Summary: Danny and Lindsay try to figure out what's being kept from them.
Author's Note: Follow-up to A Latte for Your Trouble. Hee! I only have one fic left foralphabetasoup!

“You notice anything—weird—about Stella lately?”
Danny looked up at Lindsay, and he couldn’t say the look on her face was uncomfortable, but there was something bothering her. “How do you mean?”
“I don’t know,” Lindsay frowned, sighing heavily, “She just seems—different.”
“In a bad way?”
“I dunno. She seems—happier.”
“And that’s bad?”
“Not necessarily. I just don’t know why,” Lindsay sighed, “I think that might be what’s bothering me more. The fact that I don’t know why she’s happier.”
“Well—have you asked her?”
“She gave me some off the cuff answer about loving life,” Lindsay replied, crossing her arms in front of her chest, “I’m not really satisfied with that. Something’s going on.”
“Says you. Maybe she really does just love life,” Danny sighed, going back to the evidence for a minute before looking up at her again, “Although—Angell has been walking around with a look on her face like the cat who swallowed the canary.”
“She might know something,” Lindsay replied.
“Then again, it might be something completely unrelated,” Danny shrugged.
“About what?” Lindsay frowned, trying to think of something that had been going on in the labs that might warrant a gossip’s attention. Hawkes walked into the room at this point, and gave them both a smile.
“I got more of the results from the autopsy,” he began, and then he looked up at the looks on his co-worker’s faces, “But I have a feeling that wasn’t what you two were talking about.”
“You and Stella are close, right?” Danny began, and Hawkes shrugged.
“I guess you could say that.”
“You wouldn’t happen to know what’s got her on the up and up lately, do you?” Lindsay asked, giving the man an inquisitive look.
“Actually, I don’t,” Hawkes replied, “And I don’t really care to know, so long as she stays that way. Happy suits her.”
“I happen to agree,” Danny replied, “But you really don’t know?”
“I haven’t the slightest idea,” Hawkes replied, and Danny turned back to Lindsay.
“I say we go drag it out of Angell.”
“I agree,” Lindsay nodded, and they both started to head out the door, before Hawkes stopped them.
“Case now, key to Stella’s happiness later?” he replied, giving them both a look.
“Fine,” they both grumbled, turning back to the crime scene photos.

Angell was quietly sipping her latte at her desk, and looked up when Danny’s hands landed on the edge of it. She gave him a surprised look, and then tilted her head slightly to see Lindsay behind him. “What can I do for you guys? I thought you were off the clock.”
“Can we talk to you for a minute?”
“About the case?”
“Nah, somethin’ else,” Danny sighed, sitting down in one of the chairs, and Lindsay pulling up another.
“What’s up?” she asked, leaning back in her chair.
“You wouldn’t happen to know what’s up with Stella lately, do you?” Lindsay asked.
“Something up with Stella?” Angell frowned, playing dumb, “I haven’t noticed anything.”
“I guess you haven’t known her long enough to,” Lindsay nodded, before getting up and starting to walk away, but Danny’s eyes were fixated on the latte on Angell’s desk. Angell reached forward and waved her hand in front of her face before he blinked up at her.
“Something interesting in my coffee, Messer?” she asked, giving him a look.
“You know, Flack had the same cup in his hand this morning,” he said, leaning back in his chair again.
“Did he?” Angell shrugged, “Must have been a coincidence.”
“Yeah,” Danny nodded, a grin slowly crossing his face, “Must have been.”
Angell studied him for a minute, before her eyes widened, “You figured it out, didn’t you?”
“How long they been back together?”
Lindsay frowned and confusion, “Who?”
“Back together?” Angell said, leaning forward in surprise, “They were together before?”
“Who?” Lindsay asked a little louder, trying to get herself noticed.
“Long time ago—before he started working with the crimelab.”
“Really?” Angell nodded, “He’s been holding out on me. Only reason I know is because I walked in on the two of them having a ‘moment’ about a month ago. He’s been buying me lattes ever since.”
“WHO?!?!?” Lindsay said, almost shouting and the two of them turned to look at her in confusion.
“Flack and Stella,” Danny replied, simply.
“Thank you,” Lindsay sighed, starting to turn again, and then turning suddenly back to the rest of them, “Really?”
“Yup,” Angell nodded.
Lindsay nodded slowly, “Makes sense I guess. But I never would have seen that coming.”
“You guys are aware that now that you two know, I’m going to be losing my free morning latte?”
“You are aware, as a cop, that blackmail is illegal?” Danny replied with a smirk.
“It’s not blackmail,” Angell sighed before picking it up and taking a sip, “Just a little bit of fun to get a free beverage.”
“Right,” Danny nodded, the smirk widening to a grin, “I won’t say anything to Flack or Stella about my knowing.” They both turned on Lindsay who looked at them blankly for a minute before responding.
“Oh! I won’t say anything either.”
“Good,” Angell nodded, “I think they’re good for each other. They seem to make each other happy.”
“And that’s all that matters at the end of the day, isn’t it?” Danny replied, “Whether or not they’re happy?”
“Yeah,” Angell said, “That’s all that matters.”
