well...

i was camping on a battleship in massachuetts (sp?), and they were supposed to be having fireworks for something or other, and i was watching them, and i wanted to move to another position on the ship so i could see better. i knew there was a drop, but there was a step down so the drop wasn't so far.

however, it was dark, and me and dark don't necessarily get along to well.

so, i missed the step and wound up falling and cutting my chin open. since we didn't have a car in massachuetts, (i think we had taken the bus up, i don't remember) i got to ride in an ambulance on the way to the emergency room, and all i really needed to do was get stitches under my chin, but the doctor wanted to make sure i hadn't hurt my spine in any way, so he was pressing against my neck and asking me if it hurt. he was pressing pretty hard, and it did, so i told him yeah, it hurt. he took it that i might have injured my neck in some way, and he wanted to do an x-ray, so he had me put in a neck brace and strapped to one of those wooden backboards until the x-rays were taken and he could determine that there really wasn't anything wrong with me.

that in itself took hours. by the time they actually stitched me up it was about three in the morning and by the time i got back to the ship it was four. needless to say, the next morning i wasn't a very happy camper. no pun intended.
