“Very nice, Mr. Delko,” Erica said as they sat down at the table in the restaurant, “You sure this is in your price range?”

“Very nice, Ms. Sikes,” he shook his head with a grin, “Pay him a compliment than ask him if he can pay.” She laughed softly before giving him a small smile.

“Sorry,” she said, “Just wanted to know. This is a nice place; it’s pricey. If we are running out on the check you should have told me sooner. I didn’t wear my running shoes.”

“You don’t have to worry about that,” he replied, “We’re good.” He watched as she settled back in her seat with a smile.

“So—we’re on an actual date,” she said, “Who woulda thunk.”

“Tell me about it,” Eric smirked, “Every time we seem to manage to find time off—” The sound of a ringing phone split the air, and his smirk widened into a grin, “—that happens.”

Erica rolled her eyes as she pulled out her phone, then cringed, “I really need to take this. It’ll just be a minute.”

“Go ahead,” Eric replied.

“You sure?”

“Erica, go!” he said, and she laughed, before getting up and heading towards the bathroom. Just as she slipped out of view, Eric locked eyes with the woman who had been hidden behind her. He watched as a sly smile crossed her face and she got up to head over to him.

“You and Erica Sikes?” Natalia Boa Vista said as she sat down across from him.

“Me and Erica Sikes,” he stated, and she shook her head.

“How the hell did that happen?” she said and he laughed.

“What, you don’t think it would work between me and Erica?” he asked.

“I think—or rather, I thought—that you two would probably kill each other before actually working in a relationship,” Natalia replied.

“We still might,” Eric commented, “But we’re working on that.”

“Still you didn’t answer my question,” she replied, “How did that happen?”

“I really don’t think that’s any of your business,” he replied, leaning forward on the table, glancing over at the empty seat at her table. “Who you here with?”

“Business dinner. Don’t change the subject.”

“Why are you so interested? I’m interested in Erica, she’s interested in me; we’re dating.”

“Yeah, but this is Erica Sikes, we’re talking about.”

“I know.”

“She’s—not like other girls.”

“What are you saying? She’s a little—”

“Crazy?” Natalia offered before he could finish.

“I was going to say driven, but crazy could be another word for it,” he laughed, “But don’t you know I like crazy?”

Natalia raised her eyebrow in his direction, “Maybe that’s why we didn’t work out. I didn’t fit your crazy fetish.”

He started to open his mouth, and she silenced him with a look, “Don’t even think about it.”

“How do you know what I was going to say?” he protested.

“I just know, alright,” she said with laugh, before seeing a man come out of the corner, and return to her table, “Enjoy your dinner. I’ll see you tomorrow, Delko.”

“See you tomorrow, Natalia.”

“That was a really nice dinner,” Erica nodded as they walked back to the parking lot.

“It was,” he agreed.

“You talk to Boa Vista?” she asked. He did a double take at the question and she grinned, “I saw her sitting at the table behind us when we came in. I figured that while I was on the phone, you two were probably having a nice discussion.”

“She was curious about our relationship,” he replied, “She didn’t see it coming.”

“Would anyone have seen this coming?” Erica asked, and he shrugged.

“Calleigh might of.”

“Really?”

“Maybe.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Calleigh—just knows things,” Eric replied, and Erica nodded when they finally reached his car. They separated as he went over to the driver’s side and unlocked the door, and he noticed a brief look of nervousness cross her face. Once they climbed into the car it was gone, but he looked at her in concern. “You alright?”

She blinked at him for a second, but with a shake of her head it was gone, “Nothing. I’m fine.”

“You sure?”

“I’m fine,” she replied, “It’s just been a long day. Don’t get me wrong, I had a good time tonight, but I’m ready to go home.”

Eric wasn’t necessarily convinced, but he wasn’t about to question her on it, “Home it is.” He drove her home, and as he walked her to the front door, he spoke up again, “We’re doing pretty well at this going slow thing.”

“Yes, we are,” she grinned, “Another who woulda thunk.”

He nodded, wrapping a lazy arm around her waist, and pulling her in closer. “I should probably say good night.”

“You probably should,” she agreed, and he leaned in and gave her a soft kiss.

“Good night, then,” he replied, before turning and heading back to his car.

“You’re gonna do that and just leave me here!?” she laughed, and he turned to face her with a grin.

“Hey, I’m being good,” he said, “I’m gonna hold out until it’s decided that we’re not going slow anymore.”

“You made it this far already, you’re not going to quit now,” she said, and he nodded.

“Something like that.”

She rolled her eyes before, turning back to her front door, “Goodnight, Eric.”

“Goodnight.”
