Lindsay glanced up to talk to Danny about her case, when she saw his eyes trained elsewhere. She followed his gaze through the glass wall, to where Sofia was talking to Hammerback. And since she knew it wasn’t Sid who was capturing Danny’s attention, it had to be the other Detective.

“Hey Messer,” Lindsay began. When Danny didn’t turn, she repeated herself, “Messer.” She rolled her eyes, before trying again, “Hey Danny, Maka called and confessed her undying love for you, and she’s flying up from Miami to have her wicked way with you.”

Still nothing.

“You know Danny, I’ve been thinking—I’ve changed my mind. I want you. I really, really want you. I want to go find a broom closet and shag your brains out right now.”

He blinked, but he didn’t respond, eyes still focused on Sofia. Lindsay just shook her head with a laugh, “Fine, I give up.” At that, Danny turned and looked at her.

“You say something?” That only made Lindsay laugh harder.

“You got it bad, don’t you?” she grinned.

“What? What are you talking about?” he said, “Got it bad for who?”

“Detective Curtis,” Lindsay sighed.

“You’re imagining things, Montana,” Danny shook his head with a smirk, “Me and Sofia—we’re too different.”

“Are you?” she sighed, “Then how come you can’t stop staring at her?”

“I’m not staring at her.”

“Uh-huh.”

“I’m not, Monroe.”

“Sure, you’re not,” Lindsay replied, gathering the last of her results and heading out the door, “She has just been standing outside that window for the past fifteen minutes, and you haven’t processed a single piece of evidence since she arrived.” Lindsay then patted him on the back and continued on the way out, “You weren’t staring at all.”

Danny blinked, before shaking his head, “She needs a boyfriend.”

Sofia was going over a file in her hands when she spotted Danny loading up a gun for a ballistics test. She didn’t know what it was, but she was captivated. She watched him as he slammed the chamber into the grip of the gun, pushed the slide back, and then pulled the trigger. She was just watching him, watching his intent, his focus and was just—entranced.

“Hey, Sofia,” Lindsay said, catching up with the other woman, “Got a hit off the prints on the murder weapon and—” She followed her eyes, and shook her head again, “—God, you’re just as bad as him.”

Sofia spun around, and gave the other woman a friendly smile, “You need me for something, Lindsay?”

“He really likes you, you know,” Lindsay commented.

“Who does?” Sofia frowned.

“Danny,” Lindsay replied, “He really likes you.”

“I think you’re very confused, Lindsay,” Sofia laughed, “Danny can barely stand me.”

“You haven’t seen him staring at you,” Lindsay replied, and Sofia seemed taken aback.

“Seen him what?”

“He stares at you,” Lindsay stated, “All—the time.”

Sofia looked a bit flustered, “Really?”

“Yeah,” Lindsay grinned, “You should do something about it.”

Sofia shook her head, “Danny and I—we’re like oil and water.”

“So?” Lindsay smirked, “I’m sure there have been worse relationships.”

“We fight all the time.”

Lindsay just gave her a look.

“We’d be just setting ourselves up for—” she stopped when the look on Lindsay’s face didn’t change.

“Sofia,” Lindsay began, “Just do us all a favor, and at least talk to him.”

“But there isn’t—”

“Sofia, please,” Lindsay sighed, “I’m not the only one who sees it.”

“You’re the only one who’s come to me about it,” Sofia stated, and Lindsay just shook her head, before a voice came up from behind them.

“Hey, Curtis!” Both women turned and saw Flack coming towards them. The look on his face was one of supreme annoyance, “You’ve got to do something about Danny.”

“What?” Sofia blinked.

“He’s spacing, he’s rambling on and on about how infuriating you are,” Flack sighed as he got closer, “Kiss him, screw him, I don’t care what you do, just get him to shut—up!”

She turned to Lindsay and shot her a look, “You two planned this didn’t you.”

“Us, plan?” Lindsay frowned, “Sofia, we don’t plan anything. I told you I wasn’t the only one.”

Sofia stared at them both for a second before shaking her head, “Fine, I’ll talk to him. That’s it, though.”

“Works for me,” Flack replied, before both he and Lindsay watched Sofia walk off into the lab. “That was close.”

“Yes, it was,” Lindsay replied extending her hand to him in a high-five, “But we are good.”

“Yes, we are,” Flack nodded, slapping her a high-five before walking off.
