OC Backstory - John Benson
Just rewriting, and adding in a bit. If anyone had this linked somewhere, this is the new link for it.

Actual Person: Ryan Gosling, Actor
Age: 28
Parents: Andrew and Olivia Benson
Siblings: Melissa and Megan Benson
John grew up between two girls, both of which he was very protective of, regardless of how much older Melissa was than him. He always got along well with his siblings—despite the amount of time he spent getting on Megan’s nerves, mostly because of the way their parents acted around them. John often wonders how his parents ever got together, because he and his sisters never saw a moment where their parents really got along. They fought almost constantly, and the few times they managed to pull it together, it was a very thinly veiled tolerance, and you could hear the contempt through their voices. He always thought his parents should have split up a long time ago, but they stayed together for their kids.
He didn’t get into acting until college, when his roommate, Ryan Hamilton, dragged him to an audition with him. John had always been a quiet kid, and never much into acting, but once he got into his first show, he was bit by the bug. He and Ryan stayed roommates throughout all four years, getting along rather well, despite their vast personal differences, and spent a lot of time doing shows together. After they graduated, John with a degree in English, they moved to the city together and landed a waiter job in a local diner before snagging themselves an agent, Ethel Harper, who was the best at getting her actors decent work, no matter how small the part. They both took advantage of it, spreading their names around until they were getting larger parts and more leads, making better money. Once they were making enough to afford their three bedroom that they were leasing with their friend, Darius McDowell, also a friend from college, who was working in the fashion district. He and Eva Patterson met during a run of Once Upon a Mattress, but he wasn’t in the show. He was doing a run of subUrbia, but dropped by the other rehearsals whenever he could, considering that all his other friends were in it. They hit it off almost right away, and he quickly became close to her, Chelsea Carlson, and Will Richards.
John is one of those people that it’s very, very hard not to like him. Softspoken and laid back, he usually only is confrontational when he, himself, doesn’t like you, and you have to be a real asshole in order for that to happen. What most people don’t understand is how Ryan and John are best friends. As mentioned earlier, it’s really, really hard for John not to like you, but Ryan can just be an ass sometimes. Yet they manage to live together without killing each other, and John puts up with a lot of Ryan’s crap.
John can also be very protective of his friends. He doesn’t like to see them to get hurt, and when it does happen, he won’t get violent, but he won’t let them get away with it. He also isn’t in relationships that often, because he doesn’t want to make the girl uncomfortable, and will wait for them to make it very obvious that he should make a move. But he doesn’t mind not beng in a relationship as much, he has his friends, and he feels like that is enough most of the time. His last serious relationship was with Susan Romero*** and that was several years before Eva met Flack, during one of the many runs of Midsummer they had done.
