Drive-by Random *cuz she's totally procrastinating*

Anyone with iPods ever had an issue where the iPod would refuse to play songs purchased on iTunes? Like it sits on the song for a second, and then just skips right to the next one?

Because that's what mine's doing.

Keep in mind, that I also have a very old-school mini, so age might be a factor, but -- anyone?

Mine did that for a while, but it was one of a looong list of problems. I also have an old-school one, 4th Gen 20G that they don't even make anymore.

Your hard drive might be dying :( I sent mine to iresq.com and they diagnosed problems for me for a small fee. But that generation of ipod is just chock-full of issues.

No! *sigh* Well -- it lasted longer than it was supposed to. I think I've had mine for almost four years now.

Most of my friends had to replace them after two.

It does that sometime on my old iPod. Try resetting it when that happens. Usually it fixes teh problem. If not, the the other person might be right about the hard drive.

Ah! That worked!

Thanks!

Mine's done that before. I don't know how to fix it.

Apparently that thing with resetting it works. All I did was restart it and they started working again.

*shrugs*

Good to know. It's not doing it now, thankfully.

Good think you were able to fix it!! I'm so attached to mine, it feels so lonely when it's not there to keep me sane...

iPods use a hard drive-like technology. Sometimes it freezes up and because the amount of RAM-like technology used, it skips through songs, because it's trying to find enough free memory to actually play them. A hard rest - holding down the menu and center button - will usually resolve that issue. (I saw somebody else helped you, but I just thought I'd explain why since it's what I do at work everyday, hehe.)

When I changed my account at iTunes, all the old music I downloaded stopped working on iTunes and on my iPod. Both players would do exactly that.

My problem was that they were still working on iTunes though. It wasn't both of them it was just the iPod.

What [livejournal.com profile] muse_kae suggested actually did work, so I'm not having that problem anymore. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Oooh.

I gotcha. That makes sense -- kind of.

At least you figured it out!
