“Hey, Messer.”

Danny looked up from the paperwork he was working on and found Peluso standing in the doorway of his office. Danny frowned slightly in confusion, before responding.

“What can I do for ya, Peluso?”

“Wanna grab a beer?”

Danny’s confusion only worsened, “Do I wanna what?”

“Do you wanna grab a beer?” Peluso replied, annoyed. A grin started to stretch across Danny’s face.

“You and Montana get into a fight again?”

“Do you want the beer or not?”

“Yeah, sure,” Danny nodded, “I’ll take that beer.”

“Great,” the other man nodded, “I’ll meet you at Sullivan’s.”

“Alright—I’ll see you there.”

“Can I ask you something?”

Danny smirked as he picked up his beer at the look Peluso was giving him. There was something on his face that said he and Lindsay had gotten into a fight again. Danny smirked as he took another sip of his beer.

“What’d you say this time?”

“What makes you think I said anything?” Peluso replied, “Why do you think I always start the fights?”

“Because if Lindsay had started it, you would have been ranting about what she did wrong,” Danny replied, “Since you’re all mopey and depressed, you started it.”

Peluso rolled his eyes, before taking another drink of his beer, “OK, I screwed up. But that’s not what I wanted to ask you about.”

“What did you want to talk to me about?” Danny grinned.

“How do you and Chris do it?” he asked.

“How do we do what?” he frowned.

“You fight the least out of any couple I know,” Peluso said, “I mean, you’re a cop and she’s a lawyer. By formula, you two should fight more than any other couple on the planet.”

Danny shrugged, “Our personalities just match, I guess.”

“You don’t have any strategies, or tips, you just—click?”

“‘Fraid so,” Danny nodded.

“Damn,” Peluso shook his head, as he leaned back in the seat, “It’s couples like you two that make it harder for the rest of us. You know that right?”

“Eh, c’mon,” Danny shook his head, “You and Monore don’t fight all that often.”

“We fight about everything,” Peluso sighed, “I mean, I love her, but she’s starting to pick fights with me about every little thing.”

“She wants something from you.”

“Then why doesn’t she ask for it.”

“She’s a woman,” Danny replied, “She thinks you have enough of a brain to figure it out.”

“Watch it, Messer,” Brian said giving him a look.

“Well, I’m sure she expects it, because you have a law degree, and other signs to say that you’re obviously intelligent,” Danny smirked, “But you know—I do think she forgets who she’s talking to sometime.”

“You do know that I work with your girlfriend,” Peluso began, “Daily. And I’m good enough a lawyer to persuade her to change her position on you.”

Danny grinned, “Alright, alright, I’ll back off.”

“Thank you,” Peluso said, leaning back in the booth again. He took another sip of his beer, and then looked at Danny, “You know Lindsay pretty well right?”

“I know her well enough.”

“Got any words of wisdom on dealing with her?”

Danny leaned back with a slight scoff, “You think I’m any better with her than you are?”

“You’ve got more experience with her anyway,” Peluso replied, “Seriously though—anything?”

Danny took a deep breath, “You got time?”

“I got all night,” Peluso replied.

“OK then,” Danny nodded, “I think we’re going to need another beer.”
