Rant About HP
DISCLAIMER: I do not hate Harry Potter. I am a huge fan of the books (maybe not so much of the movies) and am looking very much forward to the release of the seventh book next week. This is more the frustrated movie worker in me than anything else. Also, there are no spoilers for the actual movie, just the book.
Dear Manager,
You suck. If you need more employees to work because of Harry freakin' Potter, then you assign them to work the closing shift for the midnight showing (where they let you go after one in the morning), or the opening shift (that starts at 8:45 AM) the next day. NOT BOTH. This will only prove to piss off and be very unhealthy for your employees, when they get less than five hours of sleep because of Harry freakin' Potter.
Also, the employee doesn't appreciate it when you seem to have been so careful about everyone else's schedules, giving them the closing shifts on Wednesday, or the opening shift on Tuesday, because she seems to be the only one who has this little problem, and the rest of the staff is just fine.
No love,
Me.
Dear Other Manager,
When said employee confides in you that she has to be at the ridiculously early opening the next morning, YOU DON'T TELL HER TO CLEAN BOX OFFICE, which rarely ever gets done, and really didn't need to be done right then, when there was plenty of stuff that needed to be cleaned in concession. I'm glad you're moving to Arizona.
No love,
Me.
Dear Fans,
WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!?!? The Harry Potter movies aren't that great compared to the books, and The Order of the Phoenix is definitely not the highlight of the series. Why did you need to force the theater to open two more showings after midnight in order to accommodate you all. If you don't see the movie exactly at midnight, I don't think you'll be missing much. Book Five is chock full of emo!Harry whining about how everyone hates him, and has the worst ending ever. Movie Five is not going to be much better, especially since the movies, as I said, aren't that wonderful. Go home and get some freakin' sleep.
No love,
Me.
You may be asking, why, if I have to be up so early in the morning, am I sitting on LJ at two AM writing all this out, and I respond to that with--
It's too freakin' hot to sleep. And it sucks.

I saw HP at midnight. *lol* Full of crazy asses, but my little sister INSISTED that we see it opening night. I'd rather have waited a week and gone to the matinee. But alas...
Why do people bring children who are too young to understand the movie and only spend the entire time making noise? Sofuckingannoyingargh.
The movie was alright, but I hate when they change stupid things that don't need to be changed. In the end, reading the books is better. They didn't make Harry as emo in the movie, but I kept bugging the shit out of my sister by looking at her and running one finger down my cheek and mouthing 'emo tear' to her. Hehe, she got pissed. ^_^
BUT OMG THE ENDING! *weep*

You and me both. I did the midnight showing thing for Pirates, and while it was fun--it really wreaks havoc on the sleep schedule.
Why do people bring children who are too young to understand the movie and only spend the entire time making noise?
For the same reason people bring two year-olds to horror movies. Because they get in for free and Mommy and Daddy want to see the movie.

Hee...I probably would have done the same thing. I have nothing against the people doing the movies--I just don't like the way they do them. And I have a feeling that things are only going to get worse. (Especially since through book five was all that Harry, Ron and Hermione were contracted through, and I don't really know if the actors are going to stick around.)
BUT OMG THE ENDING! *weep*
Did they stay true to the way they did the ending in the book though--you didn't see the body?

Maybe if I complained enough but I doubt it.

Hope you're sleeping well tonight. ^^

No offense to the actors, but they'd be stupid not to stick around for the full set--you'll never be guaranteed that kind of money again, people.

Beyond this place there be spoilers...
Yes and no. Bellatrix did avada kedavara(sp?), which was stupid, but he did fall through the veil and disappear. :(

I'll check that out. They probably have something.
Hope you're sleeping well tonight. ^^
I plan on it.

That's what I say--but you never know. Daniel Radcliffe definitely seems like he wants to be doing his own thing.
And I'm glad he still just disappeared. That was a critical part of the book for me.

I'm too tired to be angry at this point. I'm just glad its over.

I like doing opening night, but not the midnight show. That's too much for me.

But I don't.

I'm sure you have wonderful stories about how horrible customers can be, especially where OMG Harry Potter is concerned.
When I worked retail, it was normal to close and then open the next day, though we weren't usually open until midnight.

Yeah, that's fine. And I've worked that kind of thing before. Just not when we've been at work till one, and then had to be back the next day at 8:45 AM. We normally open closer to noon.
It was too much.

And I have no desire to see any more nearly-nekkidy pictures of Daniel with horses. *shudder* >_< It makes me feel pervy.
That was a critical part of the book for me.
Yeah, having a body would have ruined it.
