Last couple sets from the "Interview Me" meme.
1. What's one creative thing that you've always wanted to be able to do, but have never really done or don't think you've done it well?
Draw. I can't draw for my life, but I've always wanted to be one of those kids, sitting in the park, just sketching away at something. Words have always just come more naturally, I guess. But then again, my handwriting is a mess.
2. Where do you see yourself in ten years (socially/educationally/career-wise/creatively/etc.)?
Huh. Well--I'll be out of college. Hopefully (maybe) I'll be working as a casting agent (or working for a casting agent, on my way to becoming one). I don't think I'll be any less of a hermit than I am now (I've never really been one for people), but I might be a little more outgoing. Creatively speaking--I don't know what I'll be writing, but I doubt I'll be done for good. I enjoy it too much. It's my outlet, that I use a bit too often.
3. What is the most important thing in your life right now?
Sadly, my job. Making sure I get there on time and that I don't piss a manager off enough to lose it, because then I'll be screwed. It's a very nice job. Let's me keep it while I'm away at school at can't work, and it's (relatively) easy.
4. Describe a show that you're dying to see on TV that isn't currently or has never been on the air.
I really wish they hadn't canceled Conviction. It was a really good show, and I'd like to have seen the characters mature a little more (and find out whether Brian/Christina went down in flames or separated amicably--or didn't separate at all for that matter). It sucks that they canceled it. (I also now need to get my Anson Mount fix from somewhere else *pouts*)
As for a new show--Viva Laughlin either looks like it's going to be really good, or a flaming piece of crap. But it's got Hugh Jackman and Eric Winter. And if Eric can sing--I'll have a new love, right there.
5. What draws you to a creative work (fanfic/books/movies/art/shows/etc.)?
When I was a kid, I had ridiculous amounts of imaginary friends (and not many real ones). They were mostly spawn of whatever shows I watched on TV (I was a big Power Rangers fan. And my siblings got me into Digimon. And I liked another one of those big kids shows, but I can't remember what it was...) Anyway. I had this massive storyline (not that I realized this at the time) planned out in my head, that I would act out, with myself, in my backyard. As I got older, I started going on the internet, and found out people actually wrote this stuff down, posted it, and other people read it--and that's when I tried to start and write some of my own. My stuff starting out at first was horrible (it was RPH--I didn't understand what slash was, nor did I care. I was thirteen. And my characters were very much Mary Sues. But I did write (I think) Tom Welling/Allison Mack once. But again, horrible, and I'm not even sure where it is.) but eventually I got better at it, and my style is still evolving somewhat, the more I write and read. And that's pretty much how I got into fic.
As for the other artsy stuff--it just seemed like more fun to me than sports. I mean, I did the whole nine yards when I was a kid. Dance, band, theatre, piano lessons. I never really could draw though--not sure I appreciate creative art as much as I should, but I love photography. It just seemed to be my schtick. And when I got into high school, I got into writing and theatre a lot more, and that seemed to be my niche where a lot of my friends were. That was much longer than I had anticipated.
1. You can invite any 5 people, living or dead, to have lunch with you. Who do you invite? Why?
Jerry Orbach, Stephen Lynch, Jesse Martin, Jensen Ackles, and Eddie Cahill. I want to hear the first three sing together, and the last two--are just pretty, and I'm shallow.
2. What motivates you to write so much fic?
Aside from the fact I have nothing better to do, I like it. And the voices in my head won't let up otherwise.
3. What’s your favorite ship/pairing/couple/fangirl obsession?
I like experimenting more than I like writing one particular one. I don't OTP really, except for the fun ones (Dean/Impala or Flack/food, for example). What I love is when I can find a cast (Like CSI:NY) and every member there can be feasibly shipped with each other in some way. That's when I have fun. And I have pairings that I would love to see on the show (Flack/Lindsay for example, or Danny/Maka), and pairings that I love to write as well (Flack/Maka, Danny/Angell). But I love mixing things up, which is why crossovers are such crack for me.
4. If you could do/be anything in the world, what would it be?
On Broadway. No, seriously, if my singing voice was more than a background voice--I would be in a musical in a heartbeat. Stage Broadway shows are fun too, but I adore musicals.
5. What is your favorite theater show?
Straight theater? A Midsummer Night's Dream. Musical? It's a tie between Little Shop of Horrors and Spamalot.
