peace and quiet.”
“I know that,” Mac replied, giving her a smile, “But it’s just—strange.”
Stella gave him a small smile before pulling herself closer, resting her head against his shoulder.
“It is nice though,” she replied, and he looked down at her with a smile, nodding in affirmation.
“It is nice.”
