“Thanks again for doing this, Greg,” Lindsay sighed as she attached the last handcuff, “I really appreciate it.”

“Anything for a case,” Greg replied.

“Yeah, but usually I can use Ryan for a guinea pig and—”

“Don’t worry about it,” Greg sighed, “The team in Las Vegas used to do this to me all the time.”

“Now, these aren’t too tight or anything, right?” she asked, “You can still feel your fingers?”

“Yup,” Greg replied, wiggling them for her as her beeper went off.

“Great,” she sighed, glacing down at her phone, “I’m gonna go get my trace results, and I’ll be right back, alright?”

“Not a problem.”

“Good,” she said, giving him one last smile before she disappeared out the door.

Natalia and Delko were discussing the case on the way to the garage, when they ran into Valera. The blond woman was looking slightly preoccupied, maybe even a little early when Natalia stopped her.

“Everything alright, Valera?”

“You wouldn’t happen to know where Greg is, would you?” the other woman replied, looking concerned.

Delko shook his head, “No, I don’t. Why?”

“Lindsay borrowed him for an ‘experiment,’ and I haven’t seen him since,” Valera replied.

“Oh,” Natalia stated, exchanging a look with Eric.

“Yeah,” Valera rolled her eyes, “You know Lindsay and her experiments.”

“Why doesn’t she ever just use her own boyfriend?” Natalia asked.

“Apparently Ryan was out on a case or she, and I quote, ‘would have used him instead,’” Valera sighed, before shaking her head, “Look, if you see him, would you let him know that I’m looking for him?”

“Will do,” Natalia nodded, before the woman continued on her way. Delko just shook his head before continuing on his way to trace, and Natalia headed in the direction of the garage. When she got there, she found that Lindsay was processing another car there, and looked up when Natalia came in.

“Hey,” Lindsay said with a smile, and Natalia smiled back.

“That the car from your case?”

“Yeah,” Lindsay replied, “It’s looking like the wife did it, and she might have carried the body away in this car.”

“Hey, have you seen Greg?” Natalia asked, “Valera’s been looking for him, and she said you were the last one to see him.”

Lindsay nodded, a devilsh smirk on her face, “I needed him to help match the ligature marks on my vic’s wrists and ankles. I handcuffed him to the—”

Natalia looked up from the car she was supposed to be processing, and was surprised to find a horrified look on the woman’s face. “Lindsay?”

“Oh my God!” Lindsay said, jumping up from what she was doing, and practically bolting from the garage. Natalia frowned in confusion before following the woman as she ran for the layout room.

Delko was just staring down at the table in the layout room, trying very, very hard not to laugh that the scene before him. He took a deep breath, composing himself before he started to speak. “Now—tell me again—how did you get handcuffed to the layout table?”

Greg made a face, “Dude, I just did—”

“And I’m still not sure I fully understand it,” Delko replied, shaking his head.

“Can you just call Lindsay, ask her to come and release me, and she’ll explain?”

“Tell me again one more time.”

Greg took a deep breath, before explaining again, “Lindsay said she needed someone to help her with an experiment for her case. Since you and Ryan weren’t here, I said I’d help her out. She told me she needed to match the ligature marks on her vic, and that when the processed the house, she had found scuff marks on the posts of the dining room table that could have been caused by wear on handcuffs. Since she needed to pin down a location as to where he was tied up shortly before he was killed, she needed to see if the ligature marks on the vic were caused but him being handcuffed from that particular angle.”

“And the dimensions of the layout table matched that of their dining room table?” Eric asked, and Greg nodded—well, as much as he could.

Delko nodded with him, and they both looked up as there was a clatter of heels in the hallway.

“Greg, I am so, so sorry,” Lindsay sighed as she rushed in, pulling out the keys to the handcuffs as she went, “The trace results gave me a bit of a lead, and I completely forgot I left you here.”

“It’s OK,” Greg replied, “Delko and I were just having an interesting conversation on how I got here.” Once his hands were free, he sat up and gave a confused-looking Natalia a smile. “I take it Lindsay didn’t explain to you what was going on?”

Natalia shook her head, and Lindsay rolled her eyes, before telling them the story. After unlocking his ankles, she gave Greg an apologetic look.

“Can I see your wrists?” Greg held them out for her, and she studied them carefully.

“They look like they’re a match, but I’m going to have to photograph them to be sure,” she sighed, before reaching for her camera.

“What’s going on?” Ryan asked, peeking into the room over Natalia’s shoulder.

“Lindsay handcuffed Greg to the table and then forgot about him,” Natalia commented, and the man’s face looked slightly worried for a second, and the other woman laughed, before patting him on the shoulder, “Don’t worry—it was all in the name of science.”

“I was trying to match ligature marks,” Lindsay sighed as she finished snapping the pictures.

“Well, you better hope that Valera doesn’t catch you,” Ryan replied, “I don’t think she’s going to be too thrilled with this.”

There was a sudden shriek of “She did WHAT?!?!?” from the direction of the DNA lab, and Lindsay’s eyes widened.

“I’m so dead.”
